Trading Auston
So the Kings are expected to make this trade knowing there’s a chance he walks, as hinted by your re-sign condition? (Which btw, have been abolished for a few years now)
Easy no from LA. They’ll just wait to pursue him in free agency.

KINGS OFFSZN
Flyers are going to be looking for futures for Hart if they decide to trade him. Can’t see them being interested in Durzi or Lizotte.
Would love to have Crouse but don’t think the cap would allow for it, and he’s not exactly a big upgrade over Iafallo to make that a worthwhile transaction.
Habs just signed Monahan so that’s kind of a no go.

This is what I would do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Artman91</b></div><div>To my fellow Kings fans, especially oldNYIfan, I obviously don’t want to trade Iafallo or Arvidsson. Especially Iafallo but it’s extremely tough not to when we need to sign a #1 Goalie and resign Vilardi. I would prefer Vilardi over Iafallo. With our salary circumstances it would be near impossible to have a “better” team on paper compared to previous season. Our key for this season is Byfield. He needs to step up big time! Kaliyev needs to have a consistent season, Fiala needs to stay healthy, we have to hope Turcotte can overcome is injuries and develop. He needs to be at the worst a decent 4th liner. Clarke needs to step up and have “Rookie of the year” type season. Scenn and Lucic have to show others that we’re not scared to throw the body. Jarry needs to have his best season of his career. Kopitar and Doughty must maintain last season numbers or better. Vilardi and Kempe need to continue their offensive forces. Moore needs to have a bounce back season.</div></div>
I’d rather keep Iafallo than trade for Kubalik and sign Namestnikov. Much more important to the team identity and that shutdown line with Danault.
Jarry would be a decent get for Buckley’s first guy to work with in LA, but I wouldn’t get caught giving him that contract as stated above. Maybe 2-3 years if he’d take it at a lesser AAV. Also don’t need to sign Schenn when there’s other RD to use, especially if he’s just going to be the 7D.

TML trade ideas
Kings are trading Arvidsson to clear his full cap hit if they do so, so you’re either taking him at his full 4.25 or it’s no deal.
Steeves is also uninteresting. Peska is a recent signing so that doesn’t work, and Toronto doesn’t exactly have other intriguing prospects in the areas LA would be interested (LD and G), so just make that a pick instead.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Herb_Brooks</b></div><div>so what I see here is marner has more assists than kempe has points, hes also a selke level defender whos one of the best Pkers in the NHL</div></div>
I mean, as <a href="/users/tryger" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@tryger</a> mentioned, contracts add value just as much as production does. It’s not far fetched to think some teams may value Kempe more than Marner in terms of a trade target.
This is why teams like Tampa are so willing to pay a premium on guys like Hagel. Marner’s 99 points don’t mean as much when he’s playing with replacement level players to make the cap work.
And as mentioned by <a href="/users/OldNYIfan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@OldNYIfan</a>, the Kings have no hope of keeping Marner after that contract, so they aren’t about to trade that for a 2 year rental.

I don’t think Chicago is keen on using one of its two remaining retention slots on a menial amount like that for little compensation, but I think I’d be willing to swap Durzi for Vejmelka, especially if the Kings can find a team to retain.

Welcome to the site!
Kings will pass on trading Roy. He’s the defensive backbone of the Kings’ top 4 and they aren’t keen on Durzi or Clarke filling his role, at least not yet.
Given Wings fans also seem less lenient on trading Wallinder, I don’t think there’s a trade there, but it’s a good attempt!

Who needs PLD if Byfield is on the market
The only people that have thrown Byfield’s name around is Jets media saying a PLD trade is ‘Byfield or bust’. He’s never been on the market and likely won’t be albeit some outlandish offer nobody sees coming.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheDuminator</b></div><div>to get Byfield... 5 OA and swap from Harris to Durzi...

By replacing half the roster?
Kings will pass on the Jets, Ducks and Bruins deals. Don’t think Chicago takes that.
This is a lot less deep team than the current Kings with bad goaltending, that needs Fiala on LTIR for whatever reason to even work. 20 man rosters don’t work.

Haven’t seen PLD to LA gain any traction since Friedman initially suggested it, so I’m not sure who your insider is.
Why would the Kings trade Kempe for Dubois when Kempe has produced much better than Dubois? He’s the franchises first 40 goal scorer in quite some time, a number Dubois has yet to come near to. And the Kings don’t really need a centre given what they already have?
Sure Kopitar is coming off the books, but then where’s the money for his new contract? Kaliyev? Roy? Spence? Lizotte? A new backup if Copley leaves? I could go on, but Dubois makes a bigger mess of the Kings’ already tough cap situation.

Insider Knowledge
Do the Kings even contemplate Kempe for Dubois 1 for 1? Never mind Kempe plus all the rest? 40 goal scorer on a sweet contract for a few years yet or a disgruntled centre asking for too much money, I think the choice is easy.
Kings have a pile of young forwards waiting for a chance, some of which I’d say are better/further along than Robertson, so that trade does nothing for LA.

Summer of 2023 Retool
Kings cannot fit PLD and Hellebuyck. This would put them at the ceiling with only 10 forwards and 5 D on the roster, effectively forcing them to gut any depth they had for cap space.
There’s interest in Hellebuyck obviously, but I believe they’ll pass on Dubois.

LAK Offseason
Kings can’t make a trade for PLD. Not going to spend assets on him if he’s just going to sign 2 years and potentially walk once he’s a UFA. His ask is also more than 7.2M so unlikely that works.
Don’t think Buffalo nor the Kings want to make that deal. Danault and Tuch mean more to their respective teams than they would to the teams trading for them.

WHAT IF NYR were smarter with their drafts
I think Lafreniere (and to a lesser extent Kakko) was a victim of circumstances. The team he went to was more concerned with contending than they were with developing. Hard to do both at the same time unless you’re dealing with a McDavid level prospect.

Gavrikov was surprisingly a good fit when the Kings acquired him last year. I think opening the purse strings a little more was worth it if that got it to be a 2 year deal. Would rather that as opposed to a potential 5-7 year albatross contract.

Yegor for rental dman
I don’t suspect the Kings would make Roy available, simply due to him being the defensive backbone of the top 4, as well as the lack of experience on the right side.
But to entertain the idea that he is, it depends on how cheap Sharangovich would sign. If he signs for ~2M I could see something around Sharangovich, Bahl and a pick? I’m not too familiar with Bahl, or whether he’d be available, but the Kings could use someone like him long term.

Where are the Kings getting the money to give him the likely pay raise he wants on his next contract? Kopitar isn’t a viable excuse given who else the Kings have to extend next offseason.

This could be simplified down to just Hellebuyck to LA, since they don’t really need nor want any of the rest.
