Ideal set up for next year
I'm gonna buck the trend of other Canucks fans and suggest that the Canucks would be interested at Faulk at 3y x $5m. I think the better context is not as a Hronek replacement, but as a Myers/Cole replacement.

Have to think that the new owner begins to cash-in those draft picks for actual roster players. I imagine he will want them to be a salary-cap team.

Dubas wanted to re-sign Mikheyev when he was a UFA—the Leafs simply had no cap left. I can the Penguins as a landing spot for that reason.

Ullmark to LA - Lindholm and Hanifin via Free Agency
I'm happy that the Canucks traded for Lindholm, but at no point in the last two years with—either the Flames or recently with the Canucks—have I seen a $9mm AAV player.
Any team who pays him more than $6.0mm AAV will regret that contract.

The additional 1st Round Pick in 2025 would be conditional on the Canucks advancing to finals (conf final—it’s a 2nd, anything less a 3rd)

Beauvillier Value Now
I'm gonna predict that if the Canucks are a playoff team by this year's TDL—he is gonna be flipped to another team when Vancouver makes an acquisition to upgrade their roster.
It feels like he is a pawn in Vancouver's roster/salary strategy right now. No clear role other than to be disposed of.

As long as they have a third line winger that makes $2m less than Conor Garland’s ~$5m salary they would break even…. Until year 4. Then things get spicy.

This is because we only have 3 NHL defensemen including Myers. We need him because we have no players. Also, not selling low on Boeser. Management seems just fine allowing Boeser bounce back and start his redemption arc</div></div>
Just saying—Allvin also said he had no intention of buying-out OEL at the end-of-season press conference. This time of year, everyone lies.

You are going to need to cheap wingers like Podkolzin and Hoglander when the Canucks begin paying for EP and Hronek's extensions in 24-25... They need to be jettisoning the expensive wingers they already have—not adding more!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hitagi_Senpai</b></div><div>I don't think Marky comes back here unless Demko is traded before this deal comes around.
Even then, I think this is a gross underpayment from Vancouver for both of those players. While they are old, they are elite talent. We're offering a struggling sorta winger, who is getting more assists than goals now. And the best n/60 player in the NHL. TANK COMMANDER TYLER MINORS.</div></div>
Perhaps Calgary gets a new GM, looks at the amount of UFAs next year, and decides to do an aggressive rebuild. You'd need a Tank Commander to lead that effort.

They could either trade Demko as they had been rumored to be considering earlier this year, or they could rehab Markstrom's market value with his favorite goalie coach Ian Clark and then flip him down the line.
2023-24 is not a cap crunch year for the Canucks—so they would have a year to figure out which one to move.

New third line
I will post in every damn thread where Kapanen is traded to the Canucks if I have to.
Vancouver spends more on wingers than any other team in the league. It makes no sense for them to trade one winger making $4.95m for a winger making $3.2m + the 1.75m that you have the Canucks retaining on Garland. Guess what, that means they end up paying the exact same for Kapanen to play on the 4th line as they are paying Garland to play on the second line.

Moving Brock
So they are trading Boeser at $6.5m to play in the top-six, for Kapanen at essentially $4.0m to play on the 4th-line? Uh, no.
The Canucks pay more for their wingers than any other NHL team. If and when they trade Boeser or Garland, they are going to try and reallocate that cap space to center or defense.
Kapanen makes absolutely zero sense for the Canucks, but he gets posted in Vancouver trades on this site every day.

The Canucks are trying to shed how much cap they spend on the wings. They will not unload Boeser just to have Kapanen taking up $3.2m in the bottom-six.

Can we stop suggesting Kapanen to the Canucks? They already have the most expensive collection of wingers in the league. They are not adding another +$3m bottom-six winger

If that is a concern--then add Garland to the trade. Carolina will be right up against the cap anyways so they could use his LTIR cap exemption.
