<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jslongo</b></div><div>If i am a team looking to rebuild. Yes</div></div>
If they dont get at least a first and a top prospect Davidson needs to be fired on the spot
If he doesnt get that you keep Hagel and build with him
That contract significantly ups his value as well

I'm against taking on bad money unless it's a one year deal. I'd rather use it in FA to sign and flip someone or be a salary broker at next years TDL. I like Stillman he's fine, but I don't see him being a top four guy and don't like the trade we made. We also threw in Carlsson who's looked better since the trade

The thing is, those players aren't equal and Bowmans gone. You're right, Hawks aren't the team for that cap dump

back end
Mrazek is a overpaid backup with a cap hit for several years; that's negative value to the Hawks and subtracts from any perceived value you are positioning to the Hawks.
Dermott is not a useful asset to the Hawks. Their LHD prospect/player pool is deep with guys that are younger, cheaper, better, and or have higher ceilings then Dermott. Galvas, Caleb Jones, Stillmany, Kalynuk, Kaiser, Beaudin, Vlasic to name a few. All of them are 2nd and 3rd line guys on the left side so while Dermott may have value to other organizations, he has little to none with the Hawks and taking on additive cap in an area of strength would probably be negative value to them.
So basically you've proposed a late 1st round pick in exchange for the Hawks taking on two cap dumps, plus Hagel, and plus Flowers at 1/2 retained. I don't think it needs to be said, but clearly Chicago would not entertain this as such.

Even if all this happened, which is a reach, I can’t see how someone can look at this roster and say, “ya, they only need one more year of a rebuild.”

Hawks easily decline. You'd have to give up one or two of you best prospects and a couple firsts to get debrincat. Hawks aren't trading him.

Yes Cozens, Debrincat is a top 5 goal in the leauge and that's going to be his cost.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgfresh78</b></div><div>I have no idea where this came from…especially for a dude that got traded for nothing.</div></div>
Vegas had to clear his 7 mil cap hit so the hawks took advantage. Now the hawks don't have to trade him if they don't get what they're asking. Add in half retention and a weak goalie market where fleury is the best goalie available and now the hawks might get a first for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>I think CHI should absolutely take that trade. That said, I'm not sure if I'm hearing people's opinions or it's from actual reports, but is MAF saying he won't accept a trade anywhere and wants to finish the season out?</div></div>
MAF hasn't said much with regards to a trade. What he has said is that family is very important to him. The assumption is that wherever he goes (Staying in CHI is an option too) that he wants an extension with a full NMC. He's not moving his family around.
As for the trade. It really doesn't work for CHI. CHI already has a pathway to that 2nd round pick through the Keith conditions. EDM is also making CHI eat Kassian's 3 year contract. I honestly don't even think CHI would do this trade if MAF wasn't even included. It's just not that much for taking on $8M in cap Dumps.

Chicago isn't giving up a higher pick, and Chicago has a logjam of LHD prospects. So the hawks would want a Top 4 LHD for Strome (that's not named Pettersson)

Nucks Blockbuster
So the nucks give up the best forward in the trade (by a lot), the best dman, a top 10 pick, and a cap dump to get a lesser forward in Strome, a lesser dman in Zadorov, a prospect that hasn't proven anything and is verging on bust, and a cap dump with more term than Eriksson but a bit cheaper.
Seems fair.

I definitely would NOT make that trade if I were CHI. Here's a list of UFA Dmen next summer where the Hawks lose zero assets when they sign. Lindholm, Jones, Rielly, Pullock, Nurse, Parayko, Ekholm, Klingberg, plus more.
