Make it all work
I wouldn’t mind keeping miller, I was kicking the idea of shipping perfetti with Schmidt, to attempt to upgrade this years draft capital, walk iafallo and Appleton to free agency and replace them from within in with lambert and mcgroarty a year later. Possibly need another year on demelo and monahan to not be outbid, but I would take my chances with this adventure.

I will get blasted but returning Iafallo to western New York appeals to me.
Adding a first and two recent first round prospects.

Ottawa tells you to kick rocks.
If you want to make a serious offer for Norris, look at what you got for Dubois and then go from there.</div></div>
lmfao you mean the Dubois trade that looks like one of the worst one sided trades in recent history? you should be more realistic

Trade Norris and Chabot for more futures.
Open up cap space
Fix the prospect pool including adding a top 5 pick
Have a lot of cap space to sign good vets short term and keep the team competitive

If you look at the data , you’ll realize Schmidt has been excellent defensively this year . And he’s retained. I do that trade all day

Retooling Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KPasty</b></div><div>I think of it this way. Tanev is a defensive upgrade on Schmidt who you have the chance to re sign and balance out the pairings with handiness. Lindholm would give the jets by far the best top 6 in the league running 27-55-13 81-28-91 while having Iafallo-Vladdy-Baron as your 4th line would be an embarrassment of riches. Lucius is probably behind Lambert in terms of prospects so you’re not giving up you #1 center prospect, you still have McGroarty, Barlow, Chibrakov in the pipeline. You haven’t given up any of your D prospects. The 1st round pick would be closer to 30 ideally 32 and you have montreals pick still which is most likely 33-40 anyway. I know from my other posts your not on the “assets for rentals train” but this is an opportunity to push with the deepest forward group we’ve had since 18’ and improve the D-core all while Helle is playing at the Vezina level. Get on board the Lindholm to Winnipeg train… lol</div></div>
I appreciate the thought you put into that. I guess I just have a hard time seeing these Jets doing anything now after last year, but who knows.
It's Christmas. I withdraw my objection!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SydBarrett</b></div><div>Pens pass pretty easily . Jake is a top 10 left wing in the NHL. Could get much better offers from most playoff teams
Also seems like the Jets would have no need for any wingers. LW is probably one of their biggest strengths</div></div>
Maybe as a sign and trade, and even then the extension would have to be VERY favorable. Don't get me wrong, Guentzel is a great player, but he is almost 30 years old and a pending UFA. No team is trading half their future for a guy who's next contract has a high chance of not aging well. For most teams, the best you will get is a rental price, like a late 1st plus a 2nd or something equivalent. And even at that price a lot of teams will just wait until summer and approach him in free agency.

Easy no for Winnipeg. The Jets have no use for bottom pairing defenseman, so Joseph adds no value.
Guentzel doesn't waive for Winnipeg and isn't pulling down anywhere close to that as a rental.

Calgary fans wont like the trade but I do (Nucks fan). Problem is its early days and Calgary still has time to turn things around. Andersson would be ideal however, if a conversation did open. Right age and has term on his contract. I dont like giving up Hunter or a first but given the return I think I could be convinced that this would be a great move for the Nucks. I am a Bear fan, but Andersson is several levels above what Bear can offer and thus the price.

According to Serevelli this is pretty much what is happening. Nobody will offer assets and Grier sees it at $16M retained not $30M+ saved and that's why he isn't being moved.
But Serevelli said he's pretty sure Karlsson gets traded with retention for nothing eventually cause it's been since the deadline and nobody has offered anything.

Schenn is a solid option to put with hughes as they have familiarity. which makes it easy to pair Hronek and Graves, leaving burroughs and Hirose as the 3rd pairing if Reinbacher needs to be sent down.

Has to be a can’t say no offer, still 3 years on contract, so probably a season to see how quick the jets can come back as contenders. Then possibly easier next year to try and get him. This year would have to be a buy high and overspend. 5oa would have to be involved to swing it this year.

Jets will be looking at getting at least a guaranteed 1st (Preferably in the 2023 draft), solid prospect (B+) and UPL... or an A tier prospect plus UPL. Would also think the Jets ask about Levi and a solid prospect.

I can't see Winnipeg having any interest in that offer. Any deal probably starts with 17 this year and a few other picks or prospects as well as a young roster player.

jets wouldn't match lol unprotected 2024 first and third and saving 6m in cap is quite a good deal lol not to mention mtl is still not a playoff team so most likely a lottery pick
