great prospect, not anywhere close to what caniac's propaganda would say (that narrative is one of the biggest skull emoji moments on this whole site), but still gonna be a darn good top 4 guy

He's gonna be a top-4 guy but he isn't gonna be a norris contender or anything

Draft Day
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KennyBoi</b></div><div>To me it feels like there was competition driving the price up. Because viewing Sweeney's trades in recent years tells me he usually has a good gauge on players trade value.
Someone in that front office really likes the guy, and with the cap going up, maybe see Peeke's AAV & term as a positive.</div></div>
Maybe but i doubt it. Had not heard of much interest around the league.
I think it was more urgency on Boston’s part having missed out on cheaper beefy d men earlier and there was nothing left combined with Forbort injury. Peeke is somewhat a RH version of Forbort.
Carrying on the tradition of #6 type d man making 2.5+ with term. Moore, Reilly, Forbort. At least it’s only 1 instead of 3 at the same time.
I don’t mind the add as much as others. He has size, blocks a ton of shots and hits people. Rest of his game is rather sketchy.
Will likely be RD3 next year blocking Regula.
I am sure Don tried to get a better deal, retention or lesser pick. Maybe it just wasn’t there. But i’d imagine Columbus would have been happy/shocked just to dump his full salary so it’s weird. Have to wonder if the Gavrikov fiasco ftom last year played into it. 🤷🏻♂️

Hows it looking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dons_weeney</b></div><div>For the next 2 years yea. I think for this year Shatty is the way to go though. He's looked great with Wotherspoon lately.
Peeke seems more like a project, to get them accustomed to their system. He has the size etc. but his stats aren't promising. My guess is they took advantage of the buyers market by picking him up now instead of the offseason. They knew Forbort was going to LTIR so could stash him for now, train him to learn their system, while being depth in the meantime.
High risk high reward trade.</div></div>
I also think that's matchup dependent. there are going to be games where you want peeke over shattenkirk.

What are the Lighting doing buying when the can’t beat the scraps left on Calgary. And to give up their best D prospect makes it that much worse. JBB is lost.

God awful!! Sometimes the trade you don't make is the best one. This would be a perfect example of that.

Are you kidding me don
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dons_weeney</b></div><div>This feels like the slightest bit of an underpay as a B's fan, but Lysell and the 1st are legit assets. Griz will help their D depth, and Lauko can be nice for a rotating 4th line fighter/energy guy. Not bad for a cup run this year with 2 assets in as well for the future.</div></div>
are you kidding? do you not understand the situation vancouver is in? cut this offer in half and add retention

Trade Deadline Wishful Thots
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cody_tugak</b></div><div>And also, I've moved my sights onto Freddy because he fits a middle 6 way better that Debrusk who no one knows if he's a top, middle or bottom six player, he's all over the place while being on a good team already, but I'm sure if Boston would trade Freddy, JD would end on on the 3rd line and most likely staying there</div></div>
And completely unproductive at this point, if you are trying to win now…🤷🏻♂️

Don’t like that Minny trade at all.
Could live with NJ trade.
LA would be a possibility as well with their new found cap space due to LTIR.

Forbort probably traded by March 8
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>batman</b></div><div>Been playing poorly and his attitude is apparently ****.
Jim Murphy says he might get traded by next week</div></div>
Jimmy Murphy seems like a great guy to chat about the Bruins at a bar and he serves a purpose, but I wouldn’t say he has a lot of insider knowledge. Hes a good representative of the every fan and appreciate him for what he is. He is not a credible insider.
Forbort overslept a meeting. We’ve all been there. He hasn’t been healthy, but I doubt he takes retention to keep. There are mediocre players getting traded for third round picks who aren’t as good as Forbort. He’s a fairly easy salary swap, but I agree that Philly would require something else.
Lohrei is making mistakes, but also showing some really interesting recovery ability at the same time. He’s much better know vs his first or second time he was called up.

DeBrusk is 4 points back with 1 fewer game played, and will probably be signing for less than Mangiapane at 5.8. I don't think there is a difference in value between the two, certainly not worth a 2nd and a prospect

Considering they don’t have to move Middleton it w9n’t be cheap. They are in cap hell and he has nice cap hit, signed next year.
Roughly 1st/3rd/mid prospect or similar type value for the pair.
