<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MelonVK</b></div><div>Dvorak is a really good 2C - I don't know why Arizona would give him up. Hayton has not looked like anything close to that level yet. Patrick is just a shot in the dark at this point.

I guess I don't know how you think this is the price for a guy you still play over JEE in the lineup? How much would you ask for if someone wanted JEE?

Now, I think Eriksson-Ek is better, and a legit 1C, so he should cost more. But there seems to be a disconnect on your end. Or would you give JEE up to Philly for that price? I guess I don't understand fully...

I'd personally play JEE as your #1 and instead go for a #2 that might seem disposable to their current team. I'm thinking someone like Dylan Strome in Chicago, I'm sure he'd be available for 13th overall the way they treated him last season - and he has a pretty similar profile to Dvorak; good offensively, somewhat neutral defensively; a good complement to a more defensively minded JEE.</div></div>

I appreciate the feedback - this is the type of response I welcome. I don't necessarily think this is the price for Dvorak, but I also don't think it's an absurd offer. AZ is a team that very heavily relies on drafting and developing, so them not having a 1st this year is a pretty big deal IMO. Obviously they don't want to give up Dvorak, but it would be irresponsible not to listen to offers given where they're at as a franchise. They're getting a player who is NHL capable and a high 1st round draft pick in a year where they currently don't have one.

I can understand if Patrick is too much of a shot in the dark, where it would need to be someone more surefire. I've done packages for Strome, but wanted to revisit the idea of Dvorak in this proposal. I've considered a TON of different options and put together all sorts of different ACGMs with various centers. I've watched a lot of Dvorak and really like him as a fit for the Wild.

Regarding the lineup arrangement, you could swap JEE and Dvorak if you wanted. I'd personally start the year with the lineup above, given the chemistry of the GREEF line and Dvorak being a better natural goal scorer than Ek. Whoever plays with Kap/Zucc is going to get setup with a lot of opportunities, and as much as I like Ek, he's not a pure shooter. Dvorak has quite an edge on Ek in that area of the game.

If AZ was open to a trade on Dvorak, how do you think this package would need to be altered in order to be more fair?

Yeah first off, hopefully, for the Wilds sake, they can convince maybe Suter to waive as he won't get picked by Seattle.

It's kinda weird arguing both sides at once. Strome is a pretty underrated player in my eyes. When you consider situation (teammates, minutes, competition etc) he's a pretty solid offensive player without being a trainwreck defensively like a lot of young scorers. Dumba isn't on his last year though, and I think there's plenty of time for Chicago to convince him to stay there if they want to. Also, Chicago is trading Strome to their rival... I never understand how people always only see one side of these equations.

I always get the impression Chicago fans on here (and maybe that comes with the success) want to compete all the time and think their team is ready for it. I would personally let go of their previous core first, ship Kane (and Toews if he's gonna play) on retained salary and massively cash in and be bad for only a few years. But I guess if they want to compete - go for it. Especially with some cap space being available depending on the Toews situation, with Shaw etc.[/quote]

Well Keith, Toews, Kane, all have NMCs and they all want to stay so it's their decision at the end of the day, not the Hawks or fans. The fans in the know, simply have learned to accept they aren't going anywhere. With Seabs and Shaw on LITR, there is plenty of cap space to spend, so that isn't the problem for Chicago.

You are right on Dumba, my bad. Dumba is good, but the problem is, the Hawks have Boqvist, Mitchell, and Regula as the future right side plus a stellar shutdown guy in Murphy. I do think all 3 young kids need more time in the AHL so this could be a good way to bridge the gap. However, the biggest concern this team has is we don't have a top line left handed Dman. Keith has too many miles to be that guy anymore, yet the Hawks continue to lean on him. If Keith can move to a 2nd line role playing 17 or 18 minutes a night and the Hawks grab a top line guy from somewhere, that will be the biggest improvement this team can make.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MelonVK</b></div><div>In life, you have to look out for yourself. Who else will, the owners of the franchise? They won't pay you if you become a bad player all of a sudden. The coach? Same goes for him, you're on the bench if you play worse. So if you play well, it's kind of expected you'll earn money and opportunity.

Most of these players don't have to complain about their franchise cause they haven't been ran into the ground. At some point, you can only do so much as an elite player. I'm sure we can find a frustrated comment from Sid or even Bergy from when their teams weren't at their top. The Buffalo Sabres are one of the worst managed teams in all of sports. There is so much incompetence going around, and so much talent being wasted and let go of, that you at some point from the perspective of their current and only superstar have to wonder "will this change while I'm here?"

At the same time people bash Taylor Hall for being fine with playing in unsuccessful markets. "Does he even want to win?". Well Jack Eichel wants to win, but now that's upsetting too. Everyone's a hypocrite. Let the players look out for themselves. If the company you worked for was horribly run you'd expect to have the opportunity to leave. The entire draft system and expectation of a player to go play anywhere across a continent, for any level of incompetence in management is hilarious considering what most people on here do for a living. And that's not including the actual children that make up for most of this board, that not only don't have to contemplate the idea of working for a horrendously ran business, but that don't even have to contemplate working at all.</div></div>

I really like your comment. Your reasoning and your approach to this. The only thing I will say is that if I made a comment like this in my organization to the media I would be fired, then I would not be hired by any other organization in a similar role ever again. Eichel is also playing in an elite level of his profession. Compare it to a VP of a company like Amazon making these comments.
