<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>I don't rely solely on analytics. They still have a long way to go in hockey. The style of the team, his linemates, sample size, strength of opposition, all of it influences all of this way too much. As a whole this season is harder to judge than ever because you play the same teams so often. If you get the right matchup you can dominate but then be much less in other scenarios. For example Edmonton is just over 500 vs everyone in the North but beat Ottawa 9 times. So how does that affect the Analytics? Rielly has played a pile of minutes against McDavid who's had a monster year, how does that make his defensive analytics look since that is a proportionally large amount of ice time vs other years? I don't completely trust analytics because hockey is one of the most team orientated sports. You work as a 5 man unit. So who you play with, who you play against and puck bounces greatly affect the Analytics. In a season where you play the same teams over and over its hard to really get an accurate representation. With that said, watching McDavid, he's the best player in the world always. Pulli is hardly noticeable most of the time. On the 3rd line he is of little consequence as pretty much every Oiler is when McDavid and Draisaitl are not on the ice. Hence why McDavid is without a doubt the MVP. No one means as much to their te as he does.</div></div>

Analytics take into account quality of teammates, competition etc. I’ve watched the last couple of EDM games and aside from Mcdavid, puljujarvi has been the best player on the ice.

Rielly has been bad defensively for years now. Muzzin-holl get the tougher matchups and do well, Reilly is still abysmal defensively.
