you trade him if the price it right but overall i agree .
If Domi can land me a top 15 pick in the MTL draft and a top line LD or Center then i'm in .
If CHI showed up with the 15th OA and offered us Nick Beaudin
anything less may be fair but isnt worth giving up Domi as there's more value in establishing him then selling him before he goes UFA down the line

(BUF/MTL) - Scandella for 2020 4th round pick (SJS)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MountRoyal514</b></div><div>Scandella is definitely better than Reilly, even if only marginally, and they clear a contract space for next season, plus get a home town player and they pick up a minors player for their injury-depleted AHL squad. Good asset management by Montreal so we can call it a win but this will barely have any real impact in their overall season however since they are all depth players and late round picks moving</div></div>
There's virtually no way Scandella is worse than Reilly. If Scandella can prove to be a 3rd pairing defensemen, he's already better than Reilly.

Fast forward to this year and he's 25 and the Belleville Senators are just WAY too stacked up front for him to even crack the lineup. Hopefully he gets a better shot in Laval, but I wouldn't count on him ever playing NHL games.</div></div>
That’s good, Laval could definitely use him, with all of the injuries up front in both the NHL and AHL.

Claude Julien didnt trust Reilly at all so there's no surprise. He makes bad decisions every game, but he's good at transitioning.
MTL simply got what they paid for : a 5th round pick

NYR fans for the draft
If Habs get second overall, I don't see how they don't get Lafreniere. I could see Bergeving massively overpaying just to move up that one spot.
one of KK or Zukes, + 2nd overall + more picks in the 2020 draft for 1st overall. Not saying they should do it, but I think it would be likely.
At that point I'd just keep Byfield. him and Kakko are pretty even imo.

(NJD/ARI) - Hall, Speers for Bahl, Merkley, Schnarr, 1sr round pick, conditional 3rd round pick
I hate the Devils more than any other team but even I wouldn't say they lost this trade. Seems like wherever Hall was going to end up, people were going to bash the Devils for their return. In all honestly, he isn't worth the moon, so I don't know why people were expecting that. Bahl and Merkley are really good prospects, and they got two picks out of it too. Giving up Speers was... weird... but aside from that, this really isn't a bad return for an overrated, polarizing, unproven (in playoffs) 28 year-old winger who was never going to sign in NJ anyway. I'm with you on this one, Devils fans (never thought I'd say that). Hockey world overreacting. Let's see what Hall can do in the playoffs before we call this a win for Arizona.

I'm a Devils fan so I'm not gonna complain, but do you realise that in this trade scenario you give away Torontos first?
Toronto is currently 22nd in the league and out of the playoffs, so ur giving away a potential top 10 pick right now..

Minor trade with Isles
It's those kind of small moves that could help. Bergevin has cap space and I still don't get why he doesn't use it : there's a lot of players with so-so contracts that could help the Habs short term for a low cost (Hickey could be one of those players)

Trade with the Wild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMs</b></div><div>I totally agree, mtl got a 2nd for Plekanec, you’ll get a 2nd, just not MTL, but a team who’s contenders</div></div>
you're pretending only clear contenders in NOV are going to be buyers in Feburary
that tells me you must be used to being wrong as a lot always happens between now and then .
MTL has its issues but a lot of that can be fixed by adding more size.
adding Koivu's size to 6'3 Kotkanemi and 6'4 Armia's line gives MTL a line that can physically wear down opponents .
personally i'd love to pick up Koivu and Clifford for the right price
Romanov will be up soon and Romanov-Fleury would be a physically dominating force .
Our D lead the NHL D in scoring with 13 goals the first 20 games so what we need is someone to punish players and block shots to tighten up our D. (Kulak wont hit and doesnt block shots while Reilly only blocks shots and nothing else . )
Clifford would be the best fit thought
one of the top 5 players in the league who can produce while also being a Enforcer

Trade with the Wild
I'd do it from the Wild's perspective, but it all depends on Koivu's willingness to waive his NMC. He loves MN.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMs</b></div><div>We are not cup contenders, so we won’t move asset for a rental who’s not even good</div></div>
Koivu is still amazing defensively. He has fallen off hard in the offensive zone, but he can still make the occasional good play. If you need a face off wizard and a great PK'er, Koivu is still among the best. I'd say a 2nd is pretty close to fair for him

When has Clifford regularly produced? His career year was 21pts. Who is the guy that is "used to being wrong" again? I agree he would be worth picking up for a playoff run. Could offload one of those many 4ths for him. I agree Kulak and Reilly are kind of useless and I agree a lot can change and that MTL could use a Top 2LHD. A lot will happen from now until February, for sure. I think there are really only a handful of teams you an really count out of the playoffs at this point. I think Montreal has a chance to make the playoffs but as a wild card or #3 in the division at best.
I think the Koivu trade is a good trade if you're in a decent spot to make the playoffs. Montreal has a strong prospect pool right now, with a few of them claiming roster spots already and still a lot of mid-draft picks in this upcoming draft so moving a 2nd really wouldn't hurt them all that much, especially if you bring in a Finnish influence like Koivu for Lehkonen, KK and Armia. It is also a good idea to wait and sign him in the offseason. But maybe you only need him for 25GP in the season and a playoff run. Some intangibles are worth picks. Iginla (though he wasn't traded for picks and spent 2 1/2 years with the team) was a phenomenal influence on Landy and Mack. He deserved to win a cup but whatevs #justsuttermanagmentthings

That Parise contract is untradeable. Unless Minnesota is going to retain 50%, not team in their right mind will even be interested. Montreal has cap space, but not someone who will be there long term.
