Yes, the Ducks should go defense if they don't get Celebrini. But a LD is out because with Mintyukov, Zellweger, LaCombe, Vaakanainen, Hinds and Dionicio on that side, Dickinson is overkill.

"Fresh Ideas"?!?!? That's <strong>hilarious</strong>!! This is the fourth time today, and the <strong>NINTH</strong> time this month, that you've proposed the ridiculous inclusion of Brandt Clarke in a trade to Toronto (8 times for Marner and once for Nylander), and on each of the earlier occasions, received unanimous opposition to the idea of including Clarke in ANY trade.
But go ahead. Just put your head down and ignore every single reaction you get. It's a horrible, terrible, no-good, horrible idea for the Kings, but you don't want to listen to what you don't want to hear.

Is this realistic If not what would make it
Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly, but don't be discouraged. We all had imperfect starts.
Los Angeles has no cap space, so every trade has to be cap-neutral or cap-positive. LaFerriere's minimal cap hit plus Spence's anticipated raise won't aggregate $2.9 million. Marner's cap hit is $10.9 million and then there's the additional cost of the player to replace the roster opening created by the 2-for-1 player swap, hence my esteemed friend <a href="/users/tkecanuck341" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@tkecanuck341</a>'s reference to "$10 million" and my esteemed friend <a href="/users/PuckLuck_77" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@PuckLuck_77</a>'s suggestion to add Pierre-Luc DuBois' $8.5 million to the equation.
Good luck with future posts!

Off-season revamp
I don't think that Anaheim is interested in trading Frankie Vatrano for less than a first; the Ducks might as well keep him unless they get an offer they can't refuse. There's also a very good chance that they might want to re-sign him if he doesn't fall off markedly this season.

I think that we're pretty well set with the young LDs that we already have plus Hinds and Dionicio coming in, so Dickinson isn't on my draft board. I think that Parekh will still be on the board at #5 even if we fall as a result of the draft lotteries, because the first four selections should be among Celebrini, Levshunov, Demidov, Lindstrom and Buium. (Or, you could be right, Dickinson might go that high.)

MyKingsReallyHurt
Welcome to CapFriendly in general and to the enthusiastic cadre of Kings supporters in particular. :cheers
Quinton Byfield is a RFA who just had a breakout year in which he scored 55 points in 80 games (just under 0.69 PPG). Seth Jarvis is also a young RFA who has played an additional season, racking up 146 points in 231 games (just over 0.63 PPG) and who at this point is a much more developed defensive player than QB. So I believe that his team would offer him well north of $5 million on a bridge deal.
I don't think that the new coach is going to break up the Moore - Danault - Fiala line unless the Kings re-sign Viktor Arvidsson, who seems a better fit with Pierre-Luc DuBois in any event. He almost certainly won't play QB at center, thereby pushing Danault down to the fourth line, especially since most of QB's success this season was at LW.

It's utterly unrealistic to think that Los Angeles would trade either seven seasons of future captain and #1LD Mikey Anderson or two seasons of Adrian Kempe for Mitch Marner, let alone both.

if you want marner gone you are braindead
Radko Gudas is one of only two NHL-qualified RDs on the Anaheim roster (and the better of the two), his full NTC carries through the draft to July 1, and he declined to sign with the Maple Leafs last summer when he could have, so that trade isn't happening.
Anaheim doesn't need a center with Carlsson, Gauthier, McTavish and Zegras on the roster and wouldn't be interested in acquiring him to buy him out because he's owed a $7 million signing bonus by the team that owns him on July 1, so both sides of this deal are a NO for the Ducks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLInsider67</b></div><div>Look at it as 2 separate trades
1. Guhle + MTL pick for ANA pick
2. Barron + 2nd for Zegras (Zegras isn’t worth much more than that imo, he’s severely overrated)</div></div>
1. Although a very fine player, and a prospect who may mature into a #1LD, Guhle is of little interest to Anaheim because the Ducks already have Pavel Mintyukov playing #1LD. So the trade fails on that ground.
2. Player A: 211 games, 55 goals + 99 assists = 154 points, -40; Player B: 205 games, 81 goals + 68 assists = 149 points, -39
Saying those two entirely comparable players are only worth Barron and a future top-40 second is the worst misjudgment you will make until the draft.

No matter how many times you guys are told that we're not trading 7 to ten seasons of Brandt Clarke for one season of Mitch Marner, especially since he's one of only three RDs on the roster for next season, you guys stubbornly persist as if you're impervious to input. It's like the people on the <strong><em>Titanic</em></strong> who were told repeatedly about icebergs but just kept blindly steaming ahead.
To help you, here's a list of high-quality players that even Rob Blake isn't going to send you in a Mitch Marner trade, no matter what the rest of the deal looks like (within reason):
Anderson
Byfield
Clarke
Danault
Fiala
Kempe

NEW ERA Maple Leafs
All three teams decline. NY isn't about to trade five seasons of Adam Fox for one season of Mitch Marner because offense isn't a weak point for the Rangers and Norris Trophy winners don't grow on trees. Ottawa has little use (if any) for Tavares and could get something much more future-oriented for Chychrun. Kampf is of no interest to Anaheim, who are loaded with bottom-6 forwards, but might give you a sixth to take Reaves off your hands and spell Ross Johnston every other game, at least until teams stop trying to beat up on players like Marner, Zegras and Zellweger.

Real Cup Contenders
Los Angeles is in enough cap trouble as it is, and this silly trade would ADD almost $8 million to that problem, not to mention taking away one of our only two NHL-experienced RhDs. Unless you're going to take Pierre-Luc DuBois back, any Marner-to-Los-Angeles trade is mathematically impossible because we're not sending cap back via quality players with term like Anderson, Danault, Fiala, Kempe or Moore.
Marner simply isn't a good fit for either SoCal team. You Toronto guys really have to stop trying to shoehorn him in to those rosters.

I FIXED TORONTO FOR YOU READ DESCRIPTION
Why would we want to take $11 million off your hands when we have Carlsson, McTavish, Zegras and Gauthier all to play center?
One season of the three-and-a-half-year-younger 60-point Vatrano is a lot cheaper than one season of 65-point Tavares and we have the option of re-signing Frankie, which we will be both more likely and more able to do than re-sign Tavares.
Gudas declined to play in Toronto when he had the chance, and I'll bet that his feelings haven't changed. Trading him isn't in Anaheim's best interests at all because he's one of only two NHL-qualified RDs we have under contract for next season.

But you're <strong>adding</strong> cap for Los Angeles, which defeats the whole purpose of trading DuBois because he's odds-on to produce more than Anderson and Dvorak combined this coming season.
DuBois for Anderson and the second is barely conceivable, but I think Blake will tough it out for another year.
