Thread: Realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhatNowDiscussion</b></div><div>1. Mitchell is not a lock at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes the same path as Boqvist
2. Murphy is arguably the Hawks best dman when it comes to actually playing defense and I don't see him getting moved
3. I think DeHaan gets moved over Maatta just because of age and injury
4. Considering Kubs scored 30 goals as a rookie, I have a feeling his bridge deal will be closer to Laine's bridge deal in the 2x5mil range
5. I think every Hawks fan would rather see Lankinen take over as a backup rather than Delia</div></div>

1) Mitchell's game is much more mature then Boqvist coming into his first year in the league. His game is NHL whereas boqvist wasn't viewed in the same light and was forced into the role. Most of the Hawks analysts have said the same thing. Mitchell will also be 22 this coming season a good 18 months older then Boqvist and much more filled out physically.

2) If there isn't a CBO, then you have Bovist, Murphy, Mitchell and Seabs. Seabs isn't tradable as everyone knows. Boqvist and Mitchell aren't going anywhere. So there is the possibility of sliding Murphy to the right and trading Maatta and De Haan, but I don't see them trading low on De Haan and arguably, he was as good as Murphy defensively when he was healthy. Murphy is also 27 years old, so he's entering the peak of his career...what you see is what you get at this point. If the Hawks were challenging for a cup, then Murphy is more important then Kap, but realistically, they aren't.

3) De Haan is noticeably better and a true 2nd liner, Maatta is not a 2nd liner and while he is a fine 3rd liner, we have cheaper options (Koekko, Carlsson, Beaudin, etc.).

4) That is a bad comparison when you had 3 years of Laine playing in the league. Kubalik has 1 year and doesn't have arbitration rights so he either takes a fair deal or goes back to Europe. A fair deal for a player at 24 with 1 year in the league for 30 goals would be a 1 or 2 year deal in the threes, maybe $4M even tops. He doesn't have a lot of options and the Hawks need to ensure this wasn't a fluke.

5) I think that's fair but experts that cover the Hawks (The Athletic as an example) still have Delia penciled in as the #2 right now and Lankinen as the #3. Delia has a one way agreement so something to consider.
