is this the rumored ask
No thanks, as great as Chychrun may be he isn't worth 3 first round picks. That ask is far too high imo.
I would rather flip Barrie + for Murphy or Jensen. They aren't exactly great comparables but what Josh Manson did for the COL defense (albeit a deeper group) on their run to the cup was exactly what EDM needs imo.

I know what he did last year, but honestly he looks the least likely of scoring 20 at this point.
EDM needs a solution on the back end and I hope they can find it without moving JP, Yam or Foegele but I'm not sold helps coming from within

Which of the 3 is a 20 goal scorer? At this point it may take all 3 to put 20 in the net.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Who are the worst players on D so far this season in order?</div></div>
Thats a really odd question, every EDM dman has had good games and bad. My concern is the depth of the D isn't good, Nemo & Murray are 7th dman imo, Broberg is not currently contributing and its hard to assume he can contribute much this season after such a poor start. If EDM added Reilly a good 4-6 dman they would be a deeper 6 man unit.

In my opinion EDMs biggest need is defensive depth and they don't appear inclined to deal Barrie at this point. So adding Reilly takes minutes away from Nurse and Kulak which is a good thing.

They can spend Kanes cap, it just means in 3-4 months upon his return they will have to trade the equivalent of Reillys cap away ie Yam or JP or Foegele +

Skinner's offer in hindsight is light
Bouchards offer is based on the Adam Pelech contract
You can't wrap your head around dealing Barrie for cap space and a right handed bottom six centre? You also can't wrap your head around EDM trading JPs rights away rather than getting nothing for him when they ultimately decide not to qualify him?
Honestly why would Bouchard want to sign a bridge deal? Players want the security of long term deals

Honestly, he's missing that finishing threat and the Oilers depth has pushed him down to the 3rd line.
I'd love to keep him even if he never adds that scoring threat but @ $3M there just doesn't appear to be a long term fit in EDM.
And with Bourgault in the minors this season and likely making the jump to the NHL next season its my guess JPs days are numbered in EDM.

Unless JP turns it around my guess is that is dumped for a 4th or 5th this year.
Next summer JP likely doesn't get qualified based on EDMs cap situation.
I'm a JP fan but the writing is on the wall with the player imo

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>That is a whole lot of dumps to take on and on top of that you want almost $1M in retention and a 4th... CHI does not do this trade. You can say Barrie has value but he doesn't have Value to CHI. Especially if we are already burning a retention slot on Murphy. Because the only thing Barrie would possibly be good for is to be flipped, and that would require retention, in which case we would only have one retention slot available for the next two seasons and only two retention slots after that for two more seasons. CHI declines.</div></div>
The whole thing about rebuilding is you take on cap and you retain salary in order to receive better deals (weaponizing cap space).
Additionally teams will eat money in order to facilitate a trade, especially in season or around the deadline (as this trade would be)

That 4th line is 2/3 already on EDMs roster ..... Blackwell is a RH 4C option that fits one of EDMs remaining needs.
The 13th forward isn't really a concern, Benson has the lowest cap hit therefore he has a leg up on Malone imo

Cap Compliant
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Zub > Barrie.</div></div>
Disagreed, they are completely opposite players. But Zub is not a superior player
This is a hockey trade based on organizational want / need. EDM needs defense first defenders and cap space. OTT has a rumored desire for an offensive / PP dman.
Furthermore, Zub is a pending UFA. If OTT does not feel they can get a deal done it wouldn't surprise me to see him dealt as the did with Brown.
Everyone hates Barrie and disregards the good that he brings to an organization, OTT would certainly benefit on the PP by adding Barrie. Additionally if paired with a defensive minded dman (perhaps Holden) and played in a 3rd pair spot the on-ice numbers were solid.

Sub JP for Foegele & Kesserling for Samorukov ?
I do that deal everyday of the week. I wish they could keep JP around but Foegele has more to give and he fits the 3rd line more.

Regardless, I just think Seattle will maximize what they do in the draft, only trade picks to move up and pick higher or to acquire young players/prospects that truly move the needle for the franchise. All those 2nd rounders everyone trades for on here I think are capital that Francis hopes to utilize to acquire another 1st round pick. Next year, also.
Do you honestly think that Seattle would trade their second highest draft pick this year for Tyson Barrie??!!</div></div>

In a 3rd pair role with Kulak Barrie showed very well in the playoffs.

If SEA wants Barrie, I would hope they're aware that the price tag won't be this high, as there is little to no market competition for his services,</div></div>
This is the most TML bitter take I've read in a while.
Barrie is a 40-50 point RHD, with a reasonable contract.
Contract Comps: Justin Faulk, Kevin Shattenkirk, Damon Seversson ...... but hey that is off the top of my head, there is probably only another dozen or so that relate.
This is what I don't understand about the Barrie situation, he is a known commodity and teams with poor PP's should be lining up to get this player. COL moved him because of Makar, EDM should be doing the same because of Bouchard it isn't because of him being a poor player, it has everything to do with redundancy. Bouchard is on his ELC, he brings the needed offense to move on from Barrie.

Thats laughable, SEA has 4 second round picks and has a desperate need to add offence to their team. Trading a 2nd round pick (>25% chance of playing a single NHL game) for a proven NHL player with a strong track record of successes running teams powerplays.
The thought that a cost controlled 40 - 50 point RHD should fetch less than a 2nd is a joke.
Why is it players coming into EDM cost a premium but players leaving EDM are discounted?
