Jets All in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Toews just isn't worth a 23' 1st, the Jets are in a locale that just can't spend 1sts on rentals.
Those Staal boys are too past their primes to be of much help so that's not a trade the Jets should make.
Ultimately the Jets need much bigger changes if they want to go deep in the playoffs, having a defense made up of mostly 3rd pair dmen and a bottom six full of mostly AHLers isn't going to carry a team to the final.</div></div>
I mean, Eric is still on pace for 15 goals. But yeah, Marc is awful and I'd donate him anywhere for free :D

Canes need a forward who can put the puck in the net.</div></div>
He's a 30-goal scorer with a good contract. Scores on the PP and even strength. He's also responsible defensively as a former center.
The Panthers won't do this, though. A late 1st isn't enticing. This isn't much more than what they gave to Buffalo for Reinhart and that was when he hadn't scored more than 25 goals, had no deal and openly wanted out
Edit: okay, that's Philly's 2nd rounder, so almost a 1st. :D This is more than the Panthers' package to Buffalo. Still, there's no reason for the Panthers to be sellers

Who was it that reported it's more than likely Domi returns to Chicago for next season if traded now? Doesn't that lower his value?

Montour is not an UFA. And that package sure would be good for a 40-point UFA dman. Montour is not that.

He is dealing with the same injury as Pacioretty. It's reported he is still out indefinitely and not close to return. (Been this way since Dec 5)
Almost 100% that he isn't playing this season

Yeah, nobody knows for sure. But he has suffered a concussion this year already and now fights with the same injury that took Pacioretty out. I don't think the Panthers nor Hornqvist himself want to rush his return one bit

The team is intact for the next season and they have over 11M to spend during the summer. And the team still looks good on paper, Maurice just can't seem to get 50% out of this team's potential. No reason to sell, really. Maybe 4th liners like Staal, who is doing well and could fetch even a late 3rd rounder, but other than that, no.

Montour is 7th in dman scoring. Above Makar, Josi and everyone on your team. And you want retention, for next season, too.😬😬

Yeah. And with more than 11M in cap space for next season, there really isn't any reason to do anything but stand pat. Maybe trade the Staals for mid-round picks, idk. Especially Marc because he is awful :D

Aight, that about sums this conversation up :D
The Panthers' top6 scored the same amount of goals as the Oilers' (I didn't even include a 31-goal Duclair) and was much more sound defensively.
And beneath the top6, the Panthers have top6 caliber guys like Lundell and rebound candidates like White while the Oilers have guys like Foegele, lol

You could think about getting Duclair back as a deadline reinforcement. That's adding yet another 30-goal guy

Minnesota also has 15M in dead cap, so I'm not sure where you're going with that. And Minnesota, too, has a player making 7,5M
And without McDavid, the Oilers' 2nd line would be RNH-McLeod-Yamamoto. Yaiks!

Yeah, but that's a big if and could be said of multiple playoff teams. What if McDavid, Kaprizov, or Shesterkin gets injured?
