Habs realistic offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>honestly curious what the thought process in moving petry out and bringing letang in is? I know petry had a pretty horrible season but they're pretty in ability, age, and salary</div></div>
Petry wants out, and apparently Letang is open to signing in MTL. So from the Habs perspective, it makes sense to get some assets back for Petry and not have to give any up on Letang.

Lehkonen is one of the most hard-working and most underrated penalty killers in the league. Habs pass bc guys like him win in the playoffs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>Yes, Dvorak can play the center position, but I believe he’s better on the wing. I think the guy you need to add on this list is Nick Schmaltz. I would say he is available, and supposedly everyone from the coyotes roster is available for trade except for Jacob Chychrun. Same as Domi, he is better on the wing also.</div></div>
I was under the impression Dvorak transitioned to centre full time, but I don't really follow the Yotes so idk

Marcus Johansson is more suited as a winger</div></div>

Management and the media hated him because he had too much personality for hockey.

Agree with this 100%. He was made a scapegoat for the team's lack of success, but everything I've heard from his former teammates like Weise is that everyone loved him.

I still have a huge softspot for PK, and would love to see him back in MTL. I still think he's a good defenseman, just definitely not a top pairing one. Could thrive in a 3rd pairing role. And if it's only for one year on his retained contract, I think it'd be a good move.

MTL offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>Danault turned down 5M/year, he wont accept lower.
You are 400k short on Lehkonen QO.
Seattle will have plenty of 3rd pairing Dman, no use for Kulak.
IMO Anaheim would want a ready to play player + futures for Rackell. It's a generous offer, but not what they need.</div></div>
I agree on the other stuff except for Danault, I think that his value has dropped since last summer and he's not worth the 5m he was initially offered. He's been tremendous for us in the playoffs, but if he's only a shutdown guy then he's not worth 5+ imo.

I'm just not that high on the players I'd give up for Kuz, especially considering we would get out from Byron's contract. I don't rate Guhle super highly, and don't think KK's potential is as high as Kuz's floor is

Goaltending
I agree that Gibson would be a near-perfect add to the Penguins but I just can't see the Ducks giving him up, especially not for anything that the Penguins could offer. Years of trading away picks and prospects has caught up with them, and they have nearly nothing of significant value that would interest the Ducks.

Pretty good value for the Preds on the first trade, but I can't see the Ducks accepting anything near that offer (especially with the retained $). It would have to take at least a 1st for the Ducks to trade Getzlaf imo

If the Leafs never signed JT91
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheNewAge</b></div><div>No thanks on Domi, I'd love him but for a prospect like Robertson and 15 in a deep draft? Yeah, no.
Bruins would never do that.
A second for Reaves? Rather bring Matt Martin back.
Nylander isnt going to be traded with JT here, let alone without him here.</div></div>
- My thinking is that the Leafs don't have time to wait for prospects to develop, as the 15th overall pick would likely take 2 maybe even 3 years. They need quality NHLers on the ice, now. Plus the Leafs get a relatively high 2nd back.
- I literally said in the explanation that I'm not sure if the Bruins do it, the only way I can see it is it it's to retain Krug.
- If Leafs fans want to start contending, they're going to face the reality of the prices that contenders pay. Tampa gave up two 1sts for Coleman and Goodrow. If I feel like Reeves is the right fit in Toronto, and I do, then I'd be willing to give up a 2nd if it helped the team win at least 4 playoff games.
- I've never been high on Nylander, and would be totally happy seeing him get traded. If it brings in a guy like Dumba, then the Leafs should strongly consider it (Tavares or no Tavares)

Both those guys weren't coming off seasons where they were the no. 2/3D on a cup winning team - Sergachev is much more proven then they were at this stage of his career. With the market looking the way it is, I'd be looking for the best and longest financial security possible. Even if he were to take a bridge deal, it'd a lot more similar to Laine's in the 6+ range.

Habs pass, any deal with the Avs involving Domi has to start with Graves. We have no need for a liability in Zadorov, a bottom 6 center in Jost (for now), and a 2nd.
