Blues fans acting like Snuggerud and a middle first round pick is out of the question for a young elite winger blows my mind.

Patrick Kane is more of an offseason add, like Giroux for the Sens last season. Final homecoming

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aktobos71</b></div><div>I know. But its Meier worth losing some of it now? This can tamper their progress in long term.</div></div>
I think so. Buffalo is on the verge of making the playoffs. Now's the time to trade in quantty for quality and really build a great core. Let's say the price for Meier ends up being Savoie + Krebs + a mid-round pick.
Where does this leave Buffalo in the near future?
Thompson, Quinn, Cozens, Power, Tuch, Dahlin, Samuelsson all locked in essentially. Ostlund, Skinner, Asplund, Kulich, Rosen are all going to be nice contributors as well. Add Meier to the mix and I think you have an elite core led by Dahlin-Power (one of the best pairings in the entire league). Meier is only 26 and gives you an elite power forward for the next 5 years. If Buffalo can add a legit starting goalie this offseason by leveraging some of their prospects, that's a team that's ready to contend as soon as next season.
Prospects are great to have but there's a time to buy at the end of a rebuild, that time is now for the Sabres

Increased price by including Vrana's contract. Is Edvinsson in play? The prospect I'm most interested in.

If Snuggerud is where you draw the line, then not a chance Meier is going to be a Blue. St. Louis has nothing else of interest in terms of prospects or young players.

1. I would look to combine the Kerfoot and Gavrikov deals into one.
Send off Kerfoot, a 1st, a 3rd, and a pick conditional on Nyquist's return for Gavrikov and Nyquist. Columbus should be happy with this return and can even retain on Kerfoot and flip to a contender separately.
2. The Connor Brown trade doesn't benefit Toronto

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Haymaker26</b></div><div>I think Pittsburgh takes that, but they could also use a decent middle-six option or two.
is SJS willing to move either Labanc or Barabanov, and if so, what do Sharks fans think either would cost?</div></div>
I wouldn't think Pittsburgh is interested in Labanc, although he's quite underrated. The obvious Penguins to move are Kapanen, Carter, and DeSmith. Barabanov seems like a much better fit, an upgrade on Kapanen and cheaper, and provides good two-way play. I would think Kapanen + a 2nd would do it for Barabanov. Not looking backward at what Rutherford paid for Kapanen but looking at his realistic value right now it's what makes the most sense to me. Would hope for a bit of a resurgence from Kap next season for a Sharks' deadline move, and Barabanov was a great waiver pickup.
What would you think of Bonino (50% retention) + Barabanov for Kapanen, a 2nd, and a 4th? Let's cut out the 7th here.

Draft picks are highly overrated, mostly by fans but a lot of analysts as well.</div></div>
"Draft picks are highly overrated" OK, try building an NHL franchise without drafting players ;)
Hagel possibly the most overrated and overhyped player since Dustin Penner, whoever gives up the farm for such an average player will only regret it in a few months. Buying high on a player with an unsustainable shooting percentage being propped up by Patrick Kane is a noob move

Hagel sporting an unsustainable 21.3 shooting percentage on the year...so yeah, his trade value is being massively overstated right now. A first round pick is a run away win for Chicago, let alone a first AND prospect

Robertson will be on the team next year with a sub 900k aav. Quite possibly the best addition to the team next season. Also I don't consider maple leafs hot stove as a legitimate source. Again yes to the idea but a realistic price (as stated in the article).
I'd give it maybe a 10% chance Mrazek gets traded in season. Off season? Absolutely but you cannot trade goalies like him before the playoffs. Goalies who can legitimately start games and push your starter are far too valuable imo.</div></div>
Hotstove article contains sources from insiders such as Frank Seravalli (quite accurate).
It's funny, I'm getting pushback on both ends of the spectrum here. Some believe Toronto is giving up too much here, and some believe Toronto has to add a significant amount to the trade. Which is it?

Coleman is a much, much better two-way winger than Hagel, and hit two straight 20G seasons prior to that trade. Hagel is a pretty good player but his trade value is being absolutely overblown here, not to mention the fact that he's riding an unsustainable shooting percentage (close to 20%).

So you're saying...Brandon Hagel, the world's most random sudden superstar, is worth more than a 1st round pick and Nick Robertson?
Mrazek isn't REALLY a cap dump, to be honest he's just a good fit in Chicago. They have literally nothing planned between the pipes beyond this season, even Lankinen is a pending UFA. At $3.8M, he's a decent gamble for some streaky good goaltending over the next 2 seasons while they re-tool.

Pretty much what I was going for here. Carpenter is a coach favourite and seems like a good fit in NYR for a playoff run; Gauthier gets the Rangers something in return at the very least, can perhaps squeeze 10 goals or so out of him next season while they re-tool.

I know everyone player is God according to this cite, but realistically Hagel is a great complimentary winger for really good players. He is not the main play driver on his line. If he is worth that, does bunting get 3 first? Where does it end? Chicago needs a full rebuild. A first in a very deep draft along with a solid centre prospect is a good start.</div></div>
I didn't just make this up lol.
Mrazek, Robertson, and Hagel are all involved in trade rumors.
https://mapleleafshotstove.com/2022/02/18/toronto-maple-leafs-trade-target-brandon-hagel/
I also think it's in Toronto's best interest to move Mrazek and free up cap space for next season
