IF THE SABRES ARE SMART
You don't need to retain on ROR there are a lot of teams that would pay more then a 1st rounder for him. Also, you traded the 2019 1st rounder I think you mean 2018.

Outside of the box
All trades are one sided as Montreal is getting better value then they are trading away except maybe the Chicago deal. That is not how Bergevin does business!

Skill and Leadership (UFA: Tavares / Trades: STL, WPG, DAL / PTO: Vermette)
It would take more then Willie and a 2nd to get a legit #1 RHD in Pietrangelo.
As the Jets are in win now mode before having to sign Connor and Laine to big deals I think Myers is staying in the peg unless the offer is too good to refuse or addresses a need.
Don't give up on Zaitsev just yet, he was the Leafs best Dman the first few weeks of the season before the injury and illness bugs got him. Don't get me wrong, he isn't as good as Rielly but he is a lot better then the season he had.
I like the thoughts on Vermette, If Tavares did sign in T.O. the 4th line becomes a situational line that would only get 8-10 minutes a game, maybe less.

What could you get for Nylander from every team
I only agree with a couple of these, in saying that, what bothers me most is the extensions for Doughty and Karlsson. Unless they both have a terrible seasons in 2018-19, they will both command 10 million +

JT to the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BlueSage</b></div><div>As much as I like Tavares in Toronto this presents multiple issues:
1. 2019 cap problem - check your numbers - add possibly $22 - 25 million to resign Matthews, Marner, Kapanen. How do you then afford the rest of the team?
2. That defense is still horrible!
3. Minor point - shouldn't have to pay so much to get Matt Martin off our hands. Would still hold some value to some GM's looking for grit.
4. Minor point - McElhinney could probably fetch more given his strong season and the number of teams looking for a good backup. Could also make him part of a larger package to teams like NYI or CAR
5. Minor point - Dominic Moore? Lots of better options...</div></div>
1. The Cap Space can be created. A trading of Marleau, Brown etc. Hainsey/Gardiner/Carrick/Leivo will all be off the books next year coupled with the fact the Cap will reach 82-83 million for 2019/20, The Leafs will find the Cap needed. I realize those players will need to be replaced but they will find the Cap needed. Also I'll add that I doubt the Cap for JT in Toronto, should he sign there, be 12 million per... more like 10/10.5 and deals with Underarmour/Canadian tire and others are believed to be offered pending he sign in Toronto. They did the same in the Stamkos offer and those rumors have been circulating the past couple days.
2. I agree the D isn't great but it seems there is some hope that Zaitsev will bounce back and rumors that Gardiner is being dealt, he could fetch a good return maybe included as part of a package to bring in a Dman.
3. I agree with you that Martin holds more value and I have to think he is part of the pitch for JT as he and JT and their wags are friends.
4. I agree McElhinney could fetch a bit more but he is 35 entering the final year of his contract and has reached his ceiling... maybe a 4th rounder.
5. I agree 100%. Bring in one of Letestu/Beagle/Ryan/Grant/Gibbons on a 1 year deal the Leafs can make them an offer most teams can't for 1 year

2018-19 Sharks roster hopeful after Boedker trade
Brodziak, Fehr and Hansen accept but the rest decline those contracts and Karlsson will fetch more then that.
With still having to sign Hertl and Tierney this year, I still don’t see how the Sharks can sign JT given they have to resign so many players next year.

Trading Dahlin...
Buffalo isn't close to winning with their current lineup and are still in rebuilding mode, trading a projected franchise player for a franchise player who is 9 or 10 years older would get you fired. That said, I think Karlsson would look good paired with Dahlin. A deal can be made to get Karlsson for Risto or ROR included with picks/prospects, but I would have to think in order to maximize Karlsson's value he would have to be extended and then traded or an extension agreed upon with his new team before being traded.

Tons of cap room ...
I think you're right in your thoughts but I have to think that Bergevin has to be making aggressive offers for RNH and/or ROR... maybe something out of Ottawa, Duchene or Pageau. After the way last season went he has to be thinking its now or never if he wants to remain GM. I just hope for the teams sake he doesn't over commit to someone during free agency.

That’s a start, I’m sure the Sabres will be asking for more then just that pick.
It has to be a center, right?
Galchenyuk was the closest thing they had to a top 6 center. Domi played a little center at the end of the year but by no means is he a center. I have to think Montreal has to be aggressively hunting down a couple Centers.
Also I thought I’d just add that 4 of the 9 goals Domi scored were empty net goals lol.

(MTL / ARI) - Domi for Galchenyuk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Domi is younger. Puts up the same points. Will be cheaper. Chucky has more wear and tear. how does he have better potential?</div></div>
13 months younger is hardly worth mentioning and just comparing the raw numbers side by side Domi will be cheaper because he isn't as good... in regards to potiental there is no point to argue, both kids have their full careers ahead of them, once that is over we can argue who was better in future years. We've seen this type of deal before, in that, Bergevin has had his hand forced to trade Chucky because of the coach not wanting him. That said I am a fan of Domi but Galchenyuk is a better scorer in a league where goals are the premium.
I should add that I hope Domi scores 25 or 30 next year and Weber plays a full year for the Habs, its been bad deal after bad deal for Bergevin

My thoughts exactly.
I'll also add that Zaitsev was money the first 10 games of the year and got concussed then came back and then before he could catch up to the NHL pace he got some illness where he lost like 15lbs and by the time he came back from that there was no catching up... Lets see what we have next year before trading him. After the rookie season he had he deserves another look.

Maple Leafs Reasonable Offseason - Armchair GM series
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Not sure why the Leafs would trade McBackup for nothing. Sparks and Pickard are not sure things. Moore didn't play much late in the season even at # 4, he won't be back. Why does Floirda give a player for basically meaningless rights? And what's the benefit for JVR? And what Logan above said.</div></div>
I assume he traded McElhinney because both he and Sparks are both on 1 way deals for next year so one of them will have to clear waivers to go to the AHL. So, considering age and what Sparks did last year it is logical that McElhinney is the odd man out.
That said, that is a high ask for JVR’s rights until July 1st when he is a UFA.
I agree with what the others said about Bozak and Green
