Winnipeg Jets signed Collin Delia (1 Year / $775,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheFastAndTheFleuryous</b></div><div>Right, I get that he is not a good goalie, but I was more referring to the contract that he got.</div></div>
Yes he will make 750 if he sucks with the Jets which is cheap but he gets 750 if he sucks on the Moose. Bottom line remains though he sucks above the ECHL level at this stage in career. Should be an agent at Remax instead.

My goodness the Jets are a cheap organization. Who is paying $135 for a ticket to watch Delia tend goal. Missing Rittich already.

Another guy going to the Leafs eh. Must be hard getting seats on flights to Toronto with all the players going there.

Dach is a keeper, Dvorak is way overrated and Ylonen is a big question mark. Vilardi has great potential with his only knock being bad luck with injuries for the last 2 years, Iafallo while small is a gamer Kupari is a big question mark and a couple of spots in round 2 maybe bah. Montreal wasn't trading Dach anyways but even if they did I still take the Kings package

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Koskinen_The_Great</b></div><div>Its 31 and 37. Pretty much 2 2nds for a talented, hard working, good skating kid. Unless someone like Cristall or Gulyayev fell.. Its very mid. The draft falls off after picks 20-22. Its a top heavy draft. Lots of talk that Armstrong in St Louis is moving both his late 1sts at 25+29 as well. Some are convinced he wont make those picks at such as Elliot Friedman.</div></div>
Might give The Avalanche the chance to pick the first goalie but otherwise third liners by these picks

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CSStrowbridge</b></div><div>Normally, I would agree with you, but, and this is a big butt, the 2023 draft is very deep. Both of those draft picks could turn out to be worth more than Alex Newhook.</div></div>

Sure it is a deep draft for the first 20 picks although after that it is rolling dice like every other year. It is not a case of this years 3rd rounders would be firsts any other year as it is just top heavy.

Newhook really has not progressed in Colorado now we will see if that is lack of opportunity or unrealistic ceiling. For what is essentially two 2nd rounders it is a good gamble for the Canadiens

I voted yes as the Sharks have issues with depth so the smart GM does not give up on anyone under team control because if you are short on D and the guy you gave up on is playing minutes on a competitor that would make Grier look incompetent.

(PIT/ANA) - Caulfield for Nickl
While neither of these 2 have made a clear case to get a contract I voted for Pittsburgh because Nickl has 1 more season to show something while Caulfield is on the clock with August15th UFA time approaching. Can see a team trying a 1 year contract to see what he does in the AHL but seems to me he would want 3 years and will probably wait for August if he does not get it.

Plus Podkolzin needs to wake up and reach his potential. Thus far he has been pretty much a waste of talent. I am still pulling for him but I think some tough love is needed.

Dallas Stars signed Chase Wheatcroft (3 Years / $915,833 AAV)
He went from third line on a stacked team to go to guy on a mediocre team. He definitely showed impressive growth as a player but the results need to be tempered by his situation and the fact he is one of the oldest players in a development league. I think he can be a good AHLer but is a longshot for NHL time.

Can see Buffalos point in trying to do a reclamation with him as you cant teach size and before he developed this fumble the puck off your skates every time it is passed to you routine he was looking pretty promising.

(SJS/WPG) - Namestnikov for 4th
So Chevy gives up Eyssimont for nothing in a waiver claim that was ill advised on his part to begin with ( to keep recent pickup Kuhlman) then gives up a 4th for the guy San Jose got straight up for Eyssimont which no doubt means Kuhlman goes back on waivers to open the spot. Classic asset mismanagement on Chevys part. And by the way anyone who thinks the jets tailspin coinciding with them losing Eyssimont is a coincidence should look at it again as the Jets had the right mix going and then they had to tinker with it which I could not understand as I thought Eyssimont was one of the Jets better bottom pairing option (skates well and works his butt off) when he was in Winnipeg.

(SJS/COL) - Merkley, Nieto for MacDonald, Kaut
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nathaniel</b></div><div>Another weird trade for Grier, who downgrades on forward and defense with this trade. Weird they didn't get so much as a draft pick back as an incentive. Grier seems to be pretty keen on trading away young players as of late. Kaut could be something, but he isn't enough for me to move Merkley without getting anything back. Plus, knowing Colorado's luck, Merkley will become the stud everyone thought he would.
It's not like this is going to hurt San Jose at all considering Merkley requested a trade, it's just weird. Hopefully Nieto didn't sell his place in Colorado</div></div>
I think San Jose gains defensively as Merkley is a complete miss but then so is Kautb so it becomes Nieto for MacDonald which Colorado wins hands down. Maybe Grier sees Nieto as worthless.

Steel has been surprisingly competent centering Kap this year. Kap/Steel/Zucc is really the only line that has worked for MN, so no real need to tinker with it until it doesn't work anymore.
I'd rather see Boldy moved to JEE's line and see if that clicks before making other adjustments.</div></div>
Steel was never used properly in Anaheim (but then again who does) so i knew he was a steal the moment Minny got him

(ARI/TOR) - Timmins for Douglas
I have not voted on this one because i think both teams lose. Arizona gets a player that teams keep being tantalized by his size (Dallas drafted him and dropped him, Ottawa gave him a coffee in Belleville and dropped him. Leafs signed him gave him a long look saw he could not produce in the AHL and dropped him, Arizona are you seeing a pattern here? For the Leafs yes, they gave up very little for an NHL guy but an NHL guy who has missed more time as a pro than he has spent on any roster and their purpose is to use him as an injury fill-in which given his history is a mighty big risk given, they are counting on him in a big way. Dekeyser or Russell while close to the end of their usefulness have both remained healthy throughout their careers and would have been a much safer idea.
