Not even close to getting Alex Debrincat, Quality for quality not quantity for quality.</div></div>
I was under the assumption that they would move wherever he gets traded if it is a US team (obviously he wouldn't waive for Canada anyway).
The CGY trade is as much about freeing up cap space as it is for MTL to get a decent goalie to go 1A/1B with Allen.
Debrincat trade is essentially 3x 1st round picks , 2nd round pick, 3rd pick and a 5th round pick for potentially 1 to 3 years of Debrincat (if he leaves via UFA status). Hoffman for 2 years really wouldn't hurt the Hawks anyway if they are fully rebuilding.

Any of these trades fair based off trade descrpition
Everyone is getting lost in the fact that I only asked if the trades were fair....I didn't even say this was "potential" moves lol.....Just wanted to know what it would take to make each trade work.
As for the ARI weber trade. You can argue it all you want, but at the end of the day ARI doesn't have to go to the $62M cap floor and can sit around $55M. Hell, they can even make another trade or two exactly like this proposed Weber trade and end up paying out less then $50M on the team while remaining above the cap floor. For a team where every dollar counts, that's big.
Also whoever said they can just sign UFAs.....do you really think they can afford to be paying a UFA $$$$$ to come to ARI.....and would a UFA even go to ARI on a 1 year deal ? Too many variables in that scenario for ARI....Just take the Weber contract, take the Klefbom contract from EDM and they can sit as below the cap floor as possible. And this team is gonna do moves like that.

Farrell who is like a B prospect at best
Mysak who will be in an out of the NHL for a few years before heading to Europe to finish his career
But keep going off on how superior your players are in comparison.
You say yzerman would take that and run, yeah he would run away laughing at this offer and then spit on your fan base for being so delusional per usual</div></div>
Yet another person who believes that Petry has negative value. I bet you also believed that Chiarot, Kulak and Lehkonen had negative value too right ? Sheesh......Petry got off to a bad start for sure but finished with 25? points in 35? games (numbers might be off by 1 or 2) under MSL. On track again for his usual 40+ point season under MSL. But yet.....he's a cap dump right......get off my post

Pelletier is a undersized winger who hasnt played a nhl game at 21 years old. Dvorak was a full time NHLer at the same age. Jakob is a good prospect but he isnt a top 10 or 15 affiliated prospect.
It will cost more than a 2nd to move Monahan. a 6.25 million cap hit that was healthy scratched this season.</div></div>
Every time I've done a BAGM people say that Dvorak is a cap dump. Persoanlly I think he's a good 2C but most people on here for some reason treat him as a cap dump.

I don't think it's even more realistic. Pelletier is an outstanding prospect and if the Habs traded for him alone it would cost more then a 1st. Swapping 3 years of Dvorak for 1 year of Monahan in the deal to gain more cap space for the 2023 off-season when plenty of big names are scheduled to hit UFA would be a smart decision.

One year contract and trade at the TDL. Lost of veterans do this. Makes a lot of sense from his perspective as well, as he doesn't have to move his family and gets a shot at a cup at the end of the season

Thanks. I do think it's interesting as well. I wanted to include Dvorak over Petry in the trade initially, but I figured put Petry in there to grant his request to move closer to home and also add a cap dump from the CBJ side. I think with a little bit of fiddling this trade could actually work for both teams

I was just going based off the draft rankings I've seen online. Definitely draft BPA but I'd like for them to draft Nemac in either spot after 1oa. And personally I don't want to sign Forsberg but Gaudreau will cost way to much and I'd rather wait and pray that Huberdeau becomes available.

But as I said above if the Miller trade went through you don't sign Strome and probably target a class below Gaudreau. Someone like Forsberg (IMO not in Gaudreau class) would work or even if Slav was drafted this year and slotted into that top 6 LW role.
Hell id even run Roy as 2C for one year and put Pitlick as 3C.
I'll try to stay off the liquor and post a similar GM thread later tonight

While I was definitely drunk in my last two BAGM on here, I believe my thought process last night was that Miller would be a strong replacement for leadership in the lineup if Gallagher could be moved in the offseason. Plus I believe to sign Miller long term would cost far less then it would be to sign someone like Gaudreau or Forsberg from UFA. Could also use Miller as 2C instead of signing Strome and go after a winger.
And you are right about the other two bozos. I really don't know how VAN would decline such a deal, especially since I didn't even say Miller signs an extension upon trade completion.

Canadiens aren't trading Price for that little. He doesn't leave the organization without a solid player, a solid prospect, and a couple first rounders coming back. Regardless of his reputation which overinflates his value, he is the face of that franchise and they clearly aren't ready to pass the torch from Price to Monty or Primeau.</div></div>
It drives me nuts that people think he is a cap dump now. He went superhuman in the playoffs last year, ran into an injury problem and then, from what I read online, losing in the cup final and finding out about Weber, and then the issues with his family surrounding his substance abuse with what was suspected to be painkiller type opioids and the subsequent fallout from that and then setbacks during rehab, he is still one of the best goalies on the planet. The same people who think Price is a cap dump and not worth it anymore are the same people who said Chiarot would not fetch a first, Lehkonen wouldn't fetch a first, Kulak wouldn't fetch a 4th, etc. IF Price is traded this summer he will fetch a decent return. Maybe not an overpay but definitely a decent pay.

Petry was in Norris consideration one year ago....now he is a bum who is a cap dump ? And you don't think the entire team being a dumpster fire under Ducharme didn't have anything to do with it ? Wife and kids leaving Montreal to move back to the Michigan area and him living alone didn't have an effect on him ? GMs most definitely still value Petry........same as us fans

Does VGK not need cap relief anymore ? CGY takes Gallagher back because MTL does retain to bring his contract cat hit down to $ 4.75M which I think is digestible for him. And I would imagine the only way that trade even takes place if CGY likes it is if MTL can sign Tkachuk long term.

If I am reading it right, Habs retain on Chiarot and Klingberg at the 2022 TDL and subsequently those retentions end the first day of FA (typically July 1). Habs then retain on 2 separate players during the summer unless the EDM deal is made at the 2022 TDL then yes you're right you can't retain on more then 3 contracts. However, if it is made at the TDL do you really think Keith waives his NMC ? Highly unlikely. That makes that trade a wash. Only way it happens is during the offseason where the team acquiring him buys him out.

Supply and demand. 12 teams (reportedly) after Chiarot and only one Chiarot to trade. The cost for him is gonna get inflated, especially if MTL retains 50%.
I also do not think he is worth more then a 2nd but I also won't be surprised if he fetches a bit more then a 1st.
