Everyone except maybe Edmonton says no. Arizona got little, they’re not taking on Weber too. That Dallas trade is horrid for them. Calgary isn’t giving up their best goalie prospect for drouin and a 2nd

Teams don't pay assets to hit the cap floor. That's absurd. Why would Arizona move back instead of just signing a UFA

You still don’t know why ? Not saying either team will trade assets, but Weber is CHEAP. We all know Arizona are poor, so getting a player CHEAP in real money but with an high cap hit is great for them

I'm tired of explaining it every time man honestly. How people don't understand that after even the "good analysts" on tv (Lebrun/DD/Bob/Freidman/etc) have said as much multiple times

Stars decline easily, at this point you’re lucky to get positive value for Hoffman. Half retained at most he’s hauling a 3rd, not a top prospect

And most people are tired of explaining that Arizona can get PAID to take LTIR contracts that are likely to be covered by insurance anyways, and don’t run another 4 years. If they want to take a contract every single year for the next 4 they can, but they’re not locking themselves into that. You and your fellow habs fans love to ignore that simple fact.

Weber's contract, if they put him on IR, counts for 7.857M on the cap, but only cost 3M next year, then 1M for the next 3 years. Coyotes owners would save more than 25M over 4 years.

Still not worth giving up assets. That's hoping against hope

Maybe it’s gonna be MTL giving a late pick or MTL getting an AHLer back. They almost sent the contract of Weber to ARI at the TDL but they missed time, Dreger said they will do it this offseason

So at the end of the day you trade Drouin and a 2nd for Lavoie and eat up a bunch of cap in the process.

Hoffman is a cap dump. Even if he manages 55 he still has term remaining, is over paid, and on the wrong side of 30. Def not pulling a top prospect any time soon

He's not "saving" anything. He's paying out $6M for a player who will never set foot in the state of Arizona.

With over half the teams pushing the cap limit each year, there will be plenty of people lining up to buy Arizona's cap space.

Weber's contract would count for 7.8M on the cap, allowing them to reach the 62M cap floor. But in fact, they would be paying about 56M in real salary. That's how they "save" 25M over 4 years.

Pretty sure Coyotes owners would like that.

You're asking them to give up a 1st round pick for the privilege of paying out $6M real dollars for a player that will never play for them? That's just silly.

I didn't create this thread. However, he is not asking for a 1st. He is giving MTL 2nd (33 overall) and a 4th for Colorado's 1st (probably 30-32), so he's only moving up 1 to 3 spot, and add a 4th as compensation. So he's basically giving Weber for nothing. I personally think Weber will be traded to AZ for either a late pick or future considerations (nothing).

You don't seem to understand how they would save 25M+ over the next 4 years, or don't think Coyotes owners would drool over a contract like Weber's, so i won't bother explaining anymore.

Anymore? You haven't explained anything. I realize there's a difference between Weber's cap hit and his salary, but you're still asking Arizona's cash-strapped owners to pay out $6M in cash for a player that won't suit up for even 1 game. Even of they don't hate the idea, I don't see why they would PAY for the privilege. There are plenty of teams willing to send them low-cost cap and even give them picks / prospects to make a deal work. No need to pay Montreal for their cap when others will pay AZ to take theirs.

You're right, many teams would send them draft pick to dump a bad contract, but none of those contracts are built like Weber's. And with them playing in a 5000 seats arena next years, i think they like the idea to spend 55M instead of 62M.

Also, i just said he's probably traded for nothing, and you keep pretending i'm asking them to pay for it. I think there might be 2-3 teams interested in Weber's contract, and Coyotes MIGHT give a 7th to make sure they get it. I don't think Coyotes owners priority is drafting 7th rounders right now.

There are other contracts built like Webers, and there are insured LTIR contracts they could pick up which wouldn't require $6M in cash payouts.

Just from Edmonton, Duncan Keith's $5.5M deal would only cost $1.5M in cash, while Klefbom's $4.167M contract wouldn't cost anything. They have TONS of options that they would get paid to take.

Keith have a front loaded contract too, but he have a full NMC and only waived it to be traded to Edmonton.

Klefbom going on LTIR doesn't help them save money reaching cap floor. Weber would go in IR, counting for 7.8M against the cap, but only cost 1M.

AZ wouldn't have Klefbom on LTIR obviously. shakes head
