Carolina Hurricanes signed Caleb Jones (1 Year / $775,000 AAV)
Solid young bottom pairing D at league min, why not. It's looking more like that Skjei/Pesce are gone and it makes me pretty sad but we'll have to wait and see. Jones is an analytical darling and the more competition at training camp and preseason is always good. Solid 7D if he doesn't make the lineup, and welcome to the canes better Jones.

(CAR/PHI) - Rizzo, 2025 5th (CAR) for Kase
This is a really pointless trade for the Canes and Don Waddel, and Briere got a really good prospect out of this. Rizzo in Denver has just kept getting better and more has become a dominant presence in the NCAA. I can see a world where Rizzo never works out at the NHL level, but I see another really high chance of him becoming a solid middle-six forward playmaker. For me I see this is a compensation for TDA, and is a really pointless trade......gotta hope Kase makes the roster I guess????, fleece by Philly.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Sebastian Aho (8 Years / $9,750,000 AAV)
Massive signing, and this is one I've been waiting for months to see and I couldn't be any more f***ing happy man lmao. For months this contract has been rumored at 8x9.5, and I couldn't' care less in honesty that he got 250k more at 9.75 mil. Aho is such a great leader (and should be our captain sooner or later), and is one of the best two-way first line centers in the league, and always shows up in the playoffs. Amazing signing for us, and so happy to have Aho back for 9 more years.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Anthony Deangelo (1 Year / $1,675,000 AAV)
This is somewhere about a 800k overpay for a guy who should be making league min. This has been a move that has been coming for months, at least we didn't have to give up anything.....besides important cap space. This move is a unneeded one that now creates a logjam on the blueline, I really hope TDA isn't the guy that's replacing Pesce or really anybody on the team, and should be the permanent 7D. Bad signing.

Good pay raise for a good defensive bottom 6 guy. From this poll seems like he's a little underrated, he's earned this contract definitely.

Great contract for a guy who should be breaking out sooner or later. He is also the best soccer player in the league by far, what a way to get your first NHL goal, good deal.

Pretty cool to see an Norwegian born guy to get signed to an ELC, love this dude. Our prospect development camp just ended, so it seems like the Canes must've liked what they saw to sign him to an ELC. Here's hoping for a good year for Leksands, preferably in the SHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dickie_boon</b></div><div>people will look back and say that drafting him over fantilli made sense. hes a beast</div></div>
I think Fantilli will ultimately be better then Carlsson, but both had insane pre-draft years in their respective leagues. But only so many guys can do what Fantilli did. and I really like Carlsson as well.

He was suppose to go a little earlier, idk the last finn to go in the 35-36 range was pretty good (not saying he will be close to Aho). Good shot, and hoping for a good year with HIFK for him.

Some smart people on here clearly since it's a 50/50 split lmao. Very harmless signing, and will probably not make the lineup, but when needed he will be a tough guy. At best he cracks the lineup, at worst he's in the ahl, good signing.

I personally think Cogs is a fine 7D, and a great guy, and this is a good contract. His offensive ability/potential could be off the charts, but his not so good defensive game overrides his offense. Cogs is still young enough to carve out an nhl role, but we'll have to see.

We're never that close to 50 contracts, we max out at 45, since Chicago use to sign so many guys to an AHL contract. Also we don't have an AHL team for next year.....so we can't really sign him to an ahl contract.

We currently have 35 contracts on our team, Mendel has deserved this contract by working hard and playing every Chicago Wolves game this past year, he's earned this.

Love this deal, and as much as he's hatable oh boy it's gonna be fun having him on the team. We get pushed around a lot so maybe he'll be a force who pushes back. I would've liked a slightly lower cap hit but it's an fine contract. Welcome to the canes Bunting,

man Waddel you had a good streak going. Don't like this signing at all, not only is it a massive overpayment, but he turns 32 in a couple weeks and he's also a LD.....We need goal scoring and that sounds like a Skjei replacement who scored almost 20 goals. We're now in cap hell, such a terrible contract. what happened to the goal scoring additions Waddel???????????, Orlov doesn't score goals.

While I'm sad Freddie might be gone, this is a very harmless contract. 1.5 mil for what Raanta brings at this point in his career is great value, I will be interested to see if Raanta and Kochetkov will be the goalies for next season.

Fast has had some great couple years here in Carolina. Great 3rd liner, with speed and forecheking, and amazing defensive play. Quickie did all this while putting up 29 points too, and 6 goals in the playoffs. Love this contract and happy quickie is sticking around.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Jordan Staal (4 Years / $2,900,000 AAV)
Everyone will look at this and say 4 years, but the best part about this is that the aav is fine, and the contract is front loaded. This contract also doesn't count as a 35+ contract, so if he decides to retire early there will be no recapture penalty. There's the NMC and the NTC but I don't think there was any concern of us moving him anyways. I like this contract and I'm stoked to have such a great leader and character back on this team.
