Absolute steal. Haula is so underrated, I pegged him getting 4Mil plus

A 3x3 for a guy in his early 30s... There's a good chance that contract might not end up so well

Haula was a really nice fit for the Devils. Nice to see the guy get some term after bouncing around so much

As much as I very much dislike Haula, and the entire canes nation does too, great contract for a great 3c

Was perfect for the C/W role on Hughes’ line. Contract goes from $3.9m in year one to $2.4m in year three. So we likely had to add the 3rd year to buy down the AAV. Was hoping for between $2.75m to $3m. Good signing though.

Solid 3C veteran for a solid aav. Probably don’t want 3 years but he’s a guy thats most valuable in the playoffs and the Devils will be seeing a lot of those the next few years. I don’t mind it at all.

He can actually hit the net, unlike a specific former Devil…

Haula left at least 1 million on the table. Really happy to see him return.

The third year may be a concern, but it’s a contract that shouldn’t hamper your team. Good business from Fitzy.

For some reason I see this deal getting dumped with a sweetener after next year. I won’t disagree with the devils fans saying it’s good for them though!

Bad signing by Haula, too short contract for that cap hit. Brilliant signing by Fitzgerald though.

A lot of people are saying the third year will be a problem. However, the salary drops in the third year and there's only a six-team no-trade clause, so it is very movable. Also, the Cap should be north of $90 million by then.

Good deal, Haula's a good 3rd liner and we've seen some 3rd liners get much more lucrative deals

Hes what we need on the third line and in the playoffs, Dougies contract isnt gonna age well either but what matters is if it is a sensible gamble.

I can see that argument about he's what you need in the playoffs but I'm super weary about sending a player like him to a contract his age

I mean we did it with Palat (more term and AAV obv); not the best first season due to injury but I think its going to pay off at some point.

I like the AAV and term, noting that the AAV probably would have been higher if the term was shorter. He had some injury issues a few years ago, which likely contributed to his bouncing around and not doing well on his last two contracts, but after playing three full seasons those problems seem to be behind him, and he’s firmly re-established as a reliable middle-6 forward. I was surprised to find that he's already 32 years old -- I didn't think he'd been around that long -- but he should be able to hang on until he's 35. I wouldn’t have given him a no-trade clause though. Teams need the flexibility to tweak that part of their lineup.

Had him at 3x2.75M or 2x3.5M. Seems like a fair contract.
