Kinda random, I looked through their prospect pool and picks a player that hasn't played to much and I think could be expendable to CBJ

Sorry if I got it wrong, I thought that the report was they wanted to trade for him but Nashville came in with a better offer last minute. My mistake obviously if wrong.

FOR FREE. We were ostensibly (Kekalainen later denied it) in on him as a waiver claim, not as a trade.</div></div>

He out "pointed" Matthews yes, and Kane got the same contract as Toews because Kane was putting pucks in the net. Marner is a set up man. I fully believe playing with Tavares boosted his numbers. A full year of Matthews would have surpassed Marner in points according to the points projections.

It would be the 16th overall guy, not the 4th, so we are realistically looking at guys like Suzuki, Kaliyev, Tomasino, or Harley. Byram is top 5 talent.

Potential Leafs Roster
I think the Leafs will have to retain on Marleau and we would have to sweeten the pot to get that first pick from Colorado. Maybe add Bracco and a pick

I agree and have heard the same. Do you think if I take Johnsson out of the dead it would still be a fair one? to the teams that are interested of course

Once a team retains on a player they are on the hook for that amount until the contract ends. This was proposed by someone to Elliot Friedman on 31 Thoughts and he cleared it up.

Holl, Sparks, and Gauthier need to pass through waivers to be sent down, why lose them for nothing? I'm fine with keeping Borgman if he doesn't need waivers.

Marleau helps out the team - No trades
Unfortunately that's not the way it works. If Marleau "retires" then the Leafs are still hit with the full cap hit, but if he says he doesn't feel like he's fit enough to compete then I believe we can put him on reserve and save some cap.

Marners not making 10 million
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>Your right, he’s making $11. Marner creates plays better than Matthews. Marner is the catalyst of the PP. Marner plays the PK. Marner is much more sound defensively. Marner IS the better player.</div></div>
He creates plays, yes. Not better than Matthews. Runs the powerplay, yes. I'll give it to Marner over Matthews. Plays the PK, yes. Babs prefers wings to kill over the centers which drives me up a wall. Defensively Marner and Matthews are even. Matthews has the higher ceiling, Marner plays to his linemates skill much like Nylander. Matthews carries his line for the most part. I love Marner, he's a top talent in the league, he's top 3 on the Leafs, Under JT and Matthews. If he makes 10 Mill then damn he deserves it but he knows if that's what he gets then goodbye to Naz, AJ and maybe Willy.

Switch Strome for Howden then maybe I could see the Leafs going for the trade.
I don't think it would be Carolina giving up the second rounder, Fox is a top defensive prospect (Even though he said he's not signing in Carolina) and Gauthier is one of Charlottes best players. Carolina has made some weird trades this past year so nothing would surprise me now.

Toronto 2018/2019 fun times #DangleNavy
Looking at it I may have given up a bit much to Philli. Could do without one of the draft picks going back their way. I'm from Hamilton so I have seen quiet a bit of Riley Stillman, he was Hamiltons best defenceman in the playoffs and down the stretch in the regular season. He has one of the hardest and accurate shots in the league, especially for a defenceman. Strome has work to do on his skating and playing just down the road in Hamilton he can work with Barb Underhill on a regular basis, other then his skating he is a fantastic player. Kills penalties, net front presences on the Power Play, not one to shy away from playing a physical game. Morgan Frost I have only seen a handful of times when Soo came into Hamilton. In the playoffs in my eyes he was SSM best centerman, fast puck moving center that has a quick and accurate release. Works on the PP and the PK. The one thing I noticed with Frost that was a concern with me is he looked out of place from time to time and was unsure of what to do position wise when under pressure. Leivo to EDM felt like the right thing to do with Leivo, send him somewhere so he can actually play instead of having a reserved sign in the sky-box. Sending Sparks to Washington makes sense to me. Winning goaltender in the AHL go to the winning team in the NHL. Washington just have their backup to COL so it seems like a good fit. Another team I can see Sparks going to is Minnesota or even Montreal.
