Car - Van Canes join the arms race in the east
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>You’re joking right? Cause there are several things wrong with what you have said.
First, the Canes won’t make a move for Miller unless Miller’s AAV on his extension is between 4-5mil. KK also doesn’t have negative value, and has been one of the best 2-way players in the league since the turn of the new year. That’s a massive overpayment for an off injured winger who hasn’t been great this year and another overpaid winger who would sit on the 4th line.</div></div>
4.8M for another 7 years for a forward that will never crack the .5 points per game barrier is the very definition of negative value.

Skinner back home and in the playoffs
For the first time since he signed this deal he is almost worth what he is getting paid and you think Carolina would give up a 1st, a 2nd round prospect and a cheap 5-6 D man to get him? This looks to be an outlier season. Previous three seasons, 192 games and only 100 points. Even if he only had a 4M contract you would be hard pressed to get a first rounder for a 1/2 a point per game player. He is getting older and still has 4 more years at 9M.
Way too much of an ask for Skinner.

Van would jump at that deal if it was offered. Even if Krav become nothing....only having to give up Dakota to FINALLY get rid of Stillman would be worth it.

brock and nils
Hoglander and a 4th rounder seems high to only save 2.3M.
And this year Lawson has 31 points in 49 games. Brock has 35 points in only 45 games. So, slight edge to Brock.

lucic cap dump Schenn
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>We are not giving you a 2023 1st round pick (likely in the middle of the draft) for that! Make it a 2nd round pick with no retention on Looch and we probably do it maybe even add a little sweetener.
The only way that 1st moves is if it's part of a package for a player like Meier or Chychrun.</div></div>
When will flames fans realize it will take a huge sweetner to dump Looch. He has NEGATIVE CAP VALUE. If Trev wants to have 5M to spend at the deadline, it will cost at least a 3rd, probably a 2nd to unload Looch to someone.
It cost you a 1st rounder to get rid of Monny and he is still (barring injuries) an NHL player.

A 3rd, a 4th and 7th rounder does not equal a 2nd round pick. And a 2nd round pick is probably what Van will get. Or a 3rd and a B prospect.

Seeing it is Trevling still in charge....I would say it is a maybe from the flames side.
If the flames miss the playoffs, it is back to working for daddy for him.
Flames get a solid cheap stay at home D man and an extra 4+M to spend on another trade in a desperate move to make the playoffs.
I would just hope Trev is so desperate he makes the 1st rounder unprotected when they end up in the lottery.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Lol. A) we do not need to dump Lucic and B) it wont cost a 1st or anything at all for that matter to move him
We could simply retain 50% on him and trade him for an asset in return or just keep him. We’ve already paid $3.61mil of the $4mil in actual salary he’s owed this season, so he won’t cost us any assets at all, if he’s even moved</div></div>
Even at 50% retained....you are NOT getting an asset for Looch. Scowling does not get you points in the playoffs. You would have to give up at least a 3rd or a 4th to get rid of his cap. Does not matter what actual cash is left.....no one care about that. The only thing that matters at the trade deadline is the cap.

Van is desperate for cap space. That is the ONLY reason they have entertained offers on him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>As I said. Cool. Hang onto him. No one wants that contract.
Scheifele would be an example of an infinitely better player making less than Miller's $8.0 next year.</div></div>
Look at when Scheifle signed that deal. Before the start of the 2016-17. His three year prior, he was .67 points per game. Not even close to a point per game player. What do you think he will sign for on his next contract ....will be more than 8M that is FOR SURE.
So, your Scheifle arguement is flawed.
Like I said....VAN DOES NOT WANT to trade Miller. But they need the cap space because of OEL and Boeser.
Btw, Scheifle and Miller have the same point totals this year and I forget, when did Scheif get 99 POINTS? He has never had more than 85.
Also, Miller absolutely OWNS Scheif in the dot.

Find me a point per game player over the last 3-4 years that is making less than Miller. I will wait. His contract is not a hinderance. The ONLY reason Van would even entertain trading him is to get cap space to improve their poor defense.
