(BUF/NSH) - Asplund for 7th
What are you going to do? He wasn’t a fit in the Buffalo lineup, mainly because there are more desirable options available. GMKA did him a favour and put him in a spot where he could succeed, and open a spot for a prospect

Adding onto this point: if this contract was signed with the intention of him not playing out the full six years (ie going on LITR and becoming a trading asset), that sounds a lot like cap circumvention.

Just signed him this offseason and got a second for him. Seems like something you would do in a video game. Either way good move for both parties I suppose

New York Islanders signed Noah Dobson (3 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
Unless something really weird happens, this will be one of the better deals of the summer. He's easily worth more than $4 million now and at just 22 years old, they have lots of room to grow. They will still be an RFA at the end of this, so the Islanders will still have control over the next round of negotiations.

I like this take. Though I don't think Nazar falls past Winnipeg.
I agree with the Islanders pick, but apparently they are linked to Lambert and Gaucher. The pick also could be traded as well.

Tampa Bay Lightning signed Nicholas Paul (7 Years / $3,150,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Ooooofff that is a bad deal. You don't sign depth to term, ever.
Good for him though.</div></div>
I think the landscape is changing regarding these depth players. They are so crucial for a team that wants to contend. Coleman, Lowry, Laughton, Jarncrok, Goodrow, and now Paul are all guys that can play up and down the lineup and chip in on all situations. Even if in three or four years Paul becomes stapled to the fourth line, it's still a very reasonable cap hit. Tampa's window is now so sacrificing term for a lower AAV is necessary.

Keep olofsson, trade whatever part of the Fiala package for a right shot d, keep what's leftover. You're no worse off. I don't love Bryson, but he has value as a depth d. Kuemper is fine, I've seen mixed reviews on gudbransson. Frank nazar doesn't do much for me, hoping for lambert or lekkermaki at 9 or 10, wherever we end up.

Nah, I don't think Dumba is the guy. Looking for a stay at home right d (physical with size if it's on the menu), we already have dahlin and power to do the heavy lifting, just want a guy to help out in our end. No point paying a premium for a skill set we aren't looking for.

I would be fine with trading away Bryson, but only if you get something in return. Not just giving him away to a division rival for peanuts that will likely amount to nothing. I would be reluctant to trade Olofsson because I really like him, but if he won’t resign then work him into a deal for a player like Fiala instead of getting an average defenseman and a draft pick.
