Good stuff, I can see why it took later into the summer to hammer out first year 2-way, second year one-way. Honestly he just needs to prove he can stay healthy this year and I think he'll have no problem taking the 1B position next season.

Rochester's defense has been an absolute sieve for the past couple years and probably again this year, so it's no wonder his stats look wildly different from the AHL to NHL. He played very well with Buffalo last season and should get another 10-15 games this year, maybe more depending on Anderson.

Signs are that he could be their goalie of the future, so it’s great to get him signed for another two years at a cheap price, and then be able to hang onto him after that as a RFA (assuming he gets enough NHL games in by then) without arbitration rights.

2 years!! Heck ya great contract! I imagine he gets a call up stint this season and is our 1B next year. Still believe in him as a good starter

His AHL play seems not great but I'm surprised they got him to take two-way

What are you talking about?!?! He lost his spot to freakin Aaron Dell because of his poor play.

lmao kindly keep quiet when it's clear you don't know what you're talking about. UPL was injured in late April after he got checked into his own post and thus Dell played out the rest of the season+playoffs. Otherwise whenever the two were both in Rochester at the same time, Luukkonen had the majority of the starts.

Classic condescending MTL fan.

And then outperformed Dell along with Anderson and Tokarski at the NHL level, you know where it actually matters.

This would be a good deal, if he was just injury insurance. He has potential to become the backup by the second year and if that happens, then this will be a major steal.

I watched some of his craft in Cincinnati in his short stint in the ECHL. Pretty good, i'd say.

I'd certainly take Luukkonen over Korpisalo.

Finnish is actually pretty phonetic, but I expect most English-speaking people will just call him "UPL".
