I think there's a decent chance that Jarventie ends up the better player though. Pinto's value is in his projectability. He's not going to be close to PPG but think of a Danault-Backes hybrid. Jarventie has a legit Top-6 skillset and a deadly shot

Some of the usuals will **** on this package but it has a lot of value. Jarventie took a gigantic step since last season, he just turned 21 y/o, he's NHL ready and was one the Sens best players in training camp. Looked deadly with Batherson.

I wouldn't trade Pinto and Jarventie if it wasn't worth it but KJ is worth it. I wouldn't do it if I was Columbus though, never trade the best asset unless you're forced to</div></div>

Agreed with the opinion of the package. It's quite good and arguably has more overall value. I just don't think it makes sense for Columbus given the sheer amount of quality prospects they have. Guys like Dumais, Del Bel Belluz, Brindley all are in the system and have good outlooks. Obviously you don't expect every prospect to pan out, but they've got a ton of these very good, but not great prospects that I'm comfortable they'll be able to fill needs in the coming years. What they really need is the star power. Fantilli, Jiricek, Johnson working out and being high impact players. Pinto is a quality player 100%, but doesn't have the same ceiling as Johnson and is 2 years older so I don't think it makes sense for Columbus to downgrade that ceiling for more help where I think they're fine already.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>I understand and appreciate where your coming from. I guess it comes down to how long of a window CLB has, given Gaudreau, Jenner, Kuraly, Severson, Gudbranson and Merzlikins are all getting up there in age themselves and a move like this could make CLB an instant playoff team and soon to be contender

Laine, Texier &amp; KJ aren’t really Centres. Jenner’s good, but not on the Lindholm’s level and Fantilli and Sillinger need time to develop… so you can certainly throw them in to play that position, but none of them are really 1st line players and other than maybe Jenner, none of them are Top-6 qualified (yet anyways)</div></div>

The problem is that there isn't a window right now. Even next year would be a bit optimistic. Lindholm doesn't get them over that hump cause they just simply aren't close enough as things are.

The thing I don't understand though is in a previous comment saying Fantilli makes Sillinger expendable, yet they're trading all this for center help. Jury is out on Sillinger, but he's looking better so far at the least. Between he, KJ, and Boone I think you have your middle 6 centers and 2nd/3rd line LW (depending if KJ is gonna play C or now). Fantilli may not be ready to be a 1C yet, but they don't need him to be. They need that in 2 years so it really doesn't matter they dont have that rn if he develops.

I don't mind targeting Lindholm to play on the top line till Fantilli is ready and 2nd line after, but the issue is there's no reason to do it at the deadline when they can wait 5 months and target him in FA. Yeah, maybe it gives you a better chance, but that chance isn't worth losing Johnson, Sillinger, and Ceulemans.

The way I see it, this team's window opens in 25-26 at the earliest, but most likely a year after that. If you want to argue that Jarmo could make a shorter term move to maintain his job, I think that's reasonable, but that would be the only logical reason for CBJ to make a trade of this nature.

Obviously fans can't know the situation, but given the way Jarmo's talked about the rebuild the past few years and then general hands off nature of CBJ ownership, I'd think it's likely that he's got a good amount of security to see this out till a lot of the recent top prospects are established in the league. You never know though.
