Which big 3 would you rather
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Kinda hard to compare goalies vs dmen vs forwards….and to ignore contracts.
But I think
1. COL
2. EDM
3. TOR
4. BOS
5. TBL
6. VAN
7. DAL
Would be more compelling question if it were same positions (ie, 2F, 1d) and similar cap (ie, at ~$20 million).</div></div>
Echoing the same thing with the difficulty comparing the bottom 2 groups with goalies especially
COL

EDM
TB
BOS

TOR
DAL
VAN
(Bottom 3 are so tough, basically a tie for me, but having to order them this is what I'd do)

Blow it all up
I'm not even sure that package gets to the halfway point of what we'd need to get Tkachuck tbh
I'd say the Drasaitl deal is probably roughly equal in value, but Edmonton doesn't need another overpaid D man, nor to give up Drai to offload Campbell, and Columbus doing that without an extension would be idiotic.
Like all the contracts (save for Johnson, who I'd want more term from if they commit 6 mil a year to him at this point) though.

Is this fair
Not even remotely close.
Kuzmenko scored 39 on an unsustainably high shooting percentage in his age 26 "rookie" year and is a UFA after next season.
KJ is a recent top 5 pick that had an impressive real rookie year and looks good again now that he's actually getting (some) ice time with other good players.

Categorizing Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeneralLandro</b></div><div>Sure man, we’ll take Laine and Peeke off your hands ;)</div></div>
I'd be happy for someone to take Peeke for free at this point just to get his money off the books and force Vincent to actually play Jiricek. So many people wanting him for some reason this offseason made me excited they might actually get something of value for a negative asset imo, but that time's passed for sure.
If they moved Laine, he's almost certainly going to have higher outputs than he would in Columbus, but the fit just doesn't work. I'd rather sell him off at a loss and recoup some decent value than continue to force what's not working here and have it be a less than ideal outcome for both him and the team. Don't see him ever hitting that ceiling people thought he had at this point, but he could totally have a bit of a resurgence and be a regular 35-40 goal scorer in the right environment. Just don't think the fit is working here for either party.

He was definitely better lately before getting hurt, but he's just been incredibly frustrating to watch this season. So many unforced errors and feels like he can't control the puck at times. Definitely not in that same range as Gudbranson literally, but it's been disappointing relative to expectations.

I know this is post this season, but I just don't see how you get Columbus to retain nearly 2 mil when they''ve got a lot of guys due for raises this offseason and next. I'm so down to trade Laine, but I don't see this team retaining money on really anyone given the RFAs they have soon.

Big Raises Next Year
I pray for whatever team pays Hronek. He's a good player who's been on the upswing, but that kinda feels like an impending Nurse type contract that a team will almost immediately regret.
Really interested if Jarvis takes a bridge or they go long term too. I think he's insane and would want to lock him up as long as possible. The way things are going so far this year, seems like he could have the production to entice the team to dish out that bigger money deal.

Can't see CBJ being interested in Garland without retention. Yeah, he'd improve the lineup, but not having that cap committed in 24-25 and 25-26 is more valuable than the marginal lineup improvement.

I think the minimum to dump Campbell is AT LEAST double that. 4 years left at 5 mil. Literally any team in the league, even San Jose could be good 3 years from now. That's gonna cost a ton to offload.

Still got the tweet stuck in my head from either Otter or Knight playing them in '21 where guys making their first career starts against CBJ had like a 10-1 recoed, .925 and 1.9 GAA or something crazy like that. Maybe they got lucky that Tomkins is making start no 2.

Johnson - Norris - Batherson
Joseph - Greig - Tarasenko
I think there's a decent chance that Jarventie ends up the better player though. Pinto's value is in his projectability. He's not going to be close to PPG but think of a Danault-Backes hybrid. Jarventie has a legit Top-6 skillset and a deadly shot
Some of the usuals will **** on this package but it has a lot of value. Jarventie took a gigantic step since last season, he just turned 21 y/o, he's NHL ready and was one the Sens best players in training camp. Looked deadly with Batherson.
I wouldn't trade Pinto and Jarventie if it wasn't worth it but KJ is worth it. I wouldn't do it if I was Columbus though, never trade the best asset unless you're forced to</div></div>
Agreed with the opinion of the package. It's quite good and arguably has more overall value. I just don't think it makes sense for Columbus given the sheer amount of quality prospects they have. Guys like Dumais, Del Bel Belluz, Brindley all are in the system and have good outlooks. Obviously you don't expect every prospect to pan out, but they've got a ton of these very good, but not great prospects that I'm comfortable they'll be able to fill needs in the coming years. What they really need is the star power. Fantilli, Jiricek, Johnson working out and being high impact players. Pinto is a quality player 100%, but doesn't have the same ceiling as Johnson and is 2 years older so I don't think it makes sense for Columbus to downgrade that ceiling for more help where I think they're fine already.

Maybe things change as time goes on since Bean has looked quite good to start the season, but a month ago I could virtually guarantee you that Bean would be the cheapest of the 3 to trade for. I like the idea to go after him rather than Peeke or Boqvist.

Rebuilding the Flames by Trading Lindholm Hanifin and Tanev
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>I understand and appreciate where your coming from. I guess it comes down to how long of a window CLB has, given Gaudreau, Jenner, Kuraly, Severson, Gudbranson and Merzlikins are all getting up there in age themselves and a move like this could make CLB an instant playoff team and soon to be contender
Laine, Texier & KJ aren’t really Centres. Jenner’s good, but not on the Lindholm’s level and Fantilli and Sillinger need time to develop… so you can certainly throw them in to play that position, but none of them are really 1st line players and other than maybe Jenner, none of them are Top-6 qualified (yet anyways)</div></div>
The problem is that there isn't a window right now. Even next year would be a bit optimistic. Lindholm doesn't get them over that hump cause they just simply aren't close enough as things are.
The thing I don't understand though is in a previous comment saying Fantilli makes Sillinger expendable, yet they're trading all this for center help. Jury is out on Sillinger, but he's looking better so far at the least. Between he, KJ, and Boone I think you have your middle 6 centers and 2nd/3rd line LW (depending if KJ is gonna play C or now). Fantilli may not be ready to be a 1C yet, but they don't need him to be. They need that in 2 years so it really doesn't matter they dont have that rn if he develops.
I don't mind targeting Lindholm to play on the top line till Fantilli is ready and 2nd line after, but the issue is there's no reason to do it at the deadline when they can wait 5 months and target him in FA. Yeah, maybe it gives you a better chance, but that chance isn't worth losing Johnson, Sillinger, and Ceulemans.
The way I see it, this team's window opens in 25-26 at the earliest, but most likely a year after that. If you want to argue that Jarmo could make a shorter term move to maintain his job, I think that's reasonable, but that would be the only logical reason for CBJ to make a trade of this nature.
Obviously fans can't know the situation, but given the way Jarmo's talked about the rebuild the past few years and then general hands off nature of CBJ ownership, I'd think it's likely that he's got a good amount of security to see this out till a lot of the recent top prospects are established in the league. You never know though.

Me as GM and Coach
CBJ aren't gonna be willing to commit nearly 1.4 mil in dead cap for the next 3 years when they've got tons of RFAs due for raises and are already relatively close to the cap. Maybe you could get a 3rd team to broker retention, but I don't think it's likely you convince a 3rd unassociated team to commit those 3 years of retention either.
That being said, purely value wise, it's more than likely an overpay for Toronto to give a 1st and Jarnkrok for that. Don't think it makes sense for either team. Toronto should be able to get a better player on the blue line if the cost is a 1st + Jarnkrok.

Guessing this is just to make cap space for Pinto to sign?
CBJ aren't really in need of forwards, but I wouldn't mind this at all since the cost is do cheap and he's up after the season. 5th round for a decent upgrade somewhere in the bottom 6 is a nice deal for CBJ.

Has a bit of speed, plays with a lot of effort. Everything else is probably short of NHL level tbh. Hasn't really improved offensively at all in the NHL.
Probably one of those dime a dozen guys who can be plugged into the 4th line and just kinda be there and give you 8-10 hard fought minutes a night. Costs nothing though, so worth a claim if y'all have a roster spot.
