I don’t think the Bruins want to do that trade. Makes them very weak down the middle for years to come. Not a good place to be although the value of future 1st round picks will go up.

Kessel is looking to fetch a 3rd or 4th round with half salary retained. Apparently no GM has but on a 3rd with half salary retained.
1sr, 2nd, DeBrusk, Studs, and Reilly is more than fair I believe. It does feel like swapping Reilly with Grzelyk and keeping Studs is probably a better Bruins move though.

I full agree with trying Reilly instead. Forbort is a Bruin and doing his job nicely. He's a perfect 3rd pair PK, beat up on someone if stupid stuff happens. Not happy about giving up Lysell either. To keep Lysell out of the mix, Reilly becomes Grze, you add Senyshyn (perfect for ARZ, and would likely thrive) and they add Crouse.

What for Chycyrun and Crouse
You include Grzelyk. He’s no longer need with Chychrun on the Bs. You add in Senyshyn as wel.
That sweetens the pot quite significantly and you don’t give them Lysell or Lohrei. Seny 2 Hattie’s in November, is about ready to produce and has stayed healthy.
I’d sweeten with an extra pick (2nd/3rd) from 2023 and try to keep the known entities we have. As others have mentioned, the cupboards are bare.
Gives both teams replacement options. Bs are further along but Arzs have potentially great upside. Grze has played 1LD. DeBrusk has scored 27G before in the NHL.. Senyshyn (if you do some research) was a PPG at the NHL until he got injured a few years back now.
ARZ is building and one of DeBrusk or Senyshyn will go off, and you have an NHL D replacement and some picks to go with the 100 they have next season.

DeBrusk for Crouse plus Rask
Depends on if ARZ thinks they would pay deBrusk or Crouse more money. While it might seem relatively fair on the surface, i think the Bs need to sweeten that deal for ARZ to do it.
Chychrun would be part of the package if I’m the Bs and then they could work something out.

The Sell-off
I admit, I hit the bowl pretty hard and was not in a good state after losing to FN DETROIT!!!
However....
Car is a perfect trade though. They almost guarantee a cup with that move which is the goal. right?
EDM is under paying for Grze, so I take that one back. You are crazy if you don't think Grze becomes a Krug" on that team. EDM would sign that tomorrow. They should be giving up Bouchard (but they need D so not happening) or Yamamoto for him.
They Bruins deflated all their young guys by blocking all the roster spots for 2-3yrs. Bergy not committing and Krejci not re-signing leaves the players that were brought in (and players who took discounts) thinking, "What the hell did I just do". outside of Marchy, McAvoy, Coyle, Foligno, Pasta (lately), Bergy (lately), and probably Nosek, the rest of the team is playing without any heart. 6/19 players actually playing to win a game is not going to get you anywhere.
They need to fire Sweeney or Cassidy. I look back to when Cassidy came on board and he was great for the young guys. They succeeded. Then somehow, he turned into Julien and all the kids are pissed off and digressing. DeBrusk, Studs, Swayman, Senyshyn, Bjork, Heinen, Carlo, the list goes on... all regressed.
Studs, for example, comes in every off-season with growth, and regresses in 4-5 games.
Swayman not being played in the playoffs when Rask had a torn Labrum... deflating and look at him this year?
Carlo would have earned a ransom in his first 2yrs.. now lucky to get a 4th rd pick for him.
Look at Senyshyn in Prov this year with a new coach. Started out bad, but Nov has 2 hat tricks, moved up in the roster, on the PP, and next call-up if ever a spot opens up. That's not a coincidence. New coach who hasn't been assimilated by the Borg.... YET!!!!
It's old-school coaching and leadership that doesn't deal well with the kids of today. The kids (Pasta and McAvoy) are successful in-spite of the leadership with the Bruins. I get they need to learn to overcome adversity (if they are going to win in the playoffs), but they also need to play to win, not play to not lose.
Are all these players as bad as you say they are? Absolutely NOT!!! Their ceiling is closer to their best years and arm-chair-gm bashers, don't consider this at all. Right team, right system, these "hack Bruins players" become assets with proven NHL-level ability. You can't say that for any prospect in the system.

This is probably exactly the deal that gets done. Two players who need a change of scenery. Every trade gets trashed by trolls in this site.

Only other option is DeBrusk for a pick and maybe a mid-tier prospect.

Pretty much the first time I agree with CmcAvoy71. We don’t need an RD.
I don’t see the logic in bringing back Rask. If Ullmark and Swayman suck, we won’t be in a playoff position so what’s the point? If they play like they should, it won’t be goaltending we need to upgrade.

Going Younger Next Season
Horrible trade for Dunn. Way too much of an overpay.
As much as I hate to say it, with that lineup, Bergy isn’t re-signing with the Bruins. He wants another cup. I hope I’m wrong and he retires a Bruin, but not looking great.
We need a legit 2C who can become a 1C if he’s going to stick around.
I would take the trade you sent for Dunn and spend it on the 2C.
I also think Lazar walks at the end of the season. Too much of a log jam for 4th line duties.
Based on Seny being disinterested last night, I am expecting the Bs to walk away from him too. Horrible development of a once very good player. He is only 24 and with no chance of making the big club so his performance should get better in Providence. Someone please coach him to keep his head on a swivel!!! Stop puck watching in the D zone.
Happy to see Lauko in the lineup. He was my fav player so far in the pre-season. Big, fast, skilled, fav player is Marchy. I hope he sees time on the big club this year pending the trade for a 2C.

Good write up BTW.
My fav player so far has been Lauko. He should have a spot over Trent based on his play in game 1. Been a fan for a while and Trent looked like he’s still on his blah trend line.
Bruins are in a pickle. If DeBrusk returns to form, a Lauko is 3yrs away from cracking the lineup full-time. He has Bruin written all over him, but might fizzle out like the other good players that entered the system.
They could trade DeBrusk for a legit 2C, and that still doesn’t help Lauko make the team.
Does anyone else feel like Sweeney picked up 1 too many UFAs?

I don’t think there is any way Studs makes the lineup. He’ll start the year on Providence.
Trent plays the 4LW and Foligno the 3RW.
This means we lose Kuhlman and Blidh to waivers potentially. AND, you’re one player over the max roster size so not sure who else is getting sent across the waiver wire on top of that.
Is Studs still exempt?

To be fair ( to be faaaaaiiir), you added in the last part.
RNH is good but there is little doubt in my mind the DeBrusk performs as good or better in the same position. Even with Leon he’s likely back to “himself”.
It would be odd to trade him, and he does have an NMC, so would have to approve, but honestly, I’ve called many contracts and trades and I’ve almost never had anyone in Capfriendly say that’s good.
It’s always “that’s not enough for that player”, and they sign for the exact term and AAV. That isn’t enough for that player, and then trades come in that are the same or worse.
Anyway. DeBrusk and Grzelyk will be traded before the season starts, and they will get a 1LD and a current 3C who has upside to be a 2C.

Cherry picking a best season for debrusk and ignoring his past couple of seasons isn’t a good way to look at player valuation. Tampa is seriously downgrading in this trade and if they needed quick cap relief then maybe you could convince me that they’d try to move one of these players. But in reality they don’t need to do much and if they wanted to move somebody they would just move McD. If Serg or Cirelli were actually available, 20 teams would likely send better offers than this one.</div></div>
I see your points. I guess the Bruins are stuck with the team they have for the time being and see how it goes for TBL.
P.a. Better deals mean players with more salary which TBL can’t afford.
Anyway. Did a TBL test and they have $1.7M but need to sign Colton and at least one other player. They will be at cap and be fine.
No three-peat for them though.

And they don’t really need to do it. This trade is just so ridiculously bad for tampa. Kinda worth deleting, and i never say that.</div></div>
I guess you aren’t part of the Boston crew that thinks Grze is untradable because he was on pace to achieve Krug-like numbers and DeBrusk will return to Form once he gets back home and learns to stay off Twitter.
The Bruins should have placed an offer sheet on one or both of those guys before the last season.
Would have been much easier than trying to trade to fill in the missing pieces.
Would you consider Grze and DeBrusk for just Sergachev instead?

Thought TBL was at cap, with 16 players signed. They need to add 7 to their roster. They might get close and get a 2LW and a 2LD plus some potential upside drafts.
I did actually forget about losing the 2C making Cirelli more valuable to Tampa with nothing going back to help out.

TBL has to make some moves. This deal saves them $2M+, gives them a low cost prospect, and a bunch of picks. It’s has some Risk in Debrusk, but that’s why the picks. If you look at past performance ceilings, it’s statistically in TBL’s favor.
Maybe TBL has figured out how to use the LTIR/IR hack but this honestly isn’t a horrible trade.
TBL has a 1LD. Grze has similar stats to Sergachev and DeBrusk has a 27G ceiling. Try playing in Boston, reminded of how bad the 2015 draft is, isolated from family for a year+ as a 24yr old.
He goes off in TBL, Grze continues to perform, they get Senyshyn who is also a victim of the 2015 draft but plays well when he gets his shots.
It’s really not that far off a deal.

Probably a little higher than that when the time comes, but he has his money and brand. He is a hockey guy who will want to play for his childhood team. He already took less in EDM and that’s a $97M contract. Money will not be a driving factor for him, like it is an Ovi type of player.

Not a huge regression until last year. His ceiling, playing with a Bum-hip David Krejci, at the time was 27 goals. How many times did RNH do that?
Put DeBrusk, McDavid, and Senyshyn and they will produce eq or better than RNH + Pullijiarvi.
Wagner is a character guy to bring around the team. He knows what it takes to make the cup finals. Something EDM can use. They are following Toronto for unexpected exits in the playoffs.
If you take a small sample size, then Senyshyn (if you watched the games) was a PPG player 2yrs ago, on the 3rd line, if it wasn’t for someone being a mm offside and a goal overturned (national broadcast was baffled… not just Bs fans).
Last year he was playing well until DeBrusk and Ritchie destroyed all chances of success on any line they played on. Yes debrusk was not good, but he’s a kid, isolated from his family for a really long time, with only Twitter to keep him company. How many times can you read 2015 bust draft with him and Senyshyn in the limelight.
If EDM doesn’t jump on that deal, I think they are missing out quite a bit.
The more I talk it out, the less chance Boston makes that trade right now.
Maybe find another cash strapped team that has to make moves to get under the cap ( EDM and TBL) get a better return.
