Scheif trade
Take out Haula and DeMelo, bump the BOS 2nd to a 1st
Trade DeMelo separately to TOR for their ‘24 2nd
Haula can stay in BOS… we don’t need him.
Trade Heinola to NYR for Lundkvist
Schmidt to DET for a 3rd opens up a spot for Carlo, giving us a D of,
Morrissey - Carlo
Samberg - Pionk
Dillon - Lundkvist

Yes there is. Jets need to free up a D spot anyways and Boston needs a Carlo replacement. Even in this scenario it’s likely jets trade Schmidt anyways.

Bringing Jarvis Home Trading Schiefele Also Read The Description
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YourWinnipegJets</b></div><div>I’ve always kinda circled back to the philly outline cuz I think it’s the most realistic value wise and also provorov has also made note that he would prefer a change in scenery. I think in a Scheif trade u would ideally want an upgrade on d but when u also trade him ur losing a forward so u would likely want a forward back (preferably a centre but that doesn’t work in this deal). I would go for a deal that would involve Scheif going to Philky for Provorov and Konecny. The Jets would probably need to add some pieces to even it out, maybe Heinola or a a second round pick or something. But tha all I have. Let’s also not kid ourselves that there are going to be some playoffs teams that lose in the first or second round that are going to be disappointed and might be interested in a Scheif piece to push them over the edge. As Elliott Friedman said, “the market is gonna be huge.”</div></div>
I get the idea of trading him to Philly and even though I like Konecny and Proverov, I still don’t think it’s an ideal trade I would make. I wish the locker room issue weren’t real and just a rumour but with Schiefele’s comments it for sure sounds like something is rotten in that locker room rather it be Wheeler, Schiefele or both. One thing that is for sure is that if the Jets want to stay competitive they need keep Dubois and sign him long term or that trade (for Laine and Roslovic) will end up looking like a disaster.

Adding Scheifele
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YourWinnipegJets</b></div><div>There is a deal to be had between provorov and Scheif and some other pieces but I doubt that would include Pionk, the Jets have no interest in trading him. I think I could live with Schmidt and perhaps a B prospect or extra pick, than Pionk. I just think both Provy and Scheifele need a change, no doubt about it. And it's not like the Jets are low on top 6 guys, (Wheeler, Connor, Dubois, Ehlers, Stasny), and also Perfetti coming up soon too. Adding TK i don't think there would be a huge drop off, and TK may be better suited as a setup man, you have plenty of goal scorers in that group.

Jets off-season possibility 12
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YourWinnipegJets</b></div><div>I disagree with that take. First off, the centre position is so complex and different from the wing. Scheif has proved that in terms of the defensive side of the game, things can get overwhelming for him or he just doesn’t care. If he’s on the wing, not to say that he wouldnt have to play defense (because he would) but there is less responsibility. Stastny taking over centre could possibly fix some of these problems. I also don’t think it’s fair to say it changes nothing without giving it an actual shot to see how things go.
In terms of Harkins, I get it if u didn’t read my explanation because it is really long but I think Harkins is better suited on that line then Svech. Harkins provides lots more speed and puck retrieval than Svech. For Svech, the skill has always been there but the skating has always held him back.</div></div>
Svech has familiarity with Dubois as they were teammates in the Q. Harkins is faster, but he doesn't have that chemistry with PLD and KFC. He's better suited for the bottom six.
I'm not really against Schief on the wing, I'm against him being on the team. He pouted for the entire season and made no effort defensively.

Jets off-season possibility 12
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YourWinnipegJets</b></div><div>I think putting Perfetti on the third line with Wheeler and Lowry provides scoring touch through all three lines. Harkins on the first line and Perfetti with wheels and Lowry spreads scoring all throughout the lineup with similar structure of the habs last year. This year one of our problems has been bottom six scoring and the third line lacking an identity. I think this could possibly solve that issue. Now we have three scoring lines.</div></div>
I agree with this for Perfetti. It also gives him time to hone his game. He'll be a top liner eventually, but we have guys in the meantime that can hold the line until he's truly ready.

I would accept from NJ perspective, mainly because WPG could be terrible next year and that pick could be great for us. Also think Severson is going to ask for way too much money on an extension.

All signs have pointed to NJD resigning Severson to an extension this summer (current deal expires after next season).
It sounds like both club and player are on board.
And agree that Severson and Morrissey would be good together.
(Maybe Jets should send Morrissey to New Jersey? :grimace)

If the Jets Standpat for one more year
I really don't think the Jets should/will be giving away Stanley and Harkins. I don't think they have the forward "depth" everyone talks about them having. In previous years Copp - Lowry - Appleton/Tanev provided a physical shutdown third line that was one of the best in the league. This year that third line has kind of dissipated. I agree Wheeler hasn't been great and probably deserves to be on the third line but in order to get the most out of his remaining salary I bet he continues in the top 6 and hope he regains some mojo he had a couple seasons ago.
And yes I could see them resigned statsny and he probably isn't the worst option to be on your second line but can you honestly say he would be a top six winger on a cup contending team? I think of Mini, St. Louis, Colorado, Vegas, Edmonton, Calgary all the powerhouse teams in the West Statsney wouldn't be in their top 6. Finally implementing Cole Perfetti in the top six makes sense but he's still unproven and needs to develop.
I don't think the back end has been great all year but I also think a lot of their problems have come from the forward depth running out

Schneider is a good start, but the first needs to be in 23 and Strome will be a UFA so doesn't add any value and Kravtsov is worthless.
So this is an easy no for Winnipeg as it stands now, but Schneider is a good start.

Jets need changes but they wont do it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Chevy has been absolutely terrible at managing his B/C grade assets.
His old colleague Bergevin was great at it in Montreal, he made some questionable trades there but his smaller trades were good even if they were minor deals.
I could make a long list of the small trades involving mid to late round picks that Chevy should've made (Stephenson) and a lengthy list of the mid to late picks thrown away on depth they didn't need when they were going nowhere anyway(Benn).
Idk what kind of value these guys have but some do look promising, will be a shame if they're lost to waivers. I really want to see Gawanke and Berdin get in some regular season games before the season ends, both have earned it.
Alone I doubt they're worth much but could one of Gawanke or Kovacevic been traded with a 2nd for Dillon instead of two 2nds? I mean if one or both are possibly going to be lost would it not have made sense to move one than if Washington would've done it? I find it hard to believe Chevy was planning on having both Gawanke and Kovacevic in the Jets lineup in 22-23, sending one out would probably of been good asset management.
They hang onto some of these prospects till they're pretty much worthless while they have obvious needs, could some of these prospects not be turned into a player that can help now, they also seem loathe to give certain guys a legit chance so why hang onto them forever, again don't think alone they'd be worth much alone but perhaps combined with a pick they might be able to get a player they could use.
And then there's Vesalainen, yes he was given many opportunities this season and did very little but was he not a guy who should've been sent back to the Moose WAY before he finally was, letting him whither wasn't a good development plan imo.
Will be an interesting to see if Chevy does anything to manage these assets you have listed here.</div></div>
Its interesting to see what an outsider who assesses NHL prospects for a living thinks and this interview with Scott Wheeler (The Athletic) last week was interesting: <div class="yt_out_cont"><div class="yt_cont"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/In8pWN7tLqI" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></div>
He says Perfetti, Lucius, Heinola, Chibrikov, Gustafsson, Rashevsky and Samberg are the top prospects and then there is a big drop off after that. Says that Kovacevic, Chisholm, Gawanke will just be organizational depth. Also he is not high at all on Vesalainen. He goes into some detail on the top guys, his disappointment with Vesalainen and speaks about a bunch of others briefly. For me that interview points out how Jets fans (including myself) are overvaluing the depth prospects and shouldn't be pencilling in Kovacevic or Gawanke higher than a 6/7 D-man.
I agree that it would be good to see some of the prospects up with the Jets for a spell to see what they can offer and at the very least a bit of a showcase in the event they can be included in an offseason deal.

I really like your take on this. Not sure if some of the trades would be accepted but solely looking at the Jets lineup, I really like it, especially the Crouse acquisition - finally someone realizes how much players like that are essential for the team to become a legitimate contender. Stanley, Schmidt and Dillon out is what we need.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Next season, Arizona is going to have trouble putting 16 guys on the ice who have significant quality NHL experience. Here, you want them to trade away two of their starters for Ville Heinola, a 21-year-old who may not stick in the NHL next season even on the Coyotes. Moreover, I don't see Heinola and three high draft picks as "loads of value" since they are apparently asking for a top-6 forward and top-4 defenseman plus a first-round draft pick for Chychrun, whom they have no motivation to trade in the first place.</div></div>
If you think Heinola wouldn't make the Yotes team next season you probably never seen him play. Let's ignore his age and size, solely focus on his play. Kid is gooddamn good. He is not going to be a top def guy, but that 1PP for sure

Schmidt can at least get a third.
Chychrun isn't needed and even on a great deal, he harms the cap room. Heinola and Samberg are on ELC's which helps.
Svechnikov will score 50 points if he's permanently put on the KFC-PLD line; where he belongs.

For sure. I’d be all for it if we have a proper head coach next year. I was just poking fun at Dallas’ inability to use players with talent. If they aren’t immediately crazy good they get bottom six time with the defensive pylons and the coaches can’t figure out why the offensive production isn’t there. JRob only got legit top six time because of injuries. And then boom. It’s almost like offensive players do better with other offensive players 🤔🤔

You'll need to give up A LOT more for Chychrun, if that was the price, he would've been moved during the season
I assume that the Jets would need to pay someone to take Schmidt's contract at this point (not that you got major value for him)
You could probably get some value for Wheeler moving him to the right team (Dallas maybe? Boston?)

Morrissey-Demelo

Heinola-Schmidt
