Dream Roster
The 1st line - the 3D line - will score and score a lot, especially if JD stays uninjured and keep his head in the game. The Danault line will be a great shutdown line. The Kotkaniemi line will also be a threat and may end up being the 2nd line. And Ryan "Leaf Killer" Poehling's line will be a great fourth line for energy, killing penalties and will score. Thompson is kept to replace Poehling if he slows down, Weal for Suzuki (same reasoning). I think the blue line speaks for itself. I also think with SG and EK the Habs PP will be a lot more dangerous.

Or we could wait and see if he'll sign here next year as a UFA and not ship out a boatload of pieces?

This is why I doubt the accuracy of the report. Yes, she's from the area. Yes, Hoffman and his fiancé are gone. But who's still there? Melynk.

ANOTHER ONE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rangersandislesfan</b></div><div>Why is everyone suddenly suggesting EK to MTL?</div></div>
News report from an Ottawa area paper says that apparently EK is hoping the Habs and Sens make an offer to him b/c his wife is homesick and he wants to be able to get back to that area (Ottawa). Montreal is also fairly close.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RobbStark03</b></div><div>Montreal was likely thrown in there as a negotiating tactic to drive up price from Sens... But its fun to pretend like there is a real chance.</div></div>
Honestly, I'd prefer to add any number of other guys first - Duchene, Nyquist, Eberle, Panarin, Skinner (in no particular order). But if he comes knocking how do you not at least look?
And Petry would get a good return in trade so if you save salary there. . . .
No, the biggest knock on this comes with what happens 2 seasons out when all the RFAs are looking for a raise and you need to resign some UFAs too and suddenly there is no cap room and Karlsson's knees look like they're made of modeling clay.

Dont waste Price
Pretty sure everyone says no to these trades.
Excluding the Sens last year - when they went for quantity over quality - in order to get quality, you have to give quality. The only time a trade becomes a real upset is when one side misreads the quality of the players involved (Domi, Galchenyuk).
For example, the Ducks can do better for Cam Fowler than a guy who can't crack an NHL roster (Peca) a nice but untested rookie (Brook) and a very low value pick (5th). For a guy like Cam Fowler, they could expect a very good prospect and much higher picks - I think it's going to be a seller's market for RHD once Karlsson signs.
And Drai is going to go for a lot more than a guy who can't crack a roster, a guy who can't score, a guy who's played one game, a guy coming off a major injury with a question mark still by his name and a 1st round pick. Expect multiple picks, a good roster player and some primo prospects, if the Oil are crazy enough to move him.

Not so much fell for it but I don’t closely follow the jets and I wondered what I was missing (if anything).

I don’t believe the hot dogs are all that good in Edmonton. Kessel doesn’t waive and the Pens wouldn’t take that return anyway.

Seriously that's a terrible, terrible deal for the Jets, Chevy should get canned immediately if he makes that trade.</div></div>
I think if something like this were to happen, it would be Ehlers for Juulsen plus picks/something of value. Not a cap dump like (sadly) Dale Weise has become. Like I said, didn't see the sense of it.

Habs
If the Habs don't trust Lingren to be the backup goalie, there are lots available in the UFA market. Why would they give so much for a backup? And why would Florida, who is loading up on cap space to go big game hunting, load up on 3rd liners/pairing guys that'll just eat up said cap space and roster spots?

Depends on what you need. The Habs have an abundance of RHD prospects knocking on the NHL’s door.

I really do feel like there is a trade to be made between Vegas and the Habs based on the Habs taking Clarkson’s contract. Got any LHD to spare? Say in return for a middle 6F?

Taking a run at Kessel
I will say this: that second line is very much a gamble. Unless Drouin learns to play defence such that he and Domi can pick up Kessel's slack, that line will get busted up sooner or later. But if Drouin can play defence, that line has the potential to score a lot of goals.

Modest proposals - PHI CBJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>What the heck is with all of these Habs threads getting you Ratcliffe? He's got 91 goals in the past two years in Guelph. There's really no reason for the Flyers to move him unless it's upgrading somewhere. Yeah, Tatar upgrades the offense a bit, but losing Ghost means they've lost a pretty significant Dman who's on a pretty great contract.
4 more years of Ghost @$4.5/year >>>>>>>>>> 2 Seasons of Tatar @$5.3. You'd be giving up Tartar+Fleury+something just to get Ghost, let alone also getting a top prospect to go along with him.</div></div>
I got the impression from the other posts that Ratcliffe was movable and the Flyers needed to make room for prospects coming up so Ghost was moveable? I've seen other posts that suggested Drouin but Tatar seems like a better fit.

I think his performance in the playoffs makes him a strong UFA - I think he'll want more of a raise - but it's more likely we'll land him than Edler, or Karlsson, or Panarin or the usual suspects.
