(PHI / TBL) - Filppula, 2017 4th round pick, 2017 conditional 7th round pick for Streit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NobodyCares</b></div><div>Why would Philly go for Filppula? Doesn't make sense to me. He's not better than Streit and they were in the playoff race. Philly's management is just terrible. They make the worst trades and sign players to long extensions then trade them to another team. Either you want the player and you sign him and keep him or you deal him near the end of his deal for what you can get. Signing a player to a very long extension and then trading them for whatever you can get just looks so foolish. They aren't going to be relevant for a long time if they keep pulling amateur moves like that.</div></div>

Based on points, this isn't too bad (although his totals last year are a bit concerning).
Based on analytics, this is a sizeable overpay, his defensive metrics are not good and he's not exactly a strong play driver either. Granted, analytics isn't fantastic at compensating for talented shooters iirc but there's definitely some concern to be had here.
Having said that, I still miss him a bit :(

3 no votes already?
I get people probably aren't thrilled that it's a 1 way, but the guy is (IMO) good enough to play 4th line or at least fill in as an extra. There's nothing wrong with this deal (especially because 2 years increases the potential reward if he happened to break out).

And they need players anyways so much better this than overpaying for someone in free agency to reach the cap floor.

This looks like fantastic value considering what Campbell signed for. He's a top 10 goalie and making the 13 most at his position, below Elvis, Grubauer, Binnington, and Murray, and above Lehner, Ullmark, Peterson, Campbell.
Arguably he's the best in that whole group and by a decent margin.

Detroit Red Wings signed Andrew Copp (5 Years / $5,625,000 AAV)
I'm kind of surprised at all the yes votes here. Copp is a good player, don't get me wrong, but I see him as much more of a high end 3C than a bona fide 2C: something in the 4x4 range would have been my top offer. Considering the way the voting went when he was traded to New York, CapFriendly people seem to have flipped on him in the last couple months— no coincidence there, he played very well with the Rangers. I just think people have gone a bit too far the other way here.
However, Yzerman doesn't tend to make many mistakes, so we'll see.
