Leddy is a #1 LHD, Beauvillier is only 21 and can play in the top-6 with this team...he was caught in a numbers game in Long Island, same with Ho-Sang needed a change of scenery and he's still young enough that he can turn his career around.
Yes, the draft picks are better with Philly but Farabee and Hogberg aren't sure things and Konecny (while playing at a high level with Giroux and Courturier) is still just a top-9 forward in my eyes.

Cozens, Byram, or Turcotte... I used to be hard Cozens but man, the choice is getting really tough... I'd LOVE to have Turcotte, just hard to tell if he or Cozens will pan out better. Is Byram better than either one? I don't know anymore...</div></div>
Same, it seems like after Hughes and Kakko go 1-2, it's almost a crapshoot because the talent is pretty even from about picks 3-10. I love what Dach brings but he might be a reach at 3. But in Byram's case, you can't have too many defensive prospects. Joki, Boqvist, Beaudin, and Byram as the future top-4 for 5-10 years does make me semi-chubbed. lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>AA yes, but Saad until they can find a guy to replace Saad then no. For anyone to measure Saad based on points doesn't understand Saad or the importance of defensive forwards....his game isn't to be a dynamic winger yet most fans only read points when it comes to forwards and judge players on points versus cap hit...that is the wrong logic when measuring 200 ft players.</div></div>
Did you not read my previous comments about Saad?
"Saad is a great two-way player and valuable on the PK but his offensive production has slipped in his second stint in Chicago so I personally don't think his return will be that huge, especially with a $6mil cap hit."
Plus you made yourself look like a hypocrite liking posts about having too much cap space when you just posted a team with Hayes with more cap room than me. Also, you traded Saad for 2 2nd rounders (one of those in the high 20's mind you) and I traded him for a decent LHD stop-gap and a high 3rd and a high 4th. Seems a little fishy there my dude.

But it's not a precipitous fall from grace. I won't be upset if he is traded. Just don't think Taylor Raddysh or Ryan Strome are the answers to replacing him.</div></div>
I'm just playing it safe with one-year replacements because there are so many ways they can attack next off-season with all the UFA's. Do they trade Gus? Do they let Crow walk? Does DeBrincat somehow play better than this past year and plays himself to a $8-9 mil cap hit? Does Strome take a step-forward and demand $6mil+? Too many what if's so once they get a clear idea of what to do after next year, then they can hand out big contracts to FA's. Saad and AA will get traded either this year or next, its inevitable.

He had three straight 50 point seasons and then came back and put up 35 points 2 years ago and 47 last year...so yes, his offensive production has slipped since rejoining us...

Caggiula had chemistry with Toews and Kane, sometimes you don't need a true 1LW to play that position..We don't need to sign Dzingel or Skinner just because they are labeled as 1LW, look back a few years ago when Carcillo was playing with Toews and Kane and their line was clicking.

Saad is a great two-way player and valuable on the PK but his offensive production has slipped in his second stint in Chicago so I personally don't think his return will be that huge, especially with a $6mil cap hit. Connauton is caught in a numbers game in AZ but can be a cheap stop-gap for Beaudin (and possibly) Byram if the Hawks draft him. He blocks shots, throws his weight around, and good in his own end.
Also, I freed up alot of cap space to make sure the front office can sign DeBrincat, Strome, Gustafsson, etc. after this year, so no point to sign a bunch of FA's to long term deals.

Reaves has underrated skill on offense, a one-year flier on a pesky big man seems like little risk, especially with someone like Krys trapped in the numbers game on defense...who might even be deeper in the hole if Bowman decides to draft Bowen Byram at #3. To be honest, I overpaid for both Eakin and Reaves since Vegas is in cap hell and would be reluctant letting these 2 go who have a combined cap hit of over $6.5 mil.

Frankly...If FLA wants to trade Hoffman, they should wait until the TDL and get picks for him. AGAIN, I WANT the trade, but I don't think it'll happen.</div></div>
I feel like they gotta sell high on Hoffman...what if he plays poorly and loses his value? Its not as big of a risk on the Hawks to take a one-year flier on him. Forsling is the odd-man out now that Dahlstrom AND Koekkoek got re-signed, plus Anisimov doesn't figure into the future plans since DeBrincat, Strome, Gustafsson, Crawford, Caggiula, etc. all come due after this year..Saad may also be on the move sooner or later to make room for said players. Plus Q gets Anisimov back and we all know how much Q was enamored with Anisimov. Also, the Hawks have had a lot of success with signing overseas players so the draft capitol loss doesn't hurt the Hawks as much.

It's bad contract for bad contract. But I think Lucic can provide more in a bottom-6 role on offense, then Seabrook in a top-4 dman role. Gus will probably not be re-signed after next season so might as well sell high when you can. Kahun is not a top-6 forward and Puljujarvi has a higher ceiling than Kahun.

"Nope; you move Anisimov either at the TDL or after the season, Crow re-signs for less as his last contract (-$2M). That leaves $10.5M plus the increase in cap ($3M) so $13.5M for Cat and Strome ($7M and $5M = $12m). And if that's not enough if the Hawks want to keep Gus and Caggs, you trade Saad."
To your point on Boqvist and Jokiharju, Hawks will need to move Zaits and may need to retain or alternatively they don't re-sign Gus and flip Jokiharju to the left side where he played a bit this season.</div></div>

Saving Toronto from cap hell but putting us back in it. You realize DeBrincat and Strome need to be re-signed, right? total they're gonna cost $12mil+, not including Gus and Crawford if you had any intention on bringing them back. You also screw over Boqvist or Joki because you won't be able to trade Seabs so either Joki or Boqvist sits when they are both wearing the indian head.

I'd rather use that money on shorter deals for quality depth then put all that money on one person while creating depth issues in the bottom 6. I'd rather have Tanev, Brassard, and Ferland who can play multiple roles then giving a huge contract to Panarin or Duchene and creating another cap issue we're stuck with for (possibly) 7-10 years.

I could understand ONE of either Edler or Stralman, but not both...and not for more that a year or two. most likely 1 year from Stralman because he'll want a bounce back year for a larger deal following. I can't see him being happy with $2.75M. He'll accept that for a 1 year deal, but I'm sure a vet RD is looking for $5M+ for a playoff team.</div></div>
My other option instead of Edler was Bouwmeester. He provides more defensively and could be had for less years and value.

This is terrible cap management. By signing 2 men to deals that total over 14 million in AAV, you just pissed away any opportunity to sign DeBrincat (about 7-8 mil AAV), Strome (5-6 mil AAV), Kahun (2-3 mil AAV), and Gustafsson (3-4 mil AAV).

I don't mind this. However the cap-hits are a little inflated of everyone you re-signed. Dahlstrom will make 800-900k, Kampf will be less than 1.5 and Forsling will also be less than 1.5. I think in order to obtain Dzingel, Tanev, and Haula you have to get rid of one or both of Anisimov and Saad. Especially with DeBrincat, Strome, Kahun, Crawford, and Gustafsson's contracts expiring after next year. Great depth on offense but the defense looks atrocious still. I wouldn't even consider re-signing Forsling, but packaging him in a deal for top-4 dman to bridge the gap for Boqvist and Beaudin.
