I'm just saying. They had multiple 40 goal scorers 2 top line centers, a great goalie until he got injured. Culture is so important in a team.
IMO that's the number 1 reason the Habs did not draft Michkov.

Reinbacher and Hutson and Guhle and Barron and harris and Xhekaj and matheson for a couple of years and our forwards we need some of Farrell, Roy, Heinemann, Kidney, slafovsky, RHP, Ylonen, Beck, Mesar, newhook, to become good players. i like roy the best. He was awesome with Bedard.
The defense is going to be great. We need a game breaker up front .. maybe in the draft or maybe you sign a free agent to be that player. A player like Nylander or someone like that</div></div>
I'm on the same page. Their only need is a game breaker, unless the kids step up and Dach & Slaf become "who they are supposed to be", then I would argue you don't need to add, just keep developing your futures who pop and trading the ones who don't for more futures.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>danielcoe</b></div><div>I think slaf is more important and has more upside than newhook. If you are going to do that then send slaf to laval to play in all situations. We have great players going to laval next year so that could work...I would not play slaf in the bottom six in montreal again.. he wont develop put anderson there before i would put slaf there. bit in all honesty laval might be the best place for him</div></div>
I agree to some extent, I would have had Slafkovsky in Laval last season, in my opinion he was forced into an NHL role he just wasn't ready for. Being 19 years old, I think he is ready for a consistent 3rd line role (2nd unit powerplay) and will move up into the top 6 either through his play or if injuries necessitate it. By the end of the season I expect Slafkovsky to be playing on the top line with Suzuki and Caufield, when that happens is up to him. We honestly have to see where he is at come training camp and the start of the season, this is all just speculation from you and I until then.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>I think they should keep the 6 centers. If they surprise with their play in the first half, they will need them to push for the playoffs (and I know I am getting ahead of myself and setting unrealistic expectations...)</div></div>
I'm all for that too, playing center myself growing up I think it is huge having a lefty and righty on the same line that can take draws on their strong sides. Monahan + Suzuki, Newhook + Dach should yield strong face-off percentages. Plus if you have an injury at center you still have the depth, it's huge. I would always try to ice at least 6 players with center experience, probably have another one as 13th / 14th forward too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>Our Fanbase isnt Fickle its pissed at Molson.
We didnt have these issues with Gillette
He brought us Kovalev and Souray among others
Brought us Huet to give Price and Halak time after Theodore sh*t the bed.
Bronfmans were the same way , the fans supported them as it was a mix of today and tomorrow they invested in.
Molson its Whiplash 100% of the time
Comes in 30 days before the draft throws out the plan
Drafts Leblanc in MTL upon his return and passed on Krieder which cost him a cup in 2014(he cant injure Price if he was a Habs)
Right away he had to contend and blew so much of the assets Gillette had stock piled with Gainey.
Molson as well as spending what we had while picking French players for the first time in a Decade + in the first 2/3 drafts he had.(both players busted and that stopped happening )
He spent the next decade failing to build up half the talent that Gillette did in 4 years and fumbled a lot of 1st round prospects development .
Geoff's networth is less then my Uncle's for a reason, he's the least successful son of Eric the owner who brought up Roy Debacle and lead to his family being ousted from the Chairman of the Board for over 2 decades . Andrew and Justin work for the Brewery and have their own Firm together without Geoff. Also Geoff's work history at Molson shows he was sporadically involved unlike his brothers who are a constant. 2016 when he left Molson to "focus full time on winning " we lost a lot and when he returns in 2021 when his brother won Chairman of the Board seat MTL made a SCF. The only reason he has the job is because he has the time and daddy's money. (well assets which he leveraged to get loans from the bank but without Daddy its all just dreams)
Im not saying he's a bad dude
He's just the worst possible owner you could imagine
I mean what kinda POS screws Price like that after his Prejudice in Picks cost Price is Knee.(if he bought a month later then Gainey's choosing Kreider in tune with his previous Drafts of BPA)
He's the Problem and when we fired everyone he hired for failing he shoulda stepped down as President of Hockey Operations and given it to Gorton not the VP BS</div></div>
Geeez. This is too much animosity and delusion.

LMAO, I am pretty well respected o this site, you on the other hand aren't. Most fanbases on here agree that you k own little about hockey and just troll everyone else. You are also the one throwing a fit and being an emo clown, I know Kovacevic is a 6-8 D man and he doesn't have much value but the Jets need RHD and management would rather have NHL players than picks or prospects as I pointed out in the description and I <strong>could</strong> have included Savard or Eddy but you would just whine about that too and they have more value than Kovy or a 3rd.

Unless he will for under 8 mil he is not coming here.. So I think Rangers or LA is the most likely.</div></div>
Yup, I could see that. It's nice that it is a summer trade, where you can exceed the cap by 10% and there's lots of expiring contracts. It makes it easier to get trades done.

Ah yes, the ridiculous statements about Kirby Dach again. I'll reference the original point of this post, that a forward is more or less what he is by age 25 in this league. Up until that point, I don't really judge them. Circumstances being what they are, it takes some players longer, or they get injured.
Look at Owen Tippet as an example. Huge jump from 1 year to the next. Same for Cody Glass.
I don't count players out until 25 and I like the eye test a heck of a lot better than advanced stats, which I view as 6-on-6 stats attributed to a single player.

Does this seem like a good move up deal to draft Perreault
I honestly can't say that this is a good or bad move, but me personally wouldn't make this move. The positives of this move is that we have a plethora of LHD that we need to move and getting a top 16 pick in this draft, stacked as it is, would be a great use of our strength at the LHD position and other picks. However Xhekaj has quickly become a foundational piece among our team in a very impressive way. He's underratedly good offensively, I wish I had his hands for my beer league, he's an important figure to the young guys (Him, Slaf, and Ghule seem to be real close ever since they all got the call up together, and even before as they all hung out along with Mesar during the summer), and his physicality and willingness to use it more than compensate for guys like Caufield or Farrell's lack of size and Slafkovsky lack of understanding on how to use his size. And probably most importantly, we got him for free, he's proved everyone wrong at every level of hockey he's played, and I think he's only going to get better.
I know that Habs fans tend to overrate Xhekaj and other team's fans tend to call us out on it, but he genuinely deserves a lot of praise and respect.
So honestly I can't get behind trading him at this point in his career, while this may be the highest value he ever has, I'd bet good money that he only goes up from here.

Calm down. No one here, including me, said he was "so terrible". We all said, he's worth 6.75-7.75M as a 60 point player, especially on an 8 year deal.
No one has said they don't want him, just that, none of us want him "at any price".
Edit: There is also no one on this thread who thinks of him as a top line center.

One because he wants too much money and we dont need him with Dach suzuki and the center we get in the draft... not to mention that we have beck and kidney and evans and dvorak.. so why should we upset our caP structure for a free agent with some questions about his heart and compete. We are better off without him than paying too much for him.</div></div>
I agree that's what I think is the most likely outcome. He'd be stupid to limit himself to one team if he wants to get paid. Painting yourself into a corner by only wanting to sign with one team when you are going into a contract negotiation isn't going to get you much.
If Montreal really does want to keep Suzuki as the cap for salaries, then I think PLD would want to go elsewhere. I think he's fairly confident he can get more than Suzuki somewhere.

Actually he made a nice distinction where he said the way he generates offence is not at all the way Caufield does. Caufield does not carry the puck, he finds the open space and sets up for a shot. Michkov carries the puck a lot and he, according to Arpon, passes much better than Caufield does.
How many games of Michkov's have you watched, as Arpon claims to have just watched the majority of the last year's worth of Michkov's games, and I believe him when he says he did.
I unfortunately use all my free rtime posting on this site and I cannot go scout Michkov.
