I would be good with any of those trades (as long as Jake's healthy).

So, you're sending Jake and Graves and a second for Schmaltz and a third? (What comes in to what goes out)
How does this make sense? Graves isn't THAT bad... and Jake's better than that, especially if he's signed an extension.

LOL.... I'm from Pittsburgh and a Pens fan. If the Pen's don't win 7 of the next 10, they're going to start selling off and retooling. Opening a lot of cap space on a deal like this isn't a bad move.</div></div>

Sid can turn him into at least a good player if not a star player as he did with Jake and Rust. He will not be a flop or anything near a flop. I have no idea about Broberg but it’s worth a gamble to throw him in this deal. If we trade Jake the return is not going to be what any of us want. Rentals at the deadline are always underwhelming and the reports of what’s being offered to us are all worse than what I have here. I’ve seen a 1st, 3rd and Warren Foegele! That’s atrocious.</div></div>
He's at least a B prospect...
Sid "Might" make him a star, but obviously, McJesus can't.

The Caps couldn't afford Jake from Pittsburgh unless there's a third team to get him off of Pitt. They'd never trade with each other as division rivals.

Go crazy o baby baby
Sid's deal starts with 4 1st rounders... you want us to retain on him? add another. Throw in Jake for Mikko, ok. Jarry, for Johansen, plus ok... then add more for retention.
To get Sid, Jarry, and Jake would require offers like the Pens got for the #1 in 1984 or deals like Lindros to Phili... Multiple 1sts and top prospects going the other way that would basically set a team for the next decade... and in the salary cap era, retention would cost just as much.
I like your creativity. and this would be a very powerful Avs team, but you just can't afford it.

Just Jake would cost the Rangers way more than he would a team from outside the division... and then you'd have to pay more for retention. Jake from Pittsburgh, with 3 mil retaied would cost you at least 2 firsts, and Kakko, then add some to that to cover the retention.

Overhaul for 24-25
If TB has a good run, Graves could easily be flipped at the draft. They may still lose out on their investment, but the trade is for 1 cup run.
The King's trade is interesting. Smith (and Graves) seems like he would flourish, just not with the Pens. There are players who can play in Pit and those that can't. It's strange how some players just can't figure how to play with certain others.
I think Flower and Quick would both cost way less than the contracts you signed them for. Ned might even cost less.
I do like the roster construction though.

sergachev out until playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>The retention on Jake. I guess it's not a HUGE deal, but it depends on why Dubas is making these trades, you know what i mean? Realistically if we're moving Jake it's because things are BAD. Complete implosion. The Pens are trending towards being in the mix until the very end, so I don't think we'll see a Jake trade, but for arguments sake, let's say contract talks go sideways and there's bad blood, ok, then maybe they move Jake for that reason and still want to stay in the mix, so they need that cap space to replace him somehow.
If it's complete implosion? Then sure, the retention isn't an issue.</div></div>
I get it. I was thinking the retention gets you a much better return than not retaining.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>It's just highly unlikely that the Pens move Jake. As far as Graves goes, despite how fans feel right now, Graves is a good dman who's simply struggling to adjust to his new team. My guess is Dubas is going to give him a full season before he considers moving him.
I do think it's a respectable offer. The only real issue is the retention here.</div></div>
The retention on Jake or not retaining on Graves?
Retaining on Jake is simple because it's only for a couple weeks. Grave could be moved by TB after the season, especially if he has a good playoff with them. I agree that he's not that bad, just not adjusting well in Pittsburgh. The change of scenery might do him very well.

Honestly, the fact that we're even arguing about his abilities and value is a testament in itself to show that he's had some improvement over last season. At this point last year, we were debating on if a first was enough to shed his contract. LOL

I thought the Jake trade was horrible... but then I saw that. For Edmonton to get anything off Calgary, they'd have to pay double or get a third team to mediate the deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Carter is actually having a solid season. We're passed the point where if the Pens had to move him that they'd have to pay a price to it. Now, I'm not saying he has crazy value or anything, but he could get a 4th at this point in trade.</div></div>
I'm not sure he's having that great of a season, but he's definitely doing well enough that we're not paying to move him. It was nice to see him score on the PP last night and his hands could help a team looking for some scoring help on the PP.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Your_Next_General_Manager</b></div><div>I'm not sure if you have been watching him because everyone puts him as a healthy scratch if the team decides to make any moves.</div></div>
He's played better this year, but still not enough to match his contract... and there are a lot of other players who are better and more deserving of a chance, especially if it's someone we'd like to keep for next year.

Pitt might accept that deal if they weren't retaining anything. Blomqvist is playing really well and could fill in as a backup if they trade Ned.
