Trade Deadline

Pens aren't trading Blueger for a pick. They are looking to add to their roster to win now, if they are trying to subtract it should be Carter, Dumoulin, or McGinn but any of those players are going to cost extra to offload. Just no reason for the Pens to move Blueger.

Not sure why we are pushing Geno to 3C when Trocheck is actually better suited for 3C given his production and play style.

I'd rather have Geno at that price point with those line mates and watch him have a hell of a season since he won't be dragging around Heinen and Kapenan.

That's definitely true and unfortunate. I'd rather run Blueger as 3C and scale back Carter's minutes. Dude skates in mud around game 55-60. Guy was buried in his own end.
Blueger can play with talent, give him a shot at 3C.

Letang won't be taking a contract with a cap hit less than his previous. Geno on the other hand should based on his comments.

Pens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bijon</b></div><div>That's fair. Some of the moves I did were more placeholders. Boyle/Zohorna are placeholders for "min contract player". DeSmith is a placeholder for a backup goalie. Honestly wasn't expecting anyone to look at this haha. Was just playing around.
However, I would be ok with mostly returning the difference makers. Completely dominated the Rangers and should've won easily. Maybe the Rangers are just that bad but I was happy with the playoff performance minus the result which I pin on injuries and refs.</div></div>
While I agree that the Pens dominated the Rangers and probably would have won with Jarry in net, I still think the Pens need some finishers. Removing Kap, Zucker and maybe Dumo since he's lost a step, and letting POJ and DOC player would give the Pens the ability to sign someone who can actually score goals. Kap and Zucker have been ridiculous underwhelming in their Pens Tenure, and I think Dumo can be replaced nowadays. Preferably by Petts, and let Matheson play with Marino. 3rd Pair of POJ-Ruh would be fine by me.

Definitely don't expect Puustinen or Poulin to pencil in on the 3rd line. They're both overrated af. DOC should get regular time. Nylander MAYBE deserves a look. Pens need to go bargain bin shopping for the bottom 6.

Don't get me wrong, I think coaches would do that based on name alone lol but I don't think it's the right move for him anymore. Plus, the Pens have a logjam at LD and I think based on his reputation he'd be the easiest to move with rep+contract. Matheson's contract is an albatross. Pettersson, I think he's solid but he might be able to be moved.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>What's Dumolin's deal? Did he have a bad year this year?</div></div>
I think Dumo would be solid in a middle pairing, or bottom pairing at this point in his career. He lost some foot speed, and his gap control has faltered a bit. A few years ago, he was able to get back when he made pinches/etc. but this season it just seemed like he couldn't get those first couple steps in. He still does a good job of limiting scoring chances/high dangers in general and he's solid on the PK but I think his dip in play earned him a demotion to the 2nd pairing, maybe 3rd (depending on what team he's playing on). I wouldn't have him as a complimentary player on the 1st pair anymore though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>Geno put up over half of his points on the PP. That is all he is good at anymore. You can't have a guy who is a 5 on 5 liability half the time making 6.6 million a year at 36 years old. It is a bad idea. I am not saying they won't resign him but it would be a mistake</div></div>
Geno had an xGF of 54.27%. Sid had an xGF of 54.47%. Biggest different likely causing the final results? Quality of teammates. Sid plays the majority with Jake, Rust, Letang. Geno plays with Heinen, Kapenan, Matheson.
One of those groups is not like the other. Geno's "liability" is more likely due to his poorly chosen linemates than it is his play. When they swapped Rakell to Sid's line and Rust with Geno, Geno's line went 9 gf, 7 ga. Big difference when you give him a bonafide top winger.

Ah yes, paying guys for small sample sizes but not seasons of mediocrity before that.
All the while ignoring Geno putting up 40g pace, and a ppg in the regular season and still putting up 1 less point then Trochek in the 1 round.

You want to give Trochek 6.5m? I'd rather have Geno at the 6.6m he's rumored to want. Trochek is overrated because he was born in Pittsburgh.
