When have you ever seen 9 players from 1 team move the other way?
And for 2 x 3rd lines and 3rd paid D ??

In regards to harts spot and cap hit, I'm sure they will find a way to remove that cap hit or at least open a roster spot. I mean last I heard every one of these players is still on the active roster (ouch what are the devils going to do).</div></div>
I would assume they would need to terminate his contact like Chicago did with Perry. But then would they lose his RFA rights?

You are right though Liljegren is a better skater and passer and is younger but so is Mete and look where he is now. Liljegren isn't a better D man than Savard, he isn't better than Mete, no way he is better than Savard</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DealFinder67</b></div><div>What is Lily’s ceiling? Is he a shut down guy? He is average size, not physical, not many points. What is he going to blossom into? For me, on a good team he will be a bottom pair guy his whole career</div></div>
Since we are on CapFriendly lets use their scouting as a guide. Lilly is ranked 80 P2 and Savard 75 P3 Lily is ranked with a higher celling and high ranked among his peers in that group.
When you take into account ALL factors Lily is the better option.

Do you watch Leaf's games? he's more physical than he gets credit for. He has more hits than Savard, Lily is the by far the better skater, puck moving/passer, offensive.
as far as blocked shots he has 62 to Savard's 78 not that far off and with all that said he's 9 years younger on a cheaper contact that's cost controlled.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Not really.
Holmberg is an undersized almost 25 yo depth forward, we already have Gally and RHP in the bottom 6 don't need Holmberg too.
Liljegren is good and is ok as a filling for Savard but he is also 25, undersized for a D man and can't clear the front of the net or block pucks, just not a good long-term fit.
These are mid round picks that we have 10 of in the next 2 drafts, not interested in adding 2 more.</div></div>
Habs would take that deal and run, One for one Lily is the better option over Savard and its the Habs that should be adding

Savard and Lily are 2 different players not taking into consideration the fit for the team just looking at the player liljegren is by far the better option.
Savard is better defensively but is older and way slower with no offensive ability. Lily is just stating to hit that age that D start to blossom.

Whats the cost of
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>I don't think they would want to either but that's what Guentzel would cost. There have been VERY few players of his skill available at the trade deadline over the years.
I can't honestly think of a player as good as Guentzel who was a rental being traded at the deadline since Hossa. He cost the Pens their best prospect (ranked in the 30s at the time), two cheap middle 6 forwards, and a 1st.
I think Guentzel would go for:
1st + NHL player (for salary and replacement) + top 30 prospect
Tor doesn't have a top 30 prospect so they would have to give up a former top 30 (Knies) or two current top 60 (Miten and Cowan).
I could be proven wrong but that's how I see it.</div></div>
That was a long time ago and at the end of the day they gave up a 1st and a prospect. Colby Armstrong and Eric Christensen did not add much value to the deal. One thing you don't take into consideration is that Dubas knows the Leaf's prospects well and might covet players that might not be highly rated.
At the end of the day most GMs make their biggest mistakes at the trade deadline.

Whats the cost of
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Bertuzzi and Domi make sense in terms of Pit getting an NHL player to plug into Guentzel's spot. Also salary balance.
I'm not trying to be negative or disparage you. Based on the calibre of player and the reports of what he would fetch, my suggestions would fit the bill.
I think a 1st + Solid Prospect is light. Low 1st + NHL player + Blue Chip (can't miss / highly ranked) prospect.
Since Tor doesn't have a prospect ranked higher than 50ish, they would need to include both of their top 100 prospects. Or Knies.
I don't think Tor would pay that.</div></div>
The reason I say Bertuzzi and Domi don't make sense is because the are both UFAs. Getting an NHL player with term would make sense for the Pens.
I meant for it to read he's worth a 1st + Solid Prospect + (another pick prospect or RFA )
There would be no way they would give us Knies or Miten + Cowen for a rental

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Guentzel is not a top 6 forward, he is one of the best forwards in the NHL. I can't think of a player of his calibre being traded in season since Hossa.</div></div>
He's a pending UFA on a non playoff team. if he's not going to be resigned then he needs to be moved.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>A Tor trade for Guentzel would look like:
Knies + Bertuzzi / Domi + 1st
Or
Minten + Cowan + Bertuzzi / Domi + 1st
(That is Bertuzzi or Domi, not both)
Both of which are more than Tor would want to pay, which is why I don't see it.</div></div>
So pending UFAs don't bring back players like Bertuzzi or Domi and it would make no sense as both are pending UFAs themselves.
With that said the return would be a 1st + Solid Prospect +
I agree my trade is light but that's why the title is "what's the cost of"

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Replace the 3rd and 5th with Toronto's 2024 1st and Calgary accepts.</div></div>

He's not worth a 1st, Knies or Minten.
Do I think they can get a first its possible but if it was offered they would have moved him already.

If it gets the Leafs a better return for Marner- and it definitely should- then they should do it

The Leaf's are in their contender window and if they were to make this deal its because they are using that money on someone else not to get a better prospect or pick.

He's 38 and very tainted right now. The NHLPA is going to open a grievance on his contract termination that might end up bringing forward more details on what he did. Does a playoff team needs that type of distraction? especially in a Canadian city? He's not that guy that some here think he is

Too much movement and no need to the Perry Drama. The NHPA is going to file a grievance with the NHL about the contact termination so this will just create a bigger circus around the team then normal
and that is not needed.
