Why would the Stars give Thornton money and a roster spot when they have Bourque, Dellandrea, Johnston, Stankoven, Blumel, and Damiani all knocking on the door or ready to be a full time NHLer?

Stars don't have the cap space for Zucker, and even if they did, the Pens would have to be the ones trading the picks to get rid of him.

If the Stars are able to shed the Suter, Faksa, and Khudobin contracts, that money isn't going to be spent on another cap dump like Hornqvist

American Winnipeg as in your not good or bad
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Oettinger should get 2 and 6 or 3 and 9. Great post season, but he has no arbitration rights. Robertson may need to be bridged too just because of the Seguin and Benn contracts.</div></div>
If the Stars could've signed Otter to a 3m per year deal then he'd be signed by now. Problem is that there are no exact comparables, Hart and Demko are the closest but both of their situations have differences from Otter's. Robo bridge for 3 years would be good, but also hope that they are able to lock him up long term now so that way they can save money in the future.

I highly doubt Oettinger is going to get 6.5m a year, he's more in the 4-5.5 range. Stars signed Marchment to be in their top 6, so switch him and Benn. Also if the Stars were able to clear all that cap, I don't think they would use it to sign two 36+ year old 4th liners and trade for Andreas Johnsson, they would definitely have their sights set higher.

Yeah I don't think that the value is too far off or anything like that, I just don't think that the Stars need Shattenkirk and that they'd be better off finding a team to take Khudobin for something less than a first

Dallas doesn't have the roster space for Shattenkirk, and they can shed Khudobin's contract without giving up a 1st

Robo and Otter get bridge deals and stars make big moves to win the cup
Chicago isn't trading Kane for a bunch of cap dumps, Calgary isn't trading Toffoli for a couple AHLers, Olofsson isn't worth a third, Robo is getting more than 5m on a bridge deal, Durzi easily gets more than 1.25m, Why would you trade a second round pick for a 37 year old 4th liner? It's not that hard to do even a little research before making an ACGM

Dallas has no need for Bonino, especially at that price. Stars have enough bottom 6 guys who can fill the role that Bonino would have in the lineup

Hawks Full Reset
As a Stars fan I think Jones would be a great fit as Miro's partner, but at 9.5x8 there is just no way that that can financially work long term because if they made this trade there would be a very real chance that the Stars would have 6 guys making 8+ plus in the next two years and that's not a recipe for success especially when two of them are declining (Could even throw Jones in that category as well). Maybe if the Hawks were willing to take Lindell, Faksa, and Khudobin, or two of those guys and retain at least 25%, it could maybe work, but still it doesn't make a ton of sense for the Stars or Hawks really

Going all in
I highly doubt that the Oilers get a 2nd rounder for Barrie, and the Stars don't have the cap or roster space for him. They don't need a Klingberg replacement, they have Miro as the true #1 now and Harley who is a young offensive defenseman.

A. Why would you guys trade Allen for an inferior goalie when it looks like Price is going to miss the whole year? B. Why would the Stars trade for Allen when they already have Otter and Wedgewood (and Dobby before this trade)?

Stars definitely don't need a backup, they have Oettinger and Wedgewood, and Dobby should be healthy this year so they don't need to trade him unless its a cap clearing move

If you watch closely he does some cheeky stuff behind the play. I remember there's been a couple times he's tripped or heavily slashed someone after they scored an empty netter lol. He was definitely on the bubble for this team so someone else could easily take his place.

The Stars would be better off just matching it and not making the trade. 5m might be a bit more than what they want to give him right now but if he keeps on his current trajectory that will be a steal of a contract in 2 years

Even if they were retooling they'd be better off using Benn's money on players who will consistently contribute, not more overpaid guys who have 2-3 years left on their deals

Yeah I don't think Dallas is going to trade their captain and then replace him (and his money) with a middle 6 forward and two bottom of the lineup players who are overpaid
