Yes, misttyped that. Should have read 97 OR 29. If the plan is 97 and 29 on the same line then definitely JP is the best choice, but separating them and keeping Nuge and Yamamoto with Drai, Connor with an extremely skilled player like Rakell is ideal.

Maybe the same value, but Rakell is inexpensive and if extended for a few years would also be a player that could drastically outperform his contract. Worst case scenario is he is a more useful version of Kahun.

Kemp is very solid, had a great college career and good AHL season until he busted his hand in a fight. 2022 vs 2021 probably works, either way it's a salary dump and the Oilers get a very useful middle 6 winger in Wood.

He has regressed but he isn't exactly playing with world beaters. Put Rakell on a line with 97 and 29 and magic follows.

Realistic
Probably works. Nick > Chiasson by a bit, and Brett probably fits in as the 13/14F. Benson > Senyshyn, but not by much. Even trade skill wise, salary probably split the difference and EDM retains $250-300k on Chiasson.

$1.8m in cap space won't fill the empty 4 spots you have on your roster.

Caleb Jones is a top 6 D. Why pay Kulikov when Caleb Jones is in the system? Also Ethan Bear on a 2 year deal is ~$3m he wouldn't and shouldn't take $1.25m.

Besides the fact that all 3 trades are heavily in TOR's favor and wouldn't happen, you also have a minor problem called cap space. You can't have $200k in cap space on a 20 man roster.... you're missing 3 players ($2.1m) from your roster. Even if Dubas runs a 22-man roster, you're still missing $1.4m. The math doesn't add up.

Ostap Safin is not worth anything. He was hurt all season long and when he came back from injury he put up 2 points... both assists... in 23 playoff games. His stock as a prospect has tanked.

I'm not so sure about that. As much as Edmonton loves baby Nuge, if this deal was available Holland would jump at it to fill the top 9 forwards with more than AHL tweeners. It instantly would make the Oilers a more balanced team.

If Holland trades Larsson for Ceci and Bracco Oilers fans would swear Chiarelli was still in the building. This is a horrific awful ****ty trade that sends significantly more value to the Leafs that what is coming back.

The first trade with CBJ doesn't make sense. The Oilers can bury $1m of both Gagner and Manning by placing them in the AHL... so retaining $1m of each and you have effectively traded a 3rd and 6th for a 4th. Chiarelli is that you?

I agree on Manning, didn't see the math was so similar. Since the cost is about the same it makes 100% sense just to bury him and save the cap hit next season.

A factor that makes the deal more palatable is that Stolarz is likely to be a UFA himself if he doesn't make 10 more appearances this year.</div></div>
And because the Oilers are idiots, they won't get him in for those 10 games and it will be Talbot for nothing.

You aren't in as bad of shape as the Oilers though. I shed tears for you but more for my Oilers. 9 picks in the first two rounds of the next 2 drafts is a good place to be. Just don't be Oilery and trade 3 of those picks of Griffin Reinhart.

Don't get me wrong, if the Oilers pulled that off and won their first trade in.... years, I would be ecstatic. I just don't think they can; and we have some rather dire salary cap issue of our own.

WPG needs to free up cap space. Adding RNH and RFA Nurse's $5-6m contract doesn't do much when they can use that money to sign Trouba and Connor.
Trouba > Nurse
Connor > RNH
Trouba's next contract starts with a 7. Connor's next contract starts with a 6.
If something is to be done with the Jets, it is more likely the 2019 1st + Puljujarvi + inexpensive D (Benning/Jones) for Ehlers.

Burakovsky is a tremendous talent with serious speed and in need of a change of scenery. Playing alongside either of #29/#97 is a major upgrade to any of our current top 6 wingers. Giving up Benning, who next year is redundant with Persson/Bouchard/Bear/ or whoever takes the 3RD spot in the summer, plus a 3rd round pick is a fair price to pay for a player who has the tools to score 20 per season, especially with one of our big name C's. We currently have 1 winger who will eclipse 20G, and that is a PTO in Chiasson.

That's not realistic. If that's the case he will just come off the books in the summer and wouldn't be traded. It may well be Elliot or Stolarz straight across, other than that he wouldn't be moved, it's a waste of assets.

Niskanen is better than Benning, but he gives some cover for injury and with a partner that isn't a pile of garbage like he has in Edmonton he may be fine in the top 4.
