Building lines
A little too early however always fun to speculate.
Debrincat, Batherson, Pinto, Stutzle and Norris all can load up and shoot. Nice luxury.

My Opening Night Lineup
Looks really good. Mine is very similiar
Thoughts:
Boy has Zaitsev looked terrible.
Pinto has looked amazing and that he deserves to be on the top 2 lines. What a luxury having him on the third line.
Although Watson has not had a good preseaon I think I would have him on the fourth line as their right winger. They need a little sandpaper as their first 3 lines tend to be finesse players (not Brady of course). Kelly would switch over to the right side.
Thus far I too have Brassard making the team however I think that I would scratch him until there is an opening on the top 3 lines.

Possible next year
That is a hefty price to pay. Zaitsev has only a year left on his contract and most likely the $2 bonus is paid when you this suggested deal transpires. With Chabot and Sanderson as 1 and 2 on the left side paying this much for a natural left D puts future years in peril with all those assets going the other way. There is a good chance that JBD, Guenette or Thompson are able to step by then.
Although Chychrun has a great contract Ottawa can use that money as wiggle room to extend DeBrincat, Sanderson and Pinot +.

Deal or No Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheeDjeeEem</b></div><div>Which prospect do you think has the higher ceiling? Jarventi is better now</div></div>
Jarventie has the better potential to score. Ottawa needs Boucher for his rough and tough style as a bottom 6. For Ottawa this is about filling a need not necessarily about who will be the better player.

Shane Pinto 1C in 2 years
Move Jarventie up to 3rd line and move Crookshank down to fourth however I must say you got it right.
Hopefully they can afford this lineup.

Chych wants out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>-Zaitsev has a 10-team NTC, I would be shocked if Arizona wasn't on it. I assume they're basically on everyone's NTC list (unless someone really wants to play in a 5000 cap arena again.) Also, judged by how expensive cap space was this summer, and how Arizona is a cap floor team that doesn't want to spend money, I think it's going to cost more than a 2nd to dump Zaitsev's 2x$4.5M.
-Brannstrom's value is much, much lower than Lundkvist's. Right off the bat, it's known that GMs value right hand shots over lefties, so that's one strike; strike 2 is that Brannstrom is no longer on his ELC the way Lundkvist is (so not exempt from waivers and due a new contract next summer); third strike is that Brannstrom has already been over in the US for 4 professional seasons and hasn't shown any growth in his game to becoming an NHL player. Most folks look past Lundkvist's struggles last year because it was his first season in North America (and fwiw most folks were surprised that the Rangers managed to get a 1st back for him.)
-Ostapchuk profiles as a bottom-6 winger who needs to work on his offense to raise his profile above that. Arizona is going to want one of your top prospects in a Chychurn trade, not a mid-tier guy.
-Dylan Gambrell adds zero value to this. Arizona has a half dozen Dylan Gambrells already, they don't need another.
It's a pair of 1sts and Ridley Greig if you want Chychurn. Mayyybe Arizona drops it to a 1st/3rd/Greig/Brannstrom, but that's if you're lucky.</div></div>
Ottawa says no politely and fills the role internally. Ask and get are 2 different things. BTW - I would not trade Pinto straight up for Chychrun.

Agreed. I also think that based on the games I have seen thus far that JBD is the frontrunner on the third line right side D.

Wideman has nice offensive tools however he is small and slow. Ottawa needs more of a defensive defenseman to play their right side.

The Puljujärvi for Formenton would be interesting for Ottawa prior to getting Giroux. Their top 6 is pretty locked in.
Even as a die hard Ottawa fan it would be fun seeing McDavid and Formenton fly down the ice on one line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NDoody</b></div><div>Even still your giving up 2 2nds, Brannstrom, and Hamonic for Demelo and moving Zaistev's contract. Help me here, I don't see this as a plus for the Sens. Demelo while a good player and I liked him here a lot is now 30 at the end of this season, so he likely aged out of the window for the Sens. this is a short term fix that doesn't help solidify the D core for during there real window.
I would rather have Branstromm still and keep the picks.</div></div>
I see your point if you are not considering the pipeline. This is a good 1-3 year solution. By that time the Sens will have other prospects that are hopefully ready to make the jump to the NHL.
They never should have traded Demelo a couple years ago. I never understood that trade.

As the Ottawa GM the only way I might consider this deal if I could parlay they 2nd and 3rd round into getting rid of Zaitsev. However, without looking at the fine print of Myers deal, the sticking point could be the real dollars paid to Myers this and next year. Ottawa still does not have deep pockets.

I never said that it was a fair trade. I would be willing to throw in more as an Ottawa GM. My point was that I really like Whitecloud and the starting pieces of the trade make sense.

Weegar instead of Chychrun
Calgary would be crazy not to accept this trade (in the long run) and Ottawa would be crazy to make it. Weagar is a UFA in 1 year. If it was a sign and trade possibly if the numbers makes sense for Ottawa's long term cap situation the trade might make sense.
This packakeage would be okay if Chychrun because you are least buying 3 years at a reasonable hit.

The value in Chychurn is not only derived from his play it is also in the length and the low dollars. Trading for Weagar who is a UFA after this year for Chychurn really does not make sense.
