<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I don't take any disrespect at all. This is a good honest conversation. I agree that the tandem of EK/BB would be better in CAR than in SJS, BUT better/worse doesn't equal good/bad imo. Part of that is because CAR has good defensive dmen. Slavin/Skjei/Pesce allow the Burns/Deangelos of the world to be who they are.

There's only 60 minutes in a game. 25:37 ATOI plus 23:13 leaves something like 11 minutes left over? Is your plan for Skjei to play 11 min a game? Doesn't seem like a wise move to me. Also, EK and BB are both offensively minded defenseman. ONE of them is going to get the shaft. IDK whether that'll be Burns sent to the 2nd PP or Karlsson, but they both want that #1 PP role...and there's only 1 spot available. BUT, Anthony Deangelo is ALSO an offensive minded defenseman. imagine him getting ZERO PP time.

So why give up all those assets when you KNOW whether it's Burns or EK...you're not going to get full value out of one of them. Just sign AD and keep all those assets.</div></div>

I get your point but I also think RBA spreads time more evenly and better than most. Top 4 probably would average 22 min a game ideally to keep everyone fresh through the season. Having Skjei and chatty play 15/16 a game isn’t ideal bc they’re better than that but it’s a nice luxury to have.

I think the PP1 QB is probably the biggest challenge if burns and ek care more about that than winning. Idk if they would but would hope they both just want to win a cup at this stage of their careers. I also was thinking about that this morning and was wondering why they couldn’t both be on PP1?

Svech Aho Bunting
Burns EK

Henrique/Tatar KK Jarvis
Necas Orlov/TDA

That’s a pretty good set of PPs and you can interchange the pieces to find the best mixes. I also wouldn’t bring in tda if ek was coming anyways as I think orlov could easily run pp2 if you pair burns and ek on the first unit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>The Jersey defence will improve though but expecting Burns to never age is a bad bed. Slavin is top 5 defenceman in the league though. Pesce is super overrated, good but he's not what you guys bill him as. Skjei is not all that good but fits his role fine on a team with a very good defensive system. Both teams are very good. I think Jersey could maybe take a small step back but be better in the playoffs, I don't see Carolina being any different than last year. They could win the division maybe the president's trophy but come the playoffs their offence will dry up and trusting Anderssen when it really matters is not a good bet.</div></div>

Eventually burns will prob decrease. Skjei and pesce have been great together for a few years so if they’re still there I expect similar results, whether people think they’re overrate or not. Orlov adds a great element and added depth. Bunting also adds some scoring and pest type play which is arguably needed. Anderson was great in playoffs and was a vezina candidate the year before. Koochie and Raanta have been good when they’ve needed to spell him so not that concerned with goaltending in general with the defensive support in front of them especially.

Still think there’s another move coming at some point this summer. I’d rather it be a top 6/9 add like Vladdy or something else via trade versus swapping EK for pesce. Don’t think they’re done yet tho.

Either way I expect them and devils to have close race during season and I’m expecting canes to take a step forward. I’m biased but also thing the team is absolutely a top 5 contender and if they stay healthy and get hot they’ve got as good a chance as rest of legit contenders.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Who is acting proud? Let’s go over the chain of events here… canes fan posts playoff predictions , i and other leaf and non leaf fans call him out for the obscene homerism (they just got swept!). You ride in on your - I can only assume a - Subaru outback to save hurricanes fans from the big, mean leafs fan. Get over yourself - no one asked your opinion but if you take shots at the leafs I (we) should be able to defend ourselves, seems only fair</div></div>

I think it was a few leafs fans that got really upset about the post and a couple other fan bases made tongue in cheek comments but were nowhere near as upset as you guys. I’m not really sure why these types of things irritate you and some of your louder leafs buddies on here. Of course the dude who posted this is gonna pick the canes to win, they’re a top 5-8 team and any of those teams have a pretty even shot at winning. Typically it comes down to which of those teams gets hot at the right time and stays healthy. Look at Florida last year, they made the run but were beat up by the time they got Vegas and ran out of gas.

Canes got swept and that sucked. Games were close but a sweep is a sweep. They made some strong adds so far and should be in a good position again this year. Just like Avs knights stars leafs devils oilers and a couple others. Idk why this turned into such a pissing match with various teams who’ve come up short in recent and/or longer history. This isn’t surprising though when you look at the folks behind each side.
