VAN
  1. 2024 7th round pick (ANA)
ANA
  1. Myers, Tyler
  2. Rathbone, Jack
  3. 2024 4th round pick (NJD)
2.
VAN
  1. Kuznetsov, Evgeny ($3,900,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Going off the Hayes and Johansson trade, you could make an argument that KUZY is better than both Hayes and Johansson offensively but there value is somewhat similar due to multiple years being left on kuzys contract, him asking for a trade, he had a down year relative to who he is as a player, and also his little party video carries a little baggage too cause that's a concern as well. Although to me he's worth the potential at this price which I believe is fair due to the reasons stated.
WSH
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (VAN)
  2. 2024 7th round pick (ANA)
3.
VAN
  1. 2024 5th round pick (OTT)
OTT
  1. Joshua, Dakota
Additional Details:
Joshua plays a rugged game and showed some improvements on the offensive end, people were talking about potential for him to be a 20 goal scorer which he could maybe reach, but I don't see it, I see him topping out as a 3rd line winger but most likely a 4th line winger who plays a heavy and rugged game, which for a 5th given his age and contract I believe it is a equal value trade.

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. You just made the team a lot worse

No interest at all in Petry, and he’d probably block a trade to Vancouver anyway (thankfully)

I doubt Petry would accept a trade to Canada at this point.

You got Petey, Kuznetsov, roslovic as you top 3 centers, and Petry is a player who would thrive next to Hughes ala Schenn but probably better. If you disagree with the trade then fine but this team is definitely better than the one we have now.

Any reason why he would not accept a trade to Vancouver?

He wanted out of Canada to be closer to family. The west side brings him even further.

There’s no reason for the caps to make that trade. It’s an easy decline.

Canucks were one of the worst defensive teams in the league and your solution is to add 2 of the worst defensive forwards in the NHL to the group? Petry is an old and declining player. Anybody works with Hughes. Thats the magic with him. You dont need to spend 6 mil on him. This team may score a lot of goals, but this team is giving up 400 a year

Only if the rest of Canada sells Vancouver to the states. Then maybe…even then probably not.

Joshua is not going anywhere, Tocchet loves him and its his type of player. Also, VAN is already very easy to play against. Petry ain't waiving to play in Canada.

In short, the Canucks should absolutely not want Jeff Petry on their roster.

Petry has been really poor the last two seasons, especially the most recent one, and at nearly 36 I expect it'll just get worse.

Why do so called sports fans have to ask the question? Players have trade clauses for a reason. The biggest reason why players would have Canucks on their no trade list, is it's a middling or worse non playoff team. Western conference travel isn't the best. Specially to Petry is that been documented is he wants to closer to home in Detroit.

It's a valid question if you are going to purpose that you know a player won't accept a trade to a certain location.

Your basis for trying to bash Kuznetsov’s value and compare him to Johansen went right out the window when you mentioned he has term remaining so he should have less value than Johansen. The Capitals are not trying to sign Ryan O’Reilly and are not desperate for Cap Space. Kuznetsov has the same amount of term left as Johansen and is clearly a superior player. The Capitals easily, quickly, and emphatically decline.

I won't even mention that Petry is a East Coast (Detroit) American with an American wife and family. What's the attraction to him to Vancouver and specifically the floundering Canucks?

Because he wanted to be closer to his family in Michigan, Why would he waive to be over 2,400 miles from them?. Makes no sense. After the trade to Pittsburgh he put all Canadian teams on his no trade list.

I’m sure pens would be happy but Petry blocks it (just do a quick Google search to see why) and nucks wouldn’t want to do it in first place.

Caps also aren’t retaining on Kuzy at 2x4m for scraps. He requested a trade but if they can’t find anything better they’ll roll with him this year and hope new coaching gets him to bounce back and then they evaluate next summer when cap goes up and he only has a year left.

Kuznetsov has 133 points over the last two years, Johansen has 113 and Hayes has 116, both over the last THREE years. Not close to the same value lol, try again.
