Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Zadorov, Nikita ($1,875,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Calgary acquires Brodie who could be moved at the deadline for them to acquire more assets and Steeves, a good young prospect ready to make the jump and a 5th just for a nice little treat on top.
CGY
  1. Brodie, TJ
  2. Steeves, Alex
  3. 2024 5th round pick (CHI)
2.
TOR
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (PIT)
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
Anaheim receives Jarnkrok who is a solid player to compliment their young rebuilding team, good placeholder that can forecheck and chip in goals, could be moved for assets if desired. Timmins adds some potential scoring ability from their blueline. Could really takeoff with the young stars in Anaheim over the next season or 2 with the right opportunity and growth. They can eaaaasily afford to move these mid round picks for some soild pieces that can apply to their NHL lineup now.
3.
TOR
  1. Byfield, Quinton
  2. Dvorak, Jakub
  3. 2024 1st round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
This is a trade deadline move. Kings move Arvidsson for assets as he's not able to provide what Nylander can do for them. Kings lock Nylander up to a long term deal upon receiving him. Toronto is able to afford to retain this season for him to help Kings fit him in. Kings don't have room for Byfield to play into a bigger role going forward as they're loaded at C with Kopi, PLD, Danault.

I like the Vaakanainen Timmons swap I just saw but we don’t have a spot for Jarnkrok

I’d love the see LA make that horrible trade being a Ducks fan but there is no way they give up that much for Nylander

The Kings give up Byfield, a 1st, and their top draftee from this summer for ~20 games of Nylander? You can't seriously think the Kings would even entertain that idea.

The only way that I'd consider this is if Toronto extended Nylander for 8 more years before the trade and retained $3M for the entirety.

not sure which trade is worse honestly.

Respect Leafs fans for being more and more into NHL Create a team mode on ACGM though.

Why would the Flames not just flip Zadorov at the deadline for a better package than more expensive older player and a prospect that has middling AHL stats and will be turning 24. Flames could get a better deal for Zadorov at 50% than anything they get back in a Brodie deal at the deadline.

I mean they work out a long term deal for him before the trade is made. They're a win now team, Byfield doesn't really have a place in their lineup after adding PLD. They give up a top D prospect but yeah he won't even be relevant until years down the line, same with the 1st. Cost of business for a 40 goal scorer.

Because Brodie makes their D better heading into the season and if they're more competitive than that helps them for the year or else they can move him for the same assets they would get for Zadorov? Plus you're getting a prospect and a pick. Steeves could make that team and be relevant no problem. Not sure what more you could ask for, steal of a deal.

Jarnkrok fits perfectly. He's so versatile, LW, C, RW. Wherever there's a gap in the top 9 he's there. He's Pagliacci.

If those teams know what's good for em, they'd go for it. I'll call Mr.Treliving right now to get started on these.

Brodie slots behind Andersson and behind Tanev... just like Zadorov, the Flames have seen enough of him first hand to know that trying him on the left is a joke, meaning he doesn't even make the current iteration of the Flames D core better for this season. Not sure why the Flames pay an extra million+ to have a D man that is coming off an injury riddled season that would play on the third pair. Steeves is a nothing burger, does he even crack the Leafs top 10 prospects in a system that's ranked near the middle of the pack? It's a really poorly thought out deal. You're dumping salary and sending spare parts.

Brodie does not provide anything that Calgary needs and this trade puts Calgary over the cap. Zadorov provides a physical aspect that Calgary lost a lot of this offseason between Lucic, Lewis, and Ritchie. Brodie just provides more of what Tanev and Weegar already do but are better at

Not sure why Steeves could make Calgary but not Toronto in your mind. The Flames have a deeper forwards group

LOL WTF?!

Byfield absolutely has a place in the line up whether it’s wing or center.

While Byfield has a lot of potential he really has not shown enough to want to give up Nylander for at this timeLeafs . Byfield is several years away and the Leafs just don't have that much time. They need to win now. Leafs would pass on that deal
Can't see Calgary wanted to do the deal sugguested, they would be taking on too much cap hit.
The Duck deal is a yawn, neither Timmins or Jarnkrok are worth pursuing for them at this time.

I mean, Brodie would easily be top 4 still, not 3rd pair. And Steeves has been cooking the AHL, with an opportunity he'll be a player. What does Calgary have at LW? Huberdeau and Sharangovich? Steeves could probably take 2 or 3 LW spot... Leafs toss in another 5th rounder if Flames are wanting to be stiff about needing a little more.

Flames have a deeper forward group? How so? Got nothing left from what I can see. And they can make some other little moves to sort out the cap.

Not true at all. Byfield is going to stick around at 1LW for a season or two then take over for Kopitar at 1C or 2C, depending on how quickly he comes along. Danault will be the 3C for the remainder of his contract.

The Kings have a 40 goal scorer in Adrian Kempe, locked up for half of what Nylander will get.

Appreciate the wiseness on the Leafs being the team on that deal to be iffy about pulling the trigger, these Kings peeps are like WHAT? NO WAY. Hilarious.

Why should they? The rest of the NHL is Toronto's farm system.
