Grading every one of Stan Bowmans trades the past season
<a href="/users/exo2769" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@exo2769</a> Regula name jokes are going to be just as fun as Saad name jokes. Hawks drafted a bunch of guys with neat names today as well.[/quote]
I'm really Saad about Kahuna - Maatata trade, but what do I know, I'm just a Regula guy who enjoys picking Dach.
How is that?

LUKAS REICHEL
First of all, Reichel could have been gone by 22 and most def be gone by 27, but also no one is going to give you anything good to go from 22 to 17. This is deep year, but still those kids have about 20% chance to become NHLs, so its not worth it the risk at this stage, you might as well draft someone good in 3rd or 4th round, so no one will give those up.
Plus, Reichel has a big potential to actually play this year, at least on a limited basis. He has great work ethics and he did play with grown man in Germany and played well against them.
How many #17 picks are ready to play? I think Hawks are truly need some ready to play guys, as Toews and Kane's time is running out. I don't know maybe we will see Reichel-Kurashev-Highmore (not bad for 4th line to start the year)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheresAlwaysNextYear</b></div><div>They're depth moves, and you never pass up the opportunity to get a superstar player for free</div></div>
This is illogical? $11M and NMC is not free. If TOR had no MM, then sure, why not. But TOR had no money to spend on forward and they will keep suffering. Get rid of JT and Nylander and get some D and G. (and I don't mean Dolce & Gabbana).

(TOR/LAK) - Moore, 2020 3rd round pick, Conditionial 2021 3rd round pick for Campbell, Clifford
wow, Dubas is so afraid to move a scoring forward. Just trade one for good D and maybe another for a good G.
TOR is one of the worst teams in GA, their D is horrible and G is not much better.
Clifford and Campbell for 2nd, 3rd and Moore? wow, TOR lost again. I mean yes, they probably just got a little better, but this is marginal, I don't get it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AwesomeMatthews</b></div><div>Still think Perlini will make Detroit win the trade but giving Regula an ELC is a good sign he'll at least be an AHL d man</div></div>
CHI won this trade already. Even if Perlini scores 15-20 goals, he is still such a liability on the D. He is useless on traditional 3rd-4th lines, he is not good on D and he is not a go getter, but put him on first and he will produce once in a while, like any other 3-4th liner. Unless he decides to finally adjust his games, but it seems like he is not willing.

(CHI/DET) - Perlini for Regula
Perlini is a liability on D, and his work ethics is a suspect. Even if he scores 20 goals, he still is not someone CHI needs, with some kids in the lineup and bunch more coming next year, CHI needs some hard working raw models, Perlini is not one. Even if the Regula turn out to be an AHL guy, its still fine. Fair trade for now, but with possibility of a win for CHI in 3 years.

Dach is in
They are obviously high on Dach and hope he can make team sooner or later. They take him to Europe so he can bond with the team, skate with them, practice, get to know the system, etc. If he was Rockford eligible they probably would have sent him there, but because he is going to WHL, they will drag him around for as long as they can.

(BUF/CHI) - Nylander for Jokiharju
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brian2016</b></div><div>Wouldn't you rather have a 1st round pick or a roster player? I mean, I just don't see Nylander cracking the Hawks lineup any time soon. He's a top six Forward who's not good enough to play top six. He's not a grind-it-out bottom six guy, at least not now.</div></div>
Well, I did some research and saw some highlights and looks like we might be a bit overreacting. You are absolutely correct, he is not bottom 6, he is top 6. But he is not your speed and shoot kinda guy, he is more of a cycling and get open kind of guy. In BUF he didn't really have a chance to show his full potential. Put this kid on line with Kane or Cat and we might see some results. Or maybe Stan is trying to find a young line mate for Dach? we could have 2 very good, dynaming cycling lines brewing in CHI in the next few years. We will see. I guess, Joki was good, but he didn't make that great of an impression on me. I'd be much more pissed if Boqvist or Boudin was traded for Nylander.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Cody Ceci (1 Year / $4,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danny12357</b></div><div>The Leafs have their top 3 lines signed through next year (other than Marner) and assuming he comes in at $10M, they will have just over $65M committed next season. They will need to do a lot on D with that, re-sign Dermott, and probably end up having to let one of Barrie or Muzzin walk, but they will have cash to take on some salary or make other changes without any tough negotiations on the immediate horizon.
There is this constant freaking out about paying stars, but when teams are in cap trouble, it has far more to do with wasted money. Dubas will have cleared the decks of any wasted money by next summer (with Ceci's salary being the last real bit of over spending), so while he may have some difficult decisions to make when it comes to signing players as they command too much term depending on their age, he has shown a willingness to let players go when they price themselves out, such as Komoarov, Bozak, JVR, and what likely Gardiner.</div></div>
Dubas is managing this team as if this was a Fantasy Hockey who scores more points stays. You need Bozak and JVR and Komarov, and Hyman and Kadri to win. You don't need Nylander and Tavares cause you already have Marner and Matthews. Look at CHI 3 cups, well balanced team, thru out including D (Keith, Seabrook, Campbell, Oduya, Hjamarson). Look at PIT, they are super top heavy and yet, top 4 players make $30M, while TOR now top 4 will make $40M. Thats not going to work. You can't win cups this way, who you go on D? Berri? why? you need shutdown people not point getters, you already have F core that can score a ton... I don't get it... I guess management wats sell tickets, and jerseys and could careless about cups.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Cody Ceci (1 Year / $4,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danny12357</b></div><div>The comparison is not Zaitsev versus Ceci, it's committing to 5 years of Zaitsev versus 1 year of Ceci. Neither player is worth what they are being paid, but Zaitsev's contract was an anchor.
Also, Zaitsev was not the Leaf's 2nd best D in the playoffs, he was 3rd at best, and only because Gardiner and Dermott were both playing hurt. Although his play was tolerable, I think Dubas had to use that short window of good play to get someone to take Zaitsev while he had a chance, if not, he would be paying $4.5M for a bottom pair D for the next 5 years with no way out.</div></div>
TOR put themself in this situation where every contract will be an anchor. Look they have no D signed past next year. If they sign Marner and plan on keeping the core, they will have to play ELCs every year, but their ELC pool is getting smaller. Can't even play Bracco next year, what if he is good? can't sign him. What if Mikheyev good, can't sign him next year. What if Berri good, same, can't give him raise next year and he is not playing for $2.7M. Can't list 20 players, can't have 6-7 rookies every year. You have to build a team that knows each other, not just top 2 lines. Dumbass is too scared to let a star player go, because media might rip him a new one, but thats must be done.
