I think the Kings are going to want a top end goalie this summer. I can see them dumping Cal after his bonus is paid but I don't think they have any interest in Mrazek

Not enough and LAK aren't likely to be willing to give up what it will take. They also aren't likely to be interested in Mrazek or Blackwell. It defeats the purpose of moving Petersen in the first place.

The "interest" in Mrazek is that he can be bought out for a cap hit of 866K this year and best you can do with Petersen is bury him at almost 4 million in cap (his buyout still leaves you at over 5 and 3 more years of some cap after that). Honestly. get rid of everything coming from the Hawks, and this is probably more interesting to the Kings. Basically give up a future third to not have Mrazek (and 866k buyout cap) and let the Hawks deal with him and Blackwell which I can not perceive being considered a value of any sort by the Kings.

The Petersen dump trade with the Hawks only makes any sense if the Hawks are paying the Summer bonus and all of Petersen, the Kings send a '23 2nd, and one of Grans, Pinella, or maybe Spence. I think that leaves both sides not completely happy...Hawks wanting one of the pieces to be higher end like Turcotte or (more likely) a 1st to take 11 million (10 if you buyout next Summer) &/or wanting the Kings to pay the Summer bonus, while the Kings preferring a lesser piece like another late 2nd as opposed to a prospect they consider an early 2nd/late first value.

If a Hawk/Petersen trade is going to actually happen, I don't see Mrazek or Blackwell being a part of it as the Kings will add a mid round pick to pay off the Hawks to just buyout Mrazek for them. The purpose of doing this trade is to improve the goaltending, sign Vilardi, and resign Gavrikov. Being left with a 1.1 million in cap from a Mrazek buyout and the difference between Blackwell and an AHL kid makes all that a little harder.

A thorough and 100% accurate analysis on which I could not improve, so I won't waste everyone's time by trying to.

Really well done.
