They aren't done either. I'm betting Anisimov goes to MTL in a trade with the Hawks, likely for a 2nd rounder.

I don't think I agree that he's a more skilled Gallagher, but I think he's Gallagher if Gallagher was a passer and not a shooter. they are going to have an ANNOYING 2nd line when the draft Tkachuk 3rd. Domi-Tkachuk-Gallagher? ew

I like the trade too. I understand people being upset because we're all emotionally attached to Galchenyuk but Max Domi is a stud.

Maybe but usualy you don't give potential 30+goal/year for 9 (4 in empty net) . That's a non-sense. Awfull trade for MTL .

Both players have career 0.61 point per game average. Domi is a year younger, will be signed to a better contract and is an RFA for 4 more years vs. Galchenyuk who is a UFA and would probably leave Montreal in 2 years anyways. It's a good trade (for both teams I think).

I too like this trade for Montreal, so long as they get Domi's contract right. This trade sets them up better for the future, while keeping the team competitive at the same time.

Five stars as well
I am a sabres fan and I have been chiding Montreal fans for wanting to blow up the team Sign JT or Statsny with a healthy Price and Weber this is a play off team, This is a great trade and I am happy that they did it. Nice job all of you.

Lol. This trade shows you the true value of Galchenyuk. Now every one can see that the RNH trades were unrealistic. I'm must admit I'm a little surprised they settled on this.

Oh, I don't think they should have done this. I just don't think it's as catastrophically bad as some people are making it out to be

Love this trade for ARI.

Big Domi fan too. Leaf fans will hate to see him in Habs colors lol. I think he will do just fine in a Canadian market

Nothing against Domi, and I'm sure i'm going to enjoy watching him in a Habs uniform. But MTL has to stop trading their best assets for players who don't fit a positional need now. You can do it once (Sergachev), but come on... Habs need goals and centermen, This trade only shows they truly had given up on Chucky and highlights the Habs failure in developing elite talent. Whats even worse is Arizona's GM has already gone out and said he plans on Chucky playing Center...

So right now I'm predicting that Domi will have a solid 1st season in MTL, probably putting up 50pts ish, and MTL fans will be satisfied with his body of work, but Chucky will emerge as legitimate top 6 Center having finally getting his chance (similar to Schenn in STL) and will have a 65pts+ season.

end of the day, Habs traded the most talented player in the deal, with Bergefail again going for "character". It's worked so far, right?......

How can you guys say this was a good trade for Habs? It was BRUTAL. Every person in the media agrees. The Montreal Canadiens, a team desperate for both GOALS and for a centre, trade a NATURAL CENTRE for a LW that in his entire career had less goals than what galchenyuk had this season (despite galchenyuk having a “bad” season). Play galchenyuk at centre!!!! He scored 30 goals and played the best season of his life at that position. Habs management and coaching are CLUELESS. Behind Ottawa they are the 2nd worst managed team in the NHL I would say. I can’t WAIT for galchenyuk to finally be rewarded with playing the centre position in Arizona and scoring 30+ goals and 60+ points where max domi plays LW on MTL and nets 10 goals and 40 points

This trade is good if you look at it as LW for LW, habs management has decided Galchenyuk isn't a C (I would've personally played him at 1st C over Drouin). Galchenyuk should do really well in Arizona where there is no pressure.

You're cherry picking Domi's worst season and assuming he can't bounce back - they have the same career point per game (0.61). If the habs sign him to around $3.75M for 6 years and he bounces back to a 50 point level that's great. Domi is an RFA for 4 years, Galchenyuk is a UFA in 2 years and it would only go two ways for montreal:
1.) Galchenyuk succeeds, the habs have to overpay him because they will be competing with 30 other teams.
2.) Galchenyuk doesn't succeed and he leaves Montreal because he wants more money and a change of scenery.

Actually I'll add option 3. Galchenyuk plays like he has been (at Domi's current level) and the habs have to overpay him to compete with 30 other teams vs. Domi who is RFA or signed long term already.

This isn't a good move in itself, but it sets Montreal up well for the future if they make some other moves.

If you're looking for a bridge contract max is 3 years, a 4 year contract takes him straight to UFA
