If this isn't a contender than what is?

Description
This team is pretty BOSS ....

The trades with Montreal and Carolina are really made it happen.... The those trades are fanatic deals for both clubs ....

Lets start off with the Habs who need centers BTW.....Of course in this trade they get (2) Anismov & Jesperi Kotkaniemi who by all accounts is who the Habs want.... Why take him at #3 when the Hawks will give you a legitimate #2-3 center for pick 8 where you could grab the guy easily ...

That trade makes perfect sense especially when you consider Bergervin and Bowman have done several trades over the last few seasons .... So I could really see a move like this making sense for both teams .... Especially if the Hawks will ensure you're getting the player you wanted all along while getting a legitimate #2 center and a winger with some upside in Duclair just because the Hawks loss is a Habs gain in this situation.

The Carolina trade - it's a little more delicate, but favors the Canes once again.... Darling or Faulk either or with 1,500,0000 retained for Saad, Forsling #27 in this draft or a First round pick in 2019 and the RFA rights to Ivan Nalimov (who I have been following BTW, this kid has some legitimate potential to be a super-star goalie if you take your time with the guy....

I know, I expect to be flamed on the trade proposals but if you sit back and actually think about teem needs and what's good for the Habs and then Canes - if you know those teams and their needs it's really not too bad (er bad at all)... lol...

In my proposed deal - we know the Habs need centers - They get Anisimov and Jesperi Kotkaniemi the best center in the draft and then some just to swap picks ...

These deals make perfect sense based on team needs ...

Oh and you can have Duclair too..... really fast, epic skills but the kid cant finish ...... He's kinda like Versteeg , just not with the points..... Certainly a project but if Duclair could get it together and finish and get his game together - he would be a dynamic player, but as of right now his feet are faster than his hockey IQ... Truth is Duclair could be the "Phil Esposito" of this deal (completely different type of players bit I think Duclair has an upside where if he figures it out he could be a 70 point player ........ Yea it's a long shot bit - the potential is there .

Pass from Carolina. You’ll need a lot more to pry #2 (Svechnikov) from them.

Don't think they would give up a future 30-40 goal scorer for the next 10 years for two guys who won't be with them beyond 3 years...

So Hawks get a backup for Crawford, solid Top 4 Dman At 3M and the 2nd overall pick for an overpaid second liner, a young middle pairing defenseman and an undetermined first rounder? Carolina laughs at you and hangs up the phone.

Also that’s not enough to trade up for Montreal, you’re moving back 6 picks and only acquiring an overpaid third liner and the only decent piece is Duclair which isn’t that great either.

Easy no from Canes. Habs do that but Kotkaniemi may not be there at 8. They’d make the 3rd pick and see what happens.

Instead of looking how this benefits the Hawks look how it benefits the teams getting assets from the Hawks....

I addressed every teams needs in those hypothetical trades...

Montreal needs centers....... They get 2

Carolina has too much D..... So they have to make a trade or put a guy like TVR on waivers and the Hawks will certainly claim him....

I've been trying to limit the word count on my explanations of trades. If you have to explain it, it might not happen. But also, if you explain it too much, without giving the reason it actually might happen, you look clueless.

How do you write over 100 words on why MTL might should trade for Anthonly DuClair without including the only reason they would actually consider trading for him: Domi.

So you think that just because CAR might need to move a D man that they are going to just say “fk it” and give up the 2nd OA pick to do so? Many teams would be interested in Faulk and would take him without the 2OA attached.

This in no way gives Carolina what they need...a starting goalie!

terrible logic. Montreal needs centers so they rip their arm out for a cap dump? Carolina is in a position of strength so they throw that away PLUS the second overall and their goaltender to acquire.. Saad? who is certainly not better than Skinner? that alone is 1/5, -2 for signing Voynov. this brings us to -1/5

Look at his KHL numbers ....... I think he had a .939 sv % his past season.....

The Kid has decent size and has proven himself in the KHL, he wants a trade because he wants to be an NHL backup or at least an AHL starter.

I didn’t realize that the definition of a stud goalie included a backup and AHL starter.

Well if you knew anything about the NHL and developing goalies you would know you cant throw a goalie to the wolves in 2018.

Saad, they might take... since he can score 30 goals when he plays with a center who's got more skill than leadership.

A cap dump?

Anisimov is an extremely skilled player...

Anisimov is no "cap dump" - I just don't think he fits the Hawks game ...... He'd be perfect for the Habs tho.

Look you can have Anisimov, Duclair, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and 3rd round pick OR you can have .Svechnikov or Zadina.... Perhaps Tkachuk or Dobson...

Waddell
This is why it would be funny to see an alleged "hockey fan" GM a team........ Perhaps Waddell should give his job up to one "lucky fan" and let the dolt GM the team for a year....

Of course Poor Donny would never want to come back after that......Who can GM a team with Tavares, Karlsson Carlson and Neal for good measure all signed long term..mmmmm.

Yeah because that why you take Trevor Kidd over Bodeaur .......

You stop, you're lack of the game is really showing ..... Every great goalie that was ever drafted (or not drafted) in the modern era were LATE ROUND PICKS that took time to develop or were ready to kick ass right off the bat like Hasek - an international star in his own right........ but WTF do I know about goalies.... lol
