Have no stake in this but that's a fair trade...

Easy to resist something that is not tempting to begin with. Would not even consider it.

There isn't resisting because it's not even a consideration. Makes no sense for the team. Jones is an elite defenseman who's not going anywhere.

He's Norris-calibre and a top RH defenseman, absolutely the Leafs make this deal, though I'd imagine they'd switch the 2019 1st to 2020 or 2021, since this year's draft will quite good for top talent. Regardless, I see Columbus having absolutely no motivation to trade Jones. Yes, Nylander makes their team better, but assuming they are losing both Bob and Panarim this offseason and they may start a rebuild or retool, you can still do that with Jones around - he's definitely young enough. I know Liljegren is a good prospect, and there is plenty of hype about him - as there would be for any 1st rounder drafted by Toronto - but he is not a sure-thing NHLer just yet.

Hmm.... They said Jones is untouchable so I'm gonna go with yes they can resist and they will. Is it rocket science??? No it's common sense and actually watching the NHL it's super easy. you should do it sometime.

Value-wise the trade is not that bad, but it doesn't really fit to CBJ's needs imo. Trading TOP10 players of the position is just illogical.

I mean, would you trade Rielly, your best d-man for Wennberg, Carlsson, 1st and an added 2nd (to even the value)? Probably not.

I’m sorry but I have to chime in here... if Columbus is not a playoff team this year, I think they would consider this deal. Liljegren nylander and a 1st (all be it late) in a very deep draft year could set them on a better path. There is no doubt that liljegren is going to be good. Nylander will replace the points from panarin leaving and who knows what you might get in the draft. I think this trade combined with panarin and bob at the deadline could be huge for Columbus.

To trade him now or at TDL while they are in contention it is an easy no.

Jones is untouchable. He will not be traded he is arguably the best defenseman in the NHL under 25. So you’d have to wow them to get jones which means way over paying.

Why would we trade jones at all? He’s get 3 years on his contract after this season..... it’s not like he’s going any where....

Why?? Because gm’s are smarter than fans... which is also why I think leafs don’t make this trade.

To think of it from the jackets side... if they miss the playoffs with bob and panarin and jones how are they improving with panarin and bob leaving next year? To go from a non playoff team to a cup contender in 3 years while jones is still on contract may not be feasible.

From the leafs point of view this is a move made if you don’t want to be patient. Liljegren will be ready to go next year and may make it into our lineup this season. I think even if he were dropped into our lineup today he would be more than likely be our 2nd best on the right side. The leafs want to be patient with him and get him top minutes in the AHL.
