I wish that this "rumor" came from a source other than the-once shadowy figure known as Eklund. If this was really on the table, I'd expect the Leafs to think long and hard on it, but Kapanen offers something a lot of Leafs do not, he is defensively reliable forward. That, along with his recent scoring prowess and speed makes him an ideal fit for this lineup, but I can obviously see that extending him to a new deal will be tough.
