I'm just going to let you know STL fans are going to hate that trade. They wouldn't move him for Pacioretty, they definitely aren't moving him for Johnson.

He has been on trade bait though for a while so they might eventually cave in

They might. If I'd bet on it though, it'd be to Columbus for Bobrovsky. They need an elite goalie, not Jarry, another tweener.

It would be nice to see more elite movement like that. Hopefully the tavares situation causes a change like that. Bobrovskys contracts is almost up too

One of the biggest things here is that a bunch of penalty killers and two way players were brought in. Where there are even two more players that could play on the PK but arent on the PK lines here (rust and granlund). Which can be useful when if their PKers are the ones in the box or if there are injuries. This also leaves most of the scoring to first two lines and some from the third with gourde and hornqvist but really just leaving the last two lines to shut down offense.

What is "on trade bait"? He's not getting traded - I can pretty comfortably say that.

Kyrou was on TSN’s trade bait all last year because the Blues were looking to upgrade at forward with a player like Hoffman or Pacioretty, not because they were actively trying to move him. Now that the Blues have a revamped forward group, they have no need or desire to trade Kyrou unless it is for an elite option. Jack Johnson is probably negative value at this point. He’d be comparable to Bouwmeester accept for the fact that we’re almost rid of Bouwmeester and Johnson is newly signed.

-Love the Yanni idea, Ive been praying for that.
- Wouldnt move Maatta for that
- Hard No's on Polak , Hainsy, and Flipper
and STL wont move Kyrou for that.

Not to long ago some bone head Blues fan tried telling me he was a 100 point player. I swear they think the craziest things about him. He failed to realize 100 points in the Canadian leagues don't mean squat. Of all the over hyped could be potential guys, I think Kyrou might be the worst of the bunch. If he doesn't tear up the AHL like Sprong did last year put a fork in him.

That's a big commitment to Gourde, a potential one hit wonder... You don't get 300 AHL games because of having skill...

believe me Johnson isn't the key asset the penguins are giving up in that trade, that would definitely be jarry lol

Idk about Gourde especially at that price. I can't see him getting that much more than Guentzel. he is also really small and mostly plays wing so being our 3rd line center isn't very likely. Plus i don't think he'd put up the numbers being on a 3rd line.
You could get a better package for Maatta, Granlund isn't that good and Chatfield is still a big if as a prospect.
Increasing youth and talent doesn't seem to mesh with Hainsey, Pyatt, Filppula and Polak. that brings age and slowness.
No one is taking JJ off the Pens hands. The fact your having ST louis throw in additional draft picks in that deal makes it way off. And if the Pens trade for Kyrou he'll be in the top 6.
Jake Chelios is also not good and is already 27.
I like getting Hammond for depth
ZAR, Simon, Riikola and Blueger not in the starting lineup.....

I pray none of this happens. Kyrou only promising youth added and the youth the Pens have been developing are benched for older veterans well beyond their best buy date.

Still, Jarry isn't worth Kyrou.

Gourde just got a 5.1 extension so i was close.he also played most of last season on the bottom two lines as centre and killing penalties. He was also on the powerplay and got moved up later because of his production and obviously wouldnt play centre when stamkos is playing centre and was killing it with kucherov. So he plays wing when it comes between him and a future hall of famer
