Might be a fair trade but then Tampa still has to get rid of cap over the summer.

As much as Ristolainen is overrated, Buffalo is still gonna ask for and get more than that. Right handed dman are at a premium, wingers aren't. It's gonna be at least a good prospect going back to Buffalo too.

It isn’t enough for Ristolainen, if you want him it’s gonna cost Foote or cernak and JT Miller or gourde

Tampa doesn't need offensive defenseman.. just tougher bigger ones .. with Rasmus there will be no need to resign Stralman Giardi or Colburn ..
Saves $11M on cap .. and Gourde new contract is for longer and more AAV than Rasmus .. and there is no need for Tampa to add more than Gourde in this trade

Gonna cost JT Miller. He’s a perfect Fot for BUF. Plays C and can move to wing if(when?) Mittelstadt takes that spot at 2C

First, I just cannot see BriseBois trading Gourde for Ristolainen. IMO he would rather trade future assets for current success.
Second, Montour in many ways is Ristolainen, so IMO Betterall could be setting a trade of Ristolainen that was close to consummation before he picked up Montour.
Third, if you think bigger tougher RHD that sound like Bogosian with salary retained. Would you consider that trade instead? Maybe Foote? Or does that not help the TBL defense?

Tampa likes bigger D .. almost all are huge .. ones that skate and shoot and toughness .. Rasmus fits well with "mold". The issue is Tampa too small at forward.. only 2 of top 15 forwards are over 200 lbs and Erne and Miller are 3rd/4th line. Due to salary cap position .. moving Gourde makes ALL the sense in world instead of picks.
