Imagine legitimately thinking that Mittlestadt has equal value to Kadri. You have to be kidding.

4 points in his last 5, 5 in 8, and 10 points in his last 27 games. That is a 30 point pace for Zaitsev which is similar to the production that got him his deal. If he is indeed back on track, he is outproducing his contract and now has value again.

Imagine that... gardiner goes down and he starts producing points. It’s all about deployment. I’ve liked his play all season. He has proved to be versatile. He can play a shut down role, puck mover and QB a power play. This is why I have never been a fan of moving him for nothing.

That is a lot of projecting. Zaitsev is not going to come anywhere near his production from his rookie season because he is not going to get power play time like he did then. I would settle for him having better possession metrics and not banking the puck off the glass and into the neutral zone all the time.

I hope Liljegren makes it opening day next year, Sandin could possible too but it might be best for him to play in the A a little while longer

Sandin's been having a better year than Liljgren from what I've seen

Yeah he is but from what I’ve seen/what is typical when developing a d-man is that Liljegren has had a more defensive assignment to work on that half of the game

I didn't claim either of them were better, Mittlestadt is 20 on an ELC with a very high ceiling, Kadri is a 28 y/o slightly above average 3C on a 4.5 mil contract. Pretty clear who has more value.

They're not good together. And the team isn't good without Gardiner. 5-5 with 40 goals against.

Zaitsev needs a simple player like Muzzin. No flash but he does the right things.

Yeah but what was their record before Dermott went down? Marincin and Holl are not nhlers. Can’t put it all on the D though. It’s been a top to bottom **** show.

K I’m not gonna argue the value but discribing Kadri as an above average 3c shows that you know nothing about the player you are talking about

The way i look at it is that with 2 ahl dmen and Goaltending going through a tough stretch, the leafs have still almost scored their way out of it twice and actually did score their way out of it once, so with 2 nhl defenseman (even if gards is one of them) and Freddy playing like he normally does, I am sure the team will be just fine
