Tough call but I'll go Makar since RD are harder to find than LD. Both will be fantastic defenseman in their primes.

Makar, biggest thing being that Makar plays a bigger game than his 5'11 size, I had to double check that because he just seems so much bigger than that, so hard to knock the puck off of him. Hughes plays like hes 5'10 which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Both will be very good just Makar will be better

Quinn Hughes is going to be a very good player but Makar is very special, hes as good as advertised. The fact that in his 2nd pro game, in the NHL playoffs, in OT, the coach already sees his talent and he is playing on his off hand side and pulling off amazing plays.

Getting him at 4, I will never complain about losing that lottery

what impressed me so far is how calm he is in all situations, He is already pulling off at full speed this clean break outs, hitting guys in stride like Mack or Rants, heck even when he was directing traffic telling Nemeth where to go for a break out.

He already plays like hes been in the league for 2 years

I went to a lot of UMASS games this year and it was crazy how good we was, just dominated all the time (unfortunately was a bit invisible in the frozen four) but yea, dude will be a beast

I'll take Quinn Hughes having seen him play a bunch at Michigan and for the US Development Team. I like Quinn for a lot of the same reasons Coga16 likes Makar.

I assume when you said he plays like he's 5' 10" is he doesn't hit a lot. I agree with but Detroit had a defenseman a few years ago who a lot of scouts said the same things about him like he's going to be good but not great. That defenseman was Nicklas Lidstrom!

But as nashless said only time will tell.

Not even because Makar hits more, its just that hes so god damn hard to knock off the puck. Such a strong skater

Ok but I still think Quinn is going to be the better player. Quinn is a strong skater as well. Plus his vision and passing is amazing.
